A new report by the Pakistani government has put the civilian death toll caused by US assassination drones at a surprisingly lower figure than previous estimates by government and independent organizations. Pakistan\'s Defense Ministry announced that only 3 percent of people killed by drones since 2008 were civilians. According to the ministry, the US has conducted about 320 drone strikes during that period, killing over 21 hundred militants and 67 civilians. The figure has sparked criticism from public opinion and groups that have been investigating the assassination drones. Lebanese nationals who were held captive by insurgents in Syria now talk about their ordeal. One of them has described the captors as inhuman. Abbas and ten other Lebanese nationals were snatched by militants in Syria as they were returning from a visit to religious sites in Iran in 2012. He says the kidnappers constantly tormented them during the 17-month detention. The man says the psychological abuse they suffered at the hands of the hostage takers was even worse than the physical torture. Another ex-hostage says the captors kept telling lies to them about their fate to mentally torture them. The hostages arrived in Beirut on Saturday and were greeted by cheerful crowds.

The protesters, most of them women, carried signs reading stop taking our resources. Police attacked protesters using batons, beating and injuring many of them. Many of the injured were women and children. No arrests have been reported. The European Parliament is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a new four-year fishing agreement with Morocco that would allow more than 120 EU fishing boats to use the waters of Morocco and the Western Sahara. Western Sahara is a disputed territory in North Africa. Most of the territory has been controlled by Morocco since 1991.

British newspaper, The Times, reported that three of the British nationals were killed in August as their group attacked the Syrian government forces near the northern city of Aleppo. British intelligence agency MI5 says that between 200 and 300 young British men have moved to Syria to fight against the government of President Bashar al-Assad.
