Will the United States lift its illegal unilateral sanctions on Iran? Well, it seems like it won\'t unless Washington stops listening to Israel. But who is mainly affected by the sanctions? Reports from Iran\'s health sector show cancer patients and hemophiliacs are hurt far more than the country\'s nuclear program. The sanctions have hindered Iran\'s international financial transactions. And that has made the importation of vital medicines extremely difficult. The country\'s pharmaceutical industry is also unable to produce those medicines because of a shortage of raw materials. But after the latest round of nuclear talks with Iran, the United States hinted that it\'s ready to ease the pressure. However, Washington is under immense pressure from Israel and Saudi Arabia not to lift its illegal embargo, which is hurting ordinary Iranian citizens.

Israel has stopped a survey aimed at reviewing its popularity among American Jews.
An Israeli official says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed to halt the survey without citing a reason. Israeli consulates were tasked with distributing questionnaires among American Jews. The survey-- in partnership with two Jewish groups-- included sensitive questions such as relations between American Jews and Israel. People were also asked about their loyalties to Israel as well as their perception of pro-Israel lobbying in Washington. Two recent surveys in the US show a majority of American Jews are critical of Israel\'s policies. In one survey, some eighty percent of American rabbis said they avoided expressing their real stance on Israel and its conflict with Palestinians \"out of fear\".

NATO is holding one of its largest post-Cold War military drills near Russia\'s borders.
Poland and the Baltic states are hosting the war games launched on Saturday. Code-named \"Steadfast Jazz\", the exercises involve some SIX thousand troops from NATO as well as non-member states such as Finland, Sweden and Ukraine. Around half of them will participate in live exercise training, which will involve armor, aircraft and naval vehicles. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen says the week-long war games are designed to prepare forces to defend any ally from an unidentified foreign invader. NATO\'s recent actions have raised tensions in the region. Russia has already expressed concerns over NATO\'s missile and radar deployments in Eastern Europe calling them threats to its security.

Iran says it\'s ready to negotiate a comprehensive and final deal on its nuclear energy program. The preliminary accord, which was reached on Sunday, meant to lay the foundations for a comprehensive agreement later this year.
Zarif was speaking at Tehran\'s Mehrabad Airport upon arrival back home from Geneva. He said the Iranian nation showed that no one can talk to them through pressure. Zarif also said Tehran\'s right to uranium enrichment is enshrined in the nuclear deal. Based on the interim deal, Iran has agreed to limit the level of its enrichment activities for the next six months in exchange for the easing of sanctions. Peugeot-Citroen was the worst affected French company when the U-S and its allies imposed sanctions against Iran in 2012. Until then, the car-maker had been sending spare parts to its former partner Iran-Khodro. When it stopped doing so, it entered a period of deep crisis which led to thousands of job cuts in the company. In a country facing record high unemployment, this was a shock.
With the new deal between Iran and five permanent members of the U-N Security Council plus Germany, the sanctions on Tehran are eased, bringing a mix of respite and caution to labor unions.
Peugeot Citroen\'s share prices rose just a day after the ease on sanctions was announced.
Before the sanctions, the company was the biggest player on Iranian roads.
Peugeot has recently announced it is hiring a new chairman in 2014.
But labor unions are skeptical if Carlos Tavares can really turn around the car-maker\'s fortunes.
In the coming days, Tehran will host the first international car makers\' conference on Iranian auto-industry. And that is where French car brands will find out, if they will dominate Iranian roads as they once did.

Iran\'s President Hassan Rouhani says Tehran wants to enrich uranium on its soil within the framework of the recent nuclear deal with the P-five-plus-one countries. He says Iran is committed to its peaceful nuclear program.
During a meeting with visiting Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, President Rouhani also said the Geneva agreement recognizes all Iran\'s rights including the right to enrich uranium. In a clear signal showing Pentagon\\\'s determination to maintain its military presence in the Persian Gulf, the US Navy is expanding its Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain.
Under the 580 million dollar expansion project, the Naval Support Activity Bahrain which is home to the US Fifth Fleet is expanding to an adjacent 77-acre piece of land along the waterfront. Under the plan, the US Navy base will nearly double in size. Since 2008, the base personnel has more than doubled from 3000 to 7000. The US Navy initially took over the base from the British Royal Navy in 1971 when it covered just 10 acres of land.

In Egypt, an alliance of Islamic groups called anti-coup alliance has finally made its widely-expected announcement about the constitutional referendum slated for January.
The alliance was formed following the July\'s ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi --- a move which it sees as a military coup. In its long-awaited announcement, the alliance said it had weighed the option of rallying for a No-vote, but finally decided to go for a boycott. The alliance said it\'s against the referendum, because it will be held by a government which it says has killed and detained many people following Morsi\'s ouster.

The Syrian Army has made more advances in its fight against foreign-backed insurgents.
In its latest operation, the army ambushed insurgents in the mountainous area of al-Qalamoun north of Damascus. According to government sources, as many as 150 militants were killed in the attack. Damascus says among those killed were members of the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front. Syrian troops have stepped up their mop-up operations in Qalamoun - a strategic region whose full liberation will give the government forces a significant edge over the militants. A newly disclosed document shows that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation allowed its informants to break the law in 2012 on even more occasions than it did the previous year.
In a letter to Justice Department officials earlier this year, the FBI disclosed that its nationwide offices permitted informants to break the law nearly 6,000 times in 2012. The numbers represent a five percent increase from 2011\\\'s officially sanctioned crimes. The crimes ranged from acts of violence and selling drugs to bribing government officials. Ever since it was revealed by the newspaper USA Today that a Boston mob boss was allowed to continue running his crime syndicate because he was providing information, the FBI has been required to document the criminal activity it authorizes. But while the bureau has done this for over a decade, other law enforcement agencies still do not.

The Sun has undergone a \\\"complete field reversal,\\\" with its north and south poles changing places as it marks the midpoint of Solar Cycle 24.
Experts say that the reversal of the Sun\\\'s magnetic field is, literally, a big event and it is a regular part of the solar cycle. While it may seem like the event could have catastrophic repercussions for the galaxy, its effects are actually more subtle, mostly interfering with space exploration. Some researchers say cosmic rays are a danger to astronauts and space probes and might affect the cloudiness and climate of Earth. NASA has released a visualization of how the switch occurs. Beginning in 1997 and ending in 2013, it shows the green positive polarity switching with the purple negative polarity. Solar Cycle 24 has been viewed as quite unpredictable. First, it came late by about a year, with extremely low activity recorded throughout 2009. This prompted astronomers to shift a predicted 2012 peak to 2013.

The European Union will immediately lift some of its economic sanctions against Iran now that the country has suspended enrichment of uranium to the 20-percent purity level at Natanz and Fordow nuclear sites.
The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that these measures implemented the first steps of the historic agreement reached between Iran, the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany last November. The Islamic Republic has also started the process to dilute and oxidize its 196-kilos stockpile of 20-percent-enriched uranium.
