French President François Hollande has demanded answers from US President Barack Obama about the National Security Agency\'s spying on French citizens. In a statement, Hollande also expressed his deep disapproval of Washington\'s eavesdropping on millions of French people\'s phone calls. Hollande said spying activities between allies are not acceptable because it is a violation of French citizens\' privacy. Meanwhile the US says some claims by the French press about its information gathering are distorted. Earlier, the US State Department announced that it does not want to see its ties with France damaged due to the issue.

Germany chancellor has called the U-S president to demand immediate clarification on reports that the U-S spied on her.
The German government spokesman says Angela Merkel had made clear to Barack Obama that if the information proves to be true, it would be completely unacceptable and represents a grave breach of trust. This, after Germany said it had received info that the U-S is spying on Merkel\'s cell phone communications. But the White House says Obama has assured Merkel that her phone is not being monitored. The U-S spying scandal is taking center stage after fugitive American whistle-blower Edward Snowden revealed the details of the program. Washington\'s espionage scandal has already caused outrage among Italian, French, Mexican and Brazilian officials.

A new report suggests Pakistani government officials have for years secretly endorsed the U-S drone campaign in their country.
The report published by the Washington Post is based on leaked secret C-I-A documents and Pakistani diplomatic memos. It says Pakistani officials routinely obtained classified briefings despite their condemnations of the drone strikes. The files describe dozens of attacks in Pakistan\'s tribal region during 2007 and 2011. They include maps as well as aerial photographs of the targeted areas taken before-and-after the attacks. Former Pakistani premier Yousuf Raza Gilani has vehemently denied giving the U-S the approval. This comes as the current Pakistani prime minister urges the U-S president to end the attacks. Nawaz Sharif has warned that drone attacks could undermine ties between the two countries.
