==============================
Aba al-Fazl (as) came to say goodbye to Husayn (as). My I be sacrificed for how youβre crying. How did Husayn (as) use to show his affection to Abbas (as)? When calling him, Husayn (as) used to say, βMay I be sacrificed for you.β He loved him very much. I donβt know how Zaynab (as) used to call Abbas (as). These were their private conversations. Imam Husayn, his Imam, said, βMay I be sacrificed for you.β Zaynab was his sister and sisters are more compassionate, tender-hearted and loving. She was a sister and full of affection.
For example, consider when they were on the way. It was Godβs mercy that detailed memories of this caravan while travelling to Karbala have not been recorded. [Itβs as if they say,] βWhy do you want to know?β For example, they havenβt recorded Zaynab saying, βMy Abbas, get Ali Asghar. Hug Ruqayya for a minute.β I want to say, βO Aba al-Fazl, donβt go into the battlefield. Donβt go. I plead you.β
Abbas came to say goodbye. Husayn (as) said, βDo you want to leave Husayn alone?β Alas for Abbasβs sorrows and sufferings. O Abbas, go and see what you can do for Husayn (as). You will have to become a martyr. But at least bring this waterskin back with some water so that you can relieve your sorrow a little by doing this. Abbas had so much hope and picked up that waterskin so confidently that the children felt less thirsty. They told each other, βOur uncle is going to bring water.β βDid you see how our uncle picked up the waterskin?! Thatβs it. Rabab, hold onto Ali Asghar. Water is coming. The way our uncle picked up the waterskin shows that weβll have water soon.β When the enemies would beat Husaynβs children while traveling to Damascus, they would call for their uncle! How could they tell the children that their uncle would not return anymore?! He picked up the waterskin so confidently that everyone thought the same.
Abbas (as) expected the same. There is a sentence in history books that shows Aba al-Fazl was surprised himself too. When his hands were cut off, he didnβt care. But as soon as an arrow struck his waterskin, it is said that Abbas stood still. O Abbas, you didnβt expect this? It was then that he begged God to take him [due to his shame].

A Noha about various martyrs of Karbala
Noha Lyrics:
Chorus:
Father of young Ruqayya; Akber, Asghar and Sajjad
Brother to al-Mujtaba, and abul-Fadhil Abbas
1
\\\"Al-Atash\\\" Rukayya cried; thirst apparent in her eyes; Allah-Allah
\\\"Al-Atash\\\" Rukayya cried; sorrow in her father\\\'s eyes; Allah-Allah
\\\"Al-Atash\\\" Rukayya cried; verve is in Abbas\\\'s eyes; Allah-Allah
\\\"Al-Atash\\\" Rukayya cries, her eyes meet Abbas\\\'s eyes, Allah-Allah
Ruqayya\\\'s hopes began to rise, her uncle would heed her cries
The children gathered around; watched the flag fall to the ground
From that point until her death, al-Atash had left her breath
2
Allahu Akber the adhaan came; the morning of the main campaign; Allah-Allah
Akber stood facing falsehood; ready to fight protecting good; Allah-Allah
Like the Prophet in every way; How did his father give him away; Allah-Allah
To battle he rode unconstrained; uncle Abbas had him well trained; Allah-Allah
Husayn went running at his behest; the spear embedded in his chest
If Ali looked down, he\\\'d cry; what evil my son must defy
Husayn pulled out that metal shard; the gates of Khayber weren\\\'t that hard
3
\\\"Hal-min nassir yansurunaa\\\"; calling out to the shia; Allah-Allah
Asghar\\\'s lips so dry with thirst; denied by that army cursed; Allah-Allah
Took that baby to the tent; showed them what their treatment meant; Allah-Allah
Those few that still had some heart; ran towards river Furaat; Allah-Allah
Hurmala raised his arrow; about to cause such great sorrow
The tiny throat no longer cries; this soul with Allah resides
The ground and sky are so aggrieved; that kind of blood they don\\\'t receive
4
Battle over, one man remains; tied up in hot burning chains; Allah-Allah
With inner strength he maintains calm; for now he is the true Imaam; Allah-Allah
Tortured and dragged through the street; this story he does repeat; Allah-Allah
The message spreads so far and wide; the message of Islam survives; Allah-Allah
Zainab and Imam Sajjad; sermons to Ibne-Ziyad
In Shaam young Ruqayya rests; with all the pain her wounds suggest
We await Al-Mehdi the holy guide; for only then will truth reside
5
Al-Hassan could not be there, but his letter his son did bare; Allah-Allah
Only an Imaam could know, such foresight Hassan did show, Allah-Allah
While he sought peace all his life, he knew his brother would face such strife; Allah-Allah
When Qasim sought to go and fight, that letter let him give his life; Allah-Allah
The young soldier could barely climb, on the horse even that time
In the battle he fell off his steed, Imaam rushed out to his need
Trampled Qasim is what he saw, but Imaam did not withdraw
6
Al-Atash Ruqayya cries; thirst apparent in her eyes; Allah-Allah
Permission Abbas does seek; he can\\\'t help but protect the weak; Allah-Allah
Haider\\\'s son so brave and pure; the flag held high and so assured; Allah-Allah
At the river would he drink first; horse nor man obey their thirst; Allah-Allah
He takes the mushk towards the tent; he must deliver its contents
The arrow hits his eye and bag; his arms cut off he drops that flag
Salaam on you brother Husayn; Islam\\\'s victory you must attain

[15 Dec 2013] Afghanistan street children struggle to feed families - English

Afghanistan is grappling with serious economic and social woes over a decade after a US led invasion of the country. The government has also been criticized for failing to deal with these problems. The economic plight has forced a large number of Afghan children to work on the streets to try to feed their families.
Kabul has a population of around six million people. Among them are around 600,000 street children who live in tough conditions. Most of them belong to fatherless families. These families depend on their children to try to find a way to survive. Umar is one of those children who have to work. A US night time air raid on their village in Kapisa province left Umar\\\'s father dead. Soon after the family lost its breadwinner, Umar left his village for Kabul. Now he lives with his uncle\\\'s family. But as his uncle is a simple shoe maker, Umer has to work too. For Umar it\\\'s a constant struggle to feed himself and send some money back to his family in Kapisa every month. Afghan president Hamid Karzai expressed his concern about the living conditions of street children in a recent address on the Afghan National Radio. Karzai asked International organizations including UNICEF to pay more attention to the issue. But some experts are pointing the finger at the afghan government and western countries for failing to do much. Today\\\'s children are the men of Afghanistan\\\'s future. But what many afghans are asking is how these poor street children who are not receiving any education will play a positive role in Afghanistan\\\'s future.

A Noha about Abu Fadhl Abbas
Noha Lyrics:
Chorus
Where has my Abbas gone
Where has my Abbas gone
1
Oh Abbas you were my uncle
Oh Abbas you were my brother
Oh Abbas you were my son
Like you there was no other
You went to search for water
You searched so far and wide
You went for your brothers daughter
In your search for her you died
2
You hear the thirsty children
You hear them and you hurt
Their hopes are slowly dimming
So you ride out to Furaat
Your brother was your master
Before him you\'d never drink
To Furaat you rode much faster
For Ruqayyah you only think
3
The thirst how it pains them
You hear it in your mind
\"Al atash\" uncle Abbas
Why were they so unkind
Your mushk is full of water
You turn to the camp of Husayn
You\'re bringing this for his daughter
But you never see her again
4
Oh Yazid may Allah curse you
You denied Hussein some water
You killed his six month son and
You tortured his little daughter
Shackled and abused her
Look her earrings have now gone
She asks her headless father
\"Where has my Abbas gone?\"
5
Oh Zainab where\'s your brother
The one who stood by you
His support was like none other
His heart was pure and true
Look Zainab to the river
Look there and you will moan
For there is the children\'s saviour
Butchered and all alone
6
Oh Muslims when you\'re thirsty
Remember the thirst of Abbas
He rode out to the river
But would not break his fast
If Husayn has not had water
And Ruqayyah\'s lips are dry
Then Abbas will not have water
Then Abbas would rather die
7
Oh Abbas the selfless brother
You showed such qualities
The bravery of your mother
The patience of Ali
This world so many suffering
There is just so much wrong
Now we\'re your ummah asking
Where has my Abbas gone

Remember the thirst of Abbas
He rode out to the river
But would not break his fast
If Husayn has not had water
And Ruqayyah\'s lips are dry
Then Abbas will not have water
Then Abbas would rather die
7
Oh Abbas the selfless brother
You showed such qualities
The bravery of your mother
The patience of Ali
This world so many suffering
There is just so much wrong
Now we\'re your ummah asking
Where has my Abbas gone
