The first, most common, important, influential, valuable, effective psychological effect of the verses of the Qur’an is the induction of God\'s greatness in the heart of His servant. What will be the result of this? The result is one feeling small and humble, and one becoming crushed before the greatness of God. From then on, pleasure, enlightenment, mercy, kindness and everything good can be tasted. If someone reads the Qur\'an like this, he won’t abandon the Qur\'an anymore and will become fond of it. Try it.
The first of God’s attributes that you must pay attention to in order for your soul to become corrected, and so that light, mercy and the doors to all beauties will be opened to you, is God’s greatness. Do you know what the result of this will be? When you recite the Qur\'an, it is as if you are attending a workshop that inspires God’s greatness in your soul!
This is not like listening to a speech, which is about exercising and the human anatomy for instance. They say, “This is an arm muscle. Repeating this move 20 times brings about these changes.” But you have not exercised. But if you actually go to a gym, you will start exercising, sweating and strengthening your muscles. When you recite the Qur’an, it is as if you have gone to a gym and are practicing with God’s attribute of greatness. This is very surprising and important! This is the first action that helps build up the human soul. If this is true, it’s very important. It’s a key point.
The first feeling that one must find with respect to God is feeling humble and small before God. [You say,] “I’m your little one.” After saying this, you start loving God too. Let’s not run before we can walk! We cannot love God unless we become small before Him. We must first become small before Him. We should pay attention to the Qur’an. You prostrate before God [when praying]. Have you noticed this? Have you noticed that you bow down? Have you noticed that you put your face on the dust? Why don’t you bat an eye at this?
What I am talking about has been mentioned in the Qur’an too. “Had We sent down this Qur’an on a mountain, you would certainly have seen it falling down, splitting asunder because of its fear of Allah.” [Qur’an 59:21] What is meant by “falling down, splitting asunder” is that it would have become small and crushed.
Have you seen how when some people are arguing they say, “You’re nothing to me”? This means you’re very small. “Splitting asunder” means it becomes small and crushed. O God, crush us. And who can understand the pleasure of becoming crushed by reciting the verses of the Qur\'an? The way to become fond of the Qur’an is to become crushed with it. But sometimes we don’t even bat an eye. An example is when a person is cursed but doesn’t even bat an eye. The Qur’an is crushing you. Be affected by it and see how enjoyable it is.
Write this phrase I’m saying a hundred times tonight! Become crushed with the verses of the Qur’an and see how enjoyable it is. You don’t need to write it more than a hundred times! We will remember it. Become crushed with the verses of the Qur’an and see how enjoyable it is. This does not need much spiritual wayfaring. You will become fond of the Qur’an.

The Strategic Role of a Bad Trait
Sometimes there is only one bad trait, but it causes a person to go to Hell. Very simple. It makes a society wretched. This means this evil has a strategic role. Some evils in general have a strategic role. For example, jealousy is strategic.
Amru Aas’s son narrated, “Once, I was sitting in the Mosque. The Prophet of God (s) said, ‘Whoever wants to look at a person that will go to Heaven, look at this old man who will enter now. He will definitely go to Heaven.’”
Amru Aas’s son was a sensitive and astute person. He wondered about him?! He was young. He came to the old man’s house and said, “I have had an argument with my father and don’t have a place. Will you let me stay in your house?” The old man accepted.
He stayed there for three days and watched him day and night. He saw that he was a regular person. He couldn’t find anything special in him! He prayed, slept, ate, worked, etc. He didn’t recite the Qur’an or fast in a special way.
After three days, he told the old man, “I’m sorry. I lied that I said I had an argument with my father. I wanted to watch you closely to see how you are. And I saw that you are a very normal person.” The old man responded, “Was I supposed to be abnormal?” He replied, “The Prophet (s) said that you will go to Heaven. You have something that we don’t.” The old man replied, “That’s very kind of the Prophet to say so. I don’t know.” He asked, “Talk some about your mood and work.”
The old man replied, “I am like ‘this and that.’” Suddenly the old man said, “If God gives a virtue to anybody, it isn’t hard for me.” I say, ‘How nice. Good for him. How beautiful.’” Amru Aas’s son said, “This is what we are unable to tolerate.” I am unable to tolerate for God to give something to someone with no reason. I say, “What about me?!”
Some traits are strategic. Like the trait of jealousy. Actually, what is the first negative trait that is born in a human being? Jealousy starts from the age of three. It bothers the child too. You should have children very close in age, not very close, at least three years between them, so that this child feels jealous, becomes bothered, and learns to pass on it. You vaccinate him or her.
“This is how it is! You have come into this world to pass the test of jealousy. With your small brother or sister, see how it is. Feel what Cain, Talha, Zubayr, Mu’awiah, and Umar Sa’d felt. The story started from here. Fight! Fight with your jealousy my little one.” Let your child practice and you help him or her. This is the way it is. Is it possible for God not to tell us to work on such a strategic trait like jealousy every day? Is it possible?
What part of the Qur’an is obligatory to recite every day? Chapter ‘Hamd.’ “(Lord), guide us to the right path, the path of those to whom You have granted blessings.” (Qur’an 1:6-7) You didn’t feel bad?! God has granted them blessings. What about you? “No, guide me to their path. It’s not a problem that He has granted them blessings. I’m not jealous.” Good job! Good job! “…the path of those to whom You have granted blessings,” means that I’m not jealous. Actually, I’m humble in another way too. Not only I’m not jealous or miserly, but I’m humble in another way too. What is that? “Guide me to their path.”
Jealousy is the basic theme of God’s test about religion. Guardianship shows itself there. One of the miracles of our religion is the religious mourning ceremonies for Aba Abdillah al-Husayn, which work on our most basic, strategic, bad trait. In each meeting, your jealousy towards the “Guardians” will be struck down so that you won’t become like Cain. It brings us out from being like Cain.
When they talk about Abel’s tragedies, your heart softens and warms so that you won’t become Cain. May I be sacrificed for Husayn (‘a) and his children that they were all beaten so much to create this humbleness in us. You will see on the Day of Judgment how much Husayn (‘a) has struggled for us. This was God’s design! This Able (Husayn) that we burn for helps us not to become Cain.

Clip Sweet Taste of Faith

Faith is sweet, beautiful, and beloved - faith itself! Faith takes one to a higher level of life. The Holy Prophet (s) lived with God! His existence depended on God. God gave flavor to his life. God was the sweetness of his life. God was what made things sweet for him. His soul didn’t enjoy anything else except God. Is the sweetness of faith something small? Are we just mentioning one of many things that are sweet?!For God’s sake, look at how indifferent we are about what is happening in the world. The Qur’an says, “He is with you wherever you are.” [57:4] We say, “Aha, ok.” “He is with you.” Such a person doesn’t taste this. He is with you wherever you are. He says, “So? What should I do?” “We are nearer to him than his life-vein.” [Qur’an 50:16] He says, “Aha.” Such a person’s brain has shut down! Tell him, “‘Wherever you turn, you are always in the presence of God.’ [Qur’an 2:115] Can you see how God has encompassed you?” But a person still feels lonely. This means you haven’t tasted the sweetness of faith. You should taste its sweetness. Do you remember when you were a little kid? As soon as your mom or dad would hug you, you would say, “Yes! Now I’m in my place. He/she is holding me. This is better.” When I was a child, I would go into my dad’s embrace in cold weather. When he would hold me under his cloak, all the problems in the world were solved for me in his embrace. After growing up, your dad’s cloak was supposed to be replaced with God, but it hasn’t happened. So you thought it’s natural for human beings to feel it’s just them. No, it’s not human beings that feel it’s just them. Yes, it’s… um... I don’t want to say sheep. They feel it’s just them, not human beings. Human beings have not been created to feel they’re alone. God says, “He is with Me. I’m with him Myself.” Faith is sweet, beautiful, and beloved - faith itself! For God’s sake, look how indifferent we are about what is happening in the world. Tell him, “‘Wherever you turn, you are always in the presence of God.’ Can you see how God has encompassed you?” But this person still feels lonely. Don’t have self-confidence!
We have “self-confidence” in our terminology. But, there is no such thing as self-confidence in the religious texts. People tell us, “Have self-confidence.” What do they mean? They mean you should have spiritual power and strength, so that you can make decisions firmly and take action firmly. Stand by what you say. Don’t be shaky. This is what they mean by self-confidence. But, in Islam, the Qur’an, and discussions about the traditions and religion there is no talk about self-confidence at all.
When we say self-confidence, do we mean spiritual power and strength? God says, “Yes, having spiritual power and strength is a good thing. But, why do you want to gain it through self-confidence? This is very wrong.” We say, “So how should we gain this spiritual power and strength?” God says, “By trusting in Me! Why trust in yourself?!”
There is a wrong term, which people often use. It’s self-confidence. It is very wrong. An ignorant person trusts in himself. I have all these weaknesses. As the Qur’an says, I am “unjust and ignorant.” (Qur’an 33:73) I am so ignorant. How can I trust in myself? “But, you’ll become unsteady.” “No, not at all.” So if you don’t have confidence in yourself, where have you gained this strength?” “I trusted in God.”
A child doesn’t have self-confidence. He trusts in his parents. He is even calmer than we are. Ayatollah Bahjat used to say, “Children are never worried about tomorrow’s food.” Because they say, “Mom will provide it. What’re you saying? Dad will provide it.” He has no doubt that his parents will provide food. A child doesn’t have self-confidence. That is why he strongly trusts in his parents. He is constantly connected to his parents and won’t let go of them.
Have you seen a child in a gathering sitting and playing next to his parents? The parents get up to go somewhere, and the child starts screaming, “Don’t go. Sit down!” They say, “I’ll come back.” “No! If you go, I can’t count on your coming back. I have to be with you.” Whoever hugs him, he won’t listen at all.
We should scream in the same way if we move away from God. How does a child depend on his parents and stay calm? We’re supposed to trust in God in this same way and find peace. We want to cut our ties with God and stand on our own feet. God says, “Ok, go ahead. Poor person, you are ‘unjust and ignorant.’ Every moment you are unjust to yourself. You are acting ignorantly every moment.”
“Won’t our self-confidence be ruined when you call us, ‘unjust and ignorant?’ You say that we are so ignorant and unjust.” “Yes, your self-confidence will be ruined. Are you supposed to have self-confidence?” “Sir, if a person doesn’t have self-confidence, he’ll become unsteady and weak.” “Compensate your shakiness and weakness with God!”
There is a wrong term, which people often use. It’s self-confidence. It’s very wrong. A child doesn’t have self-confidence. That is why he strongly trusts in his parents. He is constantly connected to his parents and won’t let go of them. We’re supposed to trust in God in this same way and find peace. Trust in God!

In this deceitful world that we live in, there are many ways that Shaytan tries to entrap us into his evil net of oppression, sin, and the disobedience of Allah.
What should we say to our youth who tell us that they are indulging in something for only one time?
What do these habits and attachments of ours do to us when we are about to die?
What is the difference between the word \\\"Insan\\\" and \\\"Bashar\\\" as regards to the holy Qur\\\'an?
Finally, what does the tradition that says: build a barrier between yourself and sin, means?
Find out the answer to these and many more questions in this beautiful and moving clip by Agha Ali Reza Panahian.
And do yourself a favor, don\\\'t get attached to the walls and door of this materialistic world because it will only make dying much more difficult?

Salam my dear. How are you?
“May I come up?”
Come dear.
Do you want to sit here while I’m talking? Shall I talk while you’re sitting here?
“Read.”

During the days and nights of the holy month of Ramadan, we should reap the most benefit. How can we receive light from this month? How can we benefit from God’s Grace in this holy month of Ramadan? By paying attention! This is the main factor.
The most important capacity we have in our soul and which we don’t usually benefit from is paying attention. Paying attention is not usually considered to be something that valuable. No matter how much you stand behind a store window and say, “I have truly paid attention to this car behind the window,” this is not something valuable in this world. People say, “You shouldn’t have paid attention to it.” But it is exactly the opposite when standing before God. Whoever has gained something, he has gained it by paying attention to God wholeheartedly and by beseeching Him. In the beginning, paying attention happens in one’s mind.
“I have turned my face to Him Who has created the heavens and the earth…” [Qur’an 6:79] A person should pay attention to God in his thoughts. Gradually, when this paying attention becomes deeper, it turns into paying attention with one’s heart. A person faces Him with his heart. “I have turned my face to Him…”
“Salam.”
Salam my dear. How are you?
“May I come up?”
Come dear. Come. It’s fine. Come up. Do you want to sit here while I’m talking? Shall I talk while you’re sitting here? Sit here; I’ll talk. You sit, I sit, and we’ll talk. It’s not a problem if I talk?
“No. Read.”
Read? She says read. Do you want to go down or are you comfortable sitting here? Do you want to go down? She says she won’t come. Let her be.
“Candy…”
No, no, leave her.
“I’ll take her. She’ll be distracting.”
No, will you be distracted?
“No.”
[Audience,] “Haj Aqa, we shouldn’t pay attention [as you were explaining].”
Don’t pay attention. She got the candy from you but didn’t come. Of course I am happy to be in the presence of this luminous child. She’s so pure. See. This dear child reminded me of Mr. Baha’udini. His son-in-law related, “Once, I came home, and I saw the children were very noisy. But he was sitting and thinking deeply. I said, ‘Children, be quiet!’ I quieted them. Then, Mr. Baha’udini noticed me. He said, ‘What do you want with the children?!’ I said, ‘I thought they shouldn’t be noisy and bother you.’ He replied, ‘What do they have to do with me?’ I realized that children do not distract Mr. Baha’udini at all.”
This ability to pay attention is very valuable. Paying attention means that my face, my soul and my heart are turned toward You God. I’m paying attention to You now. “I have turned my face to Him Who has created the heavens and the earth…” Paying attention to whom? To the One Who has created the heavens and the earth! God doesn’t want anything from His servant. He says, “Just pay attention to Me.” God gives everything to His servant. He’s not stingy at all.
God has created us so that He may give to us. God doesn’t want anything. God doesn’t like negligence. He says, “Why aren’t you paying attention to Me?” When a person pays attention, that’s it. Don’t leave your soul unattended to pay attention and become busy with everything it wants. Say, “Wait, I should have a program for myself now.” In order to strengthen your attentiveness, you should pay attention to your sorrows, my dears. Nothing will drag a person’s attention to itself like sorrows.
Find beautiful spiritual sorrows and pay attention to them. This is what supplications do. This doesn’t mean we should be sad. It means we should pay attention. If crying and sorrows help, even better. Now what if sorrows distract us from God? That’s a nasty sorrow. Having a sorrow that does not cause a person to pay attention to God and which distances him from God is very bad. This doesn’t mean having sorrows. It means paying attention, and we should gain this ability.
O God, help us to leave this holy Month as people who are attentive. There were times when we paid attention to other things besides You. Especially if we have enjoyed them too - very bad! “I ask for Your forgiveness for every pleasure other than remembering You.” [Imam Sajjad (as), Al-Dhakirin Supplication] God doesn’t want anything from His servant. He says, “Just pay attention to Me.” God gives everything to His servant. He’s not stingy at all. God doesn’t want anything. God doesn’t like negligence.
During the days and nights of the holy month of Ramadan, it is by being attentive that we benefit. How good it is to recite the Qur’an while being attentive. How good it is to pray while being attentive. Do your work while being attentive. Do your work, but your heart should be with God.

This is the root of all sadness, unrest, anxiety, and depression!
God dislikes a person who acts indifferently towards God’s Kindness. For example, a verse says, “Call on Me and I will answer you.”(Qur’an, 40:60) This is a display of kindness. “Call on Me and I will answer you.” Immediately, the Almighty God says in this same verse, “Those who are too proud to worship Me shall enter Hell utterly abject.” I’m telling you My dear to call on Me and I will answer you. A person says, “Ok, later.” God calls this being too proud to worship.
Do you know what the punishment of Hell is for? It is not for some rules that you didn’t obey! Is God like a policeman or the rules for driving?! No! Hell is for being bold against someone who is kind! This brings punishment. The Imam (‘a) has sworn that, “People won’t be saved from their sins unless they confess to them.” Say what your problem is. Have your realized it? If you’ve realized it, I’ll save you.
Now we want to say, “God we have a problem. Our problem is that we haven’t believed in Your Kindness. We have no understanding about Your Mercy, and we don’t pay attention or benefit from it. My whole life has been spent being indifferent about Your Kindness. All of my concerns are due to being indifferent about Your Kindness. All of my depression, all of my attachments to things, are due to being indifferent about Your Kindness.” An Arabic poem says, “Your sin is from within, which no sin can be compared with.” How should I repent from this?
I live without understanding Your Kindness! I am not sure that You are kind and will give my sustenance. I don’t work in order to create something, because of Your order, and for Your satisfaction! I say, “I should work; otherwise, I’ll stay hungry. What are you saying?!” My life is based on not believing in Your Kindness. I argue with this person and that person due to not believing in Your Kindness. I think they can take something from me.
I am jealous due to not believing in Your Kindness. I think someone else has taken my share. God says, “I have kept your share. Why are your jealous? Forget them!” I feel a lack of affection due to not believing in Your Kindness. I feel lonely due to not believing in Your Kindness. I go after worthless entertainments because I don’t believe in Your Kindness to be able to enjoy Your Kindness. I go somewhere else to enjoy. I don’t believe in Your Kindness; otherwise, I would have become a good person.
What will happen if we believe in God’s Kindness? Suddenly we will see all of God’s actions to be due to His Kindness. When we look at the stars, we will start crying. When we look at the mountains, plains, and deserts, we will start crying. When we see a child, we will start crying. When we see an old man hunched over and walking with a cane, we will start crying. God! You love all of these. You have created all of them. You give sustenance to all of them. When we see the birds flying, we will start crying. We will live!
Our problem is that we haven’t believed in Your Kindness. We have no understanding about Your Mercy, and we don’t pay attention or benefit from it. I don’t believe in Your Kindness; otherwise, I would have become a good person.

Furthermore, are verses in the noble Qur\'an, which are related to an event, specific to that event only; or are they applicable to the present-day?

An Attitude, which God Dislikes in People
God has introduced people as being ungrateful and thankless, meaning they are very ungrateful. People are ungrateful beings. If two people are sitting next to each other in a taxi, or in a gathering for breaking the fast, and one asks, “What’s new?” they start to talk ungratefully. They list all the problems, one by one.
Yes, these problems exist. But, praise the Lord, you are healthy, and God has given you a long life with dignity. There is safety and other blessings in society, yet a person states the problems first. The culture of ungratefulness is a culture in which people see the empty half of the glass, even if just the top of the glass is empty.
Such an attitude exists in people. Some people have sunk deeply into this attitude. They get upset, depressed, and angry too. This attitude of being ungrateful has become very ingrained. They consider being ungrateful to be something very serious. You tell them, “Sir! Remember all of your blessings. Be a little happy because of them! Was it good if you had cancer or something now?”
I am coming here after going to visit two people. One was in the hospital and one at home due to accidents. In a moment, a healthy youth was stricken with such a situation. We should thank God. We have gone on trips many times without being hurt. God dislikes this attitude in us very much. In conclusion, if God wants to highlight a fault in people, it’s ungratefulness.
This verse may be strange to you. Many people have never heard it. That’s because they don’t usually make a poster out of this verse. But, you should. It’s an admonishment. It says, “Perish the human! How unthankful he is!” (Qur’an 80:17) People would ask the Messenger of God (s), who was crying all the time, \"Why do you bother yourself so much?\" You are the dearest to God. He’d say, “I’m afraid I won’t thank Him enough.” This means, he worried he may be unthankful.
Our situation is clear! We should evaluate each of our attitudes to see if there is ungratefulness in it. Ungratefulness is like bad weather. It’s like Autumn, which causes the leaves to fall. It’s like a chill, which is very annoying. Ungratefulness definitely accompanies all sins. We have to be very careful of this attitude.

[Clip] Are you willing to race? |Agha Ali Reza Panahian 2019 Farsi Sub English
Are you willing to race
Agha Ali Reza Panahian
What does racing mean? It means that I have to win. Do you understand? I have to defeat you.
In a group prayer, you see the first row is empty....
Are you willing to race
Agha Ali Reza Panahian
What does racing mean? It means that I have to win. Do you understand? I have to defeat you.
In a group prayer, you see the first row is empty. When I go different places to pray, I see the first row is empty. I say, “Please go forward.” “No sir! You go ahead.” “Doesn’t standing in the first row have more reward?” “Sir. Go ahead. It’s yours.” Look at those sitting in the back rows! The first row is empty! “Go stand in the first row!” “I don’t want to. This is good enough.” Is this the place to be humble?
Do you know what the Holy Prophet (s) said? You won’t believe what I say until I tell you what the Prophet (s) said. You’ll think, “What was he talking about?!” The Prophet (s) said, “Standing in the first row has more reward.” What should two believers do if they arrive at the same time? The Prophet said, “They should cast lots.”
“I’m in need.” “No, I’m in need!” “I got here first!” “No, I did!” “So let’s draw.” They should toss a coin or something. “No way. I can’t pass on this. I’m sorry.”
All of Imam Husayn’s (‘a) companions in Karbala were racing. Who won? Aba al-Fazl al-Abbas. It’s obvious. Others envy his position. It’s a race. “So race in goodness.” (Qur’an 2:148)
[From the series of speeches under the topic of, “What is sinning? How should we repent?”]
