Female activists are said to be playing a major role in the shaping of Yemen\'s political future, as they work to resolve the nation\'s most pressing issues in a National Dialogue Conference.
The NDC is a historic six month event which is designed to resolve the Yemen\'s most pressing issues through peaceful negotiations between the country\'s top political and tribal leaders.
However, as the Yemeni uprising has displayed through the past two years, the youth of Yemen and mainly Yemeni females, will no longer tolerate being left aside from playing a pivotal role in shaping their country\'s future.

[27 June 2012] Israel playing game on settlements expansion - English
The Israeli authorities have begun evacuating the illegal outpost settlement Ulpana, near Ramallah, in order to demolish 30 housing units. This decision came following the Israeli Supreme court's ruling that the outpost was deemed illegal due to them not gaining legitimate permits from the authorities to build the settlement. However as compensation, Israel has promised to build 300 new housing units in the nearby settlement of Beit El, which remains illegal under international law. Although ostensibly Israel is distinguishing between settlements built with permits and those constructed on private Palestinian land, the practical result of this is an expansion of the Beit El Settlement.

The U.S. is playing a double game in Afghanistan - fighting terrorists that it itself created. That's according to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who's visiting Kabul. Ahmadinejad's comments came after the US defence secretary Robert Gates accused Iran of supporting Taliban insurgents. Tehran has been helping Afghanistan combat the drug trade and rebuild infrastructure. Hamid Karzai said he hoped Tehran could further help restore peace and stability in the country. Foad Izadee, Professor of political studies at Tehran University believes Iran's involvement is more welcome in Afghanistan than Washington's.

What is your purpose in practicing religion? We can mention other reasons for our religiosity. They are right too. But it\'s not suitable to word it like that. Itโs not nice or pleasant to say it like that. [We can count them,] โOne, two, three, four.โ Usually the reasons mentioned are not accurate. Itโs more accurate to say, โI want to enjoy more.โ
Why do you want to enjoy more in this world and in the Hereafter? Because God has created me to enjoy, not to suffer. God is kind. He has allowed me to experience pleasures and has created me in a way that I pursue enjoyments. He doesnโt say, โDonโt touch it! I want to bother you.โ Is God like this?! One doesnโt understand God if he thinks he hasnโt been created to enjoy.
Have you seen how some fathers are a little grudging? God forbid, I donโt want to insult fathers. Or some employers or bosses. For example, a father sees his child is playing. As soon as he sees his child playing, he says, โShouldnโt you be studying now?!โ [The child says,] โYou canโt tolerate me playing? You have to remind me now?!โ Some people think the same way about God. They think God likes to see us suffering!
What is your purpose in practicing religion? Donโt say, โSo I wonโt go to Hell.โ Donโt say, โIโm forced to.โ Only a part of this is true! Donโt say, โThis is Godโs right.โ What will happen next after you carry out Godโs right? Will you enjoy it? [Youโll say,] โNo, Iโm not after enjoying.โ You force me to say something! I have to tell you, โKiddo! Youโre not at that level! Youโll go astray with one small pleasure. And now youโre talking about carrying out Godโs right?!โ
Human beings have been created to enjoy. โWhy do you practice religion?โ To enjoy. โIs practicing religion the way for us to enjoy?โ Yes! Now the second part of the discussion starts. Yes, no one else knows how to show the way. [One might say,] โNo, God is showing us how to stay away from sins.โ God is not that boring! God has created me to enjoy. Is it rational for Him to not let me enjoy? [He wonโt say,] โIโve created you to enjoy, but donโt touch anything! Go away!โ This is a misconception about God! Such a God is not kind.
We say, โIn the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.โ God Who is kind has created me to enjoy. We canโt deny this. Wouldnโt this be unkind for Him to tell me to move away [from pleasures]?
What is your purpose in practicing religion? We can mention other reasons for our religiosity. They are right too. But it\'s not accurate to word it like that. Itโs more accurate to say, โI want to enjoy more.โ

The night comes, but Cito and Hana are not there to make them go to bed. The buses stay up playing hide-and-seek, watching TV, and practicing driving. Gani goes over the repair shop, dizzy from too much driving practice. He\'s soon joined by Tayo and Rogi as they play hide-and-seek, as well as Lani, who is angry about not being able to watch TV because of those two. The repair shop becomes a mess and Gani\'s life is put in danger. The young buses don\'t know what to do. It\'s a relief when Hana and Cito appear suddenly to fix the problem. Abu Bakr Saddique was raised by a woman known around the city of Buffalo, NY as a champion of human rights and a helper of the poor. In his neighborhood of mostly Italian-American immigrants, Saddique says there was one incident that stood out for him in particular.
โI was out front playing. We were in the projects โ only black family on the street. And I saw this lady. She was a white lady. She was walking down the street and she was going from apartment to apartment โ and we lived in a row house. People were slamming the door in her face. She got to our house, and my mother opened up the door and invited her in. So Iโm out playing, everything is tight. Weโre on welfare. I go into the house and there was this woman sitting down there โ eating. I said, โwoah, what is this? Man, sheโs eating up our food.โ You know? And my mother, it was like she didnโt care. She said, โshe needed to eatโ. She gave her food and she gave her some money. Yes. Thatโs how she was. And she said, โalways be kind to strangersโโ.
Saddique was six and the year was 1953. He says his motherโs character and behavior in situations like this prepared the ground for his eventual conversion to Islam. Saddique first learned about the religion in fourth grade.
โThere was Niagara Street Library. I got a book on the Crusades about Richard the Lionheart. That peaked my interest in Islam because they couldnโt say anything about Salahuddin Ayyubi not being good. I saw Muslims in the 50s โ some NOI (Nation of Islam), some orthodox. Malcolm X also used to come to Buffalo a lot in the 50s and 60sโ.
It wasnโt until 1973, when Saddique was training at an Army base in Texas, that his interest in Islam began to take shape.

Kathleen McQuillen of American Friends Service Committee shares her thoughts. We also hear from Rachels
Father. The words of Rachel speak so strongly for the rights of the people of the Gaza and the West Bank.
We all need to be more informed and stronger advocates for all peoples human rights.
Playing the part of Rachel is Julie Rada. Julie does a wonderful job with this part. The director, Brian Freeland is Executive Artistic director for The LIDA Project.
