بازدید فرمانده كل قوا از نمایشگاه دستاوردهای نیروی زمینی ارتش http://farsi.khamenei.ir/news-content?id=19438 حضرت آيت‌الله خامنه‌ای رهبر معظّم انقلاب اسلامی پيش از ظهر روز 3 اردیبهشت 1391، ضمن حضور در محل ستاد نيروی زمينی ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ايران، از نزديك در جريان فعاليت‌ها و دستاوردهای اين نيرو قرار گرفتند. فرمانده كل قوا ابتدا با حضور در محل يادمان شهدای دفاع مقدس و قرائت فاتحه، علوّ درجات شهدا را مسئلت كردند. حضرت آيت‌الله خامنه‌ای سپس ضمن بازديد از نمايشگاه فعاليت‌های آموزشی، تحقيقاتی، مهندسی و رزمی نيروی زمينی ارتش، از جمله طرح شبيه‌سازی آموزش چتربازی كه به دست متخصصان داخلی طراحی و ساخته شده است، با يگان‌های مستقر در پادگان ابوذر در سرپل‌ذهاب و گروه مقدم پشتيبانی هواپيمايی نيروی زمينی ارتش در زاهدان از طريق ويدئوكنفرانس گفت‌وگو كردند. فرمانده معظّم كل قوا در جمع فرماندهان يگان‌های عملياتی و رزمی نيروی زمينی ارتش، مهم‌ترين موضوع در نيروهای مسلح را توجه به اهتمام و انگيزه‌ی ناشی از ايمان دينی دانستند و تأكيد كردند: بايد در مديريت نيروهای مسلح، تقويت انگيزه‌های دينی عميق و ماندگار همواره مد نظر باشد و از آن لحظه‌ای غفلت نشود. ايشان با تأكيد بر اين‌كه ايمان به خداوند و ايمان به غيب زمينه‌ساز انگيزه‌های مستحكم و مؤثر است، افزودند: تأثير انگيزه‌های عميق و ماندگار در انسان‌های مؤمن و شجاع در مقاطع حساس و سرنوشت‌ساز نمايانگر می‌شود؛ همان‌گونه كه رزمندگان اسلام و نيروهای مسلح توانستند هشت سال در مقابل ارتش بعثی و كاملاً مجهز صدام كه مورد پشتيبانی قدرت‌های بزرگ بود، مقاومت كنند و به پيروزی برسند. حضرت آيت‌الله خامنه‌ای استمرار و تقويت اين روحيه‌ی مقاومت را در بدنه‌ی نيروهای مسلح، ضروری و بسيار مهم خواندند و خاطرنشان كردند: البته فرماندهان نظامی نيز بايد ضمن برخورداری از علم و دانش و استحكام شخصيتی، دارای روحيه‌ی اخلاص و دلبسته نبودن به دنيا باشند. رهبر انقلاب اسلامی نيروی زمينی ارتش را بخش مهم و محور ارتش خواندند و بر لزوم برنامه‌ريزی، پشتيبانی و آموزش در اين نيرو تأكيد كردند. پيش از بيانات رهبر معظم انقلاب در جمع فرماندهان يگان‌های عملياتی نيروی زمينی ارتش، اميرسرلشگر صالحی فرمانده كل ارتش ضمن خير مقدم، گزارشی را ارائه كرد. اميرسرتيپ پوردستان فرمانده نيروی زمينی ارتش نيز در گزارشی وضعيت نيروی زمينی ارتش و آمادگی آنها در مناطق مختلف كشور را تشريح كرد. فرمانده كل قوا همچنين در جمع فرماندهان منتخب، درجه‌داران، دانشجويان و كارمندان نيروی زمينی ارتش با اشاره با حركت بالنده و رو به رشد ارتش در سه دهه‌ی گذشته تأكيد كردند: امروز ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ايران يكی از مردمی‌ترين نهادهای كشور و ارتشی الهی و اسلامی و حقيقتاً در خدمت منافع ملی است. http://english.khamenei.ir//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1624&Itemid=2 Supreme Leader Meets with Army Commanders and Personnel 22/04/2012 Ayatollah Khamenei the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces met today with the commanders and personnel of the Army\'s Ground Forces. Speaking at the meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the most important issue is the determination and motivation that results from religious faith. He stressed: \"Strengthening deep and firm religious motives must always receive attention from the management of the Armed Forces and these motives must not be neglected even for a moment.\" His Eminence said that religious faith prepares the ground for firm and effective motives, further adding: \"Faithful and courageous people\'s deep and firm motives reveal their effect at sensitive and fateful junctures, just as our faithful soldiers and Armed Forces managed to resist and achieve victory against the Ba\'ath Army, a fully equipped army which was supported by the superpowers.\" Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is necessary to maintain and strengthen the spirit of resistance in the Armed Forces. \"Of course, besides acquiring knowledge and developing a firm character, our military commanders should enjoy a spirit of sincerity and avoid becoming attached on the material world.\" He referred to the progressive movement of the Iranian Army over the past three decades and stressed: \"Today the Islamic Republic of Iran\'s Army is one of the most populist organizations in the country. It is also a divine and Islamic army which truly serves our national interests.\" Ayatollah Khamenei said that the hegemonic powers claim that their armies have been established to safeguard national interests and added: \"Despite the claims made by the hegemonic powers, their armies are at the service of promoting political ambitions and safeguarding taghuti powers, and national interests are not at all important for them.\" His Eminence reiterated: \"By massacring the people of Iraq and Afghanistan and by committing crimes in these countries, is the US Army really trying to serve the national interests of the American people?\" The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution added: \"The Islamic Republic of Iran\'s Army is the only army that is at the service of the people and national interests. And its members and commanders share the same beliefs and feelings as the people.\" Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Army has been shaped by its progressive movement after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. He added: \"It is necessary to constantly strengthen this auspicious movement in the Islamic Republic of Iran\'s Army.\" His Eminence reiterated: \"Today a movement has started in the world which is opposed to categorizing countries as domineering and dominated, and Islamic Iran is at the epicenter of this movement.\" The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has become the target of threats and sanctions because it is the epicenter of this movement, further stressing: \"After permeating the minds and bodies of Muslim nations for more than three decades, this extremely important movement has emerged as a concentrated force and the developments in Egypt and certain other countries are the result of this movement.\" Ayatollah Khamenei said that the colonialist and hegemonic powers of the world are extremely afraid of the movement and reiterated that their fear is fueled by the determined and faithful youth of Islamic Iran and the knowledge and insight of the Iranian people. He stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran\'s Army plays a significant role in this regard and added that it is necessary to strengthen it.

But doctors and human rights organisations say their evidence disproves this account. The Israeli army has forcibly removed a group of Palestinian farmers from their land in the occupied West Bank.The farmers from the Tuquoa village were trying to plant 400 olive trees on their land with the help of a Christian youth group when the Israeli soldiers stopped them at gunpoint and asked for proof of ownership. After holding them for over an hour, and despite the farmers proving ownership of their land, the Israeli forces ordered them to leave the area and never come back unless they had a specific reason or an official order. The farmers said that the lands in question were 90 dunams or 22 acres and were owned by four families living in al-Asakira village.

An Israeli soldier has been killed in clashes with the Lebanese army in the Ras al-Naqoura area. The incident happened after the Israeli soldier tried to infiltrate into Lebanon. Israeli military has also confirmed that one of its forces has been killed along the border with Lebanon. Reports say Israeli warplanes are flying over the region and have violated the Lebanese airspace. A spokesman for the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon has told Press TV that they are trying to find out the facts over the incident. Andrea Tenenti says UNIFIL has urged both sides to show restraint.

According to Palestinian Health Ministry sources, he was hit by Israeli tank fire. The military often targets Palestinians in the area. Tel Aviv has imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip since 2007, which has caused a decline in the standard of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.

Barghouti stated that soldiers randomly shot at protesters, wounding dozens of Palestinian citizens. He added that the Israeli army specifically targeted journalists who were recording the attacks.

More than 110 civilians were killed in protests that lasted several months back in 2010. Now, three years after the incident, rights activists are not optimistic about the outcome of the court martial proceedings. They say the court martial is just a cover-up because the accused enjoy the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. That act gives legal immunity to Indian forces in Kashmir and forbids their prosecution without the sanction from the Indian government. According to rights activists, hundreds of security personnel face charges of murder, rape, and arrest in Kashmir, but prosecution against them has been hindered due to the special powers. The army has ordered court martial proceedings against the accused army soldiers in Machil fake encounter. But it remains to be seen whether the real perpetrators of the crime will be brought to justice in the near future.

Hundreds of Palestinian villagers have made a short but symbolic march to the separation wall that Israel has built on their land, a non-violent protests that they regularly undertake. Equally, the protesters, marching from the village of Bilin, are regularly met with a violent response from the Israeli army. "The village of Bilin is literally on the frontline of Israel's confiscation of Palestinian land and the construction of its separation barrier," Jacky Rowland, Al Jazeera's correspondent reporting from the village, said. "Later today the villagers of Bilin will protest the fact that not only they, but also five neighbouring villages, have lost their land which has been seized to build an Israeli settlement. "This huge settlement will result in 40,000 Jewish settlers living on occupied land here in the West Bank and as Prime Minister [Binyamin] Netanyahu is planning to give the go ahead for even more of these settlement homes to be built," she said. Netanyahu is set to approve plans to build hundreds of new homes on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank, before considering US demands for a construction freeze.

Gunfire broke out on as Palestinians marched to mark the 63rd anniversary of "Nakba Day" or the day of catastrophe. Marching towards the Erez crossing, over 1000 Palestinians faced Israeli soldiers opening fire on them. Dozens of marchers were injured including a journalist who is in critical condition as they tried to return to their original homes in historical Palestine. In a prayer sermon, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah continued to stress the importance of resistance against the Zionist regime. Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians held a big rally in northern Gaza to protest the events in 1948 when their ancestors were pushed into exile and driven out of their towns and villages by Israel. These annual marches serve to remind and unite Palestinians as they struggle to cope with six decades of suffering. Israel has prevented the return of Palestinian refugees, who were either displaced or dispossessed in 1948. After 63 years of displacement, Palestinians say they want the world to know that they will never give up the right of return to their homeland.

Palestinian political prisoner and long term hunger striker Samer al Issawi was greeted by hundreds of supporters, friends and family as he was released from an Israeli jail following the longest hunger strike in Palestinian history. Samer al Azawi was originally captured by the Israeli army and handed a 26 year sentence in 2002. He was released as part of the Gilad Shalit deal alongside over a thousand other prisoners in exchange for 1 Israeli prisoner. However, Asawi was arrested again in July 2012 and held in administrative detention without charge or trial. Following his detention, Asawi went on a 260 day hunger strike in protest against the Israeli\\\'s threatening to renew his original prison sentence for breaking the terms of his parole. Israeli forces raided his family\\\'s home twice just before his release. On Sunday, Israeli authorities gave notices to Issawi\\\'s brother and father, demanding they meet requirements by the Israeli intelligence. Israeli intelligence agents, accompanied by soldiers, told the family they were not allowed to organize any celebrations for Issawi\\\'s release. Samer al Azawi will now join his family in Jerusalem al Quds following a 9 months hunger strike which prompted the Israeli authorities to release him. He stressed the importance of applying international pressure on Israel to release over 4800 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli jails.
