Human right activists and people of conscious assembled outside US consulate on Sunday 3rd January 2016 to condemn and mourn Sheikh Baqir al-Nimr’s illegitimate execution by the Saudi regime.
The rally began with Quran recitation followed by chants condemning the Saudi monarchy, their US master and Canadian government for exporting arms to the Saudi government.
The spoken word by the youths highlighted the brave and courageous, non-violent stand of Sheikh Nimr against corruption of Saudi rulers and human rights violation. The speech by the religious scholar questioned the false accusation of terrorism against Sheikh Nimr, despite the fact that Sheikh Nimr always supported the roar of the words against authorities rather than weapons. Human right activist highlighted the influence of US imperialism and Zionism on the Saudi monarchy.
Protestor’s young and old stood strong in the harsh weather condition holding placard that read, “The tyrant dies and his rule is over, the martyr dies and his rule begins”. They concluded with their spiritual batteries charged and with firm determination to remember martyr Sheikh Nimr and to continue his mission.

Episode 2 of the ground-breaking new film following the journey of five students as they make their way to the Holy land of Karbala.
In this episode, the students step foot into the Holy City of Najaf, where they are thrown into the thronging crowds of the colourful city. Contrary to expectations, the students find the atmosphere to be overwhelmingly welcoming.
Here, the fascinating history of the lands of Iraq are explored. From the ancient civilisations of Akkad and Babylon to the short but sweet reign of Imam Ali [a], Iraq is bursting with intricate meaning. The people of Iraq, despite the adversity that surrounds them prove to be full of love. The pilgrims- and students themselves- show that they have not forgotten their “Master” Imam Ali, whose shrine stands tall in the centre of the ancient city.
The students find a place to rest, and hope to set out to pray at the shrine of Imam Ali the following morning before beginning the walk to Karbala.
What is it about the ancient city of Karbala that captivates Muslims? What makes approximately 30 million people travel there each year?
The ziarat [pilgrimage] to Karbala is considered a sacred journey for Muslims across the world, especially the followers of Ahlulbayt (as).
Every week, Islamic Pulse will be releasing two episodes of ‘When He Calls’ by the will of God, so stay tuned!

At Arbaeen with all we come to you
Your grave, Ya Hussain, we strive to
We’ll walk just like the way you went
Towards Abbas when your back had bent
Our wish… our wish… our wish is for Karbala
***
For Arbaeen, even if both our arms are slain / We’ll come with our heads Ya Hussain
For your misery, walking we will be, in Arbaeen
Take us, towards endless bliss with you
One who, beautifies life itself too
Take us to Karbala, oh Hussain
Where life returns back to me again
With all we come to you
With all we come to you
With all we come to you oh Hussain

My master! May all in love be lost in you!
All eyes are tearful just for you
All cry out in pain, no heart can contain, grief of Hussain
I come to you with yearning eyes
Near you the peak of my pleasure lies
I wish, on Furaat, I was its dew
So I could quench your thirst for you
?When will we see you
?When will we see you
?When will we see you and you see us

With each step, begins to beat this heart of mine
Longing the sight of the shrine
On the tips of tongues, the hymns of sorrow, Zainab in mind
Everyone has come from everywhere

Your Arbaeen is equal, oh Aba Abdillah, to life
Your Arbaeen is a memory that no one can endure
I approached to count your numerous wounds, but they were too rife
Master! From you and Zahra s.a, forgiveness, I wish to secure
Speaking of your trials is tough, should I start from your head or the stone?
The stone that struck, making your forehead bleed, left an impression
Or should I recall horses wrecking your chest as you lay prone?
It’s tough talking of your Zainab after all her oppression
On a camel, marched through streets, steered by foes in captivity
But, Aba Abdillah, the most testing thing she had to face
Was when she was able to see Shimr, armed, on your chest, with clarity
Your Arbaeen is a fire inside, that time can’t erase
