[23 June 2012] Egypt may be facing hard coup - English
Egyptian protesters have remained in Cairo's iconic Liberation Square, protesting the delay in announcing the winner of the presidential elections and the risk of a coup by the country's military rulers. A delay in the run-off results, which had been due on Thursday, has raised widespread suspicions that the result is being negotiated rather than counted. Many fear that the delay is the army's move to declare former premier Shafiq the winner.
Press TV has conducted an interview yesterday with Hisham Jaber, director of the Center for Middle East Studies, to hear his opinion on this issue.

Iraqi prime minister Nuri al-Maliki warns that his country is facing QUOTE \"a war of genocide\" which is targeting all of its components.
Maliki blamed al-Qaeda for a wave of unrest that has gripped Iraq for the past months. He said attacks by the terrorist group has killed Iraqi citizens and destroyed their houses. However, he warned, that a front formed of different components will confront the terrorists. Comments by the Iraqi prime minister came as over four dozen people were killed in two days of attacks across the country. The Indian economy is facing further trouble. There is a financial crunch in the global markets. This will dry up the foreign investments in the country. Rising interest rates in United States has triggered the crisis. Investors are selling-off in the Asian stock markets. They have already withdrawn heavily from Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines. Indian rupee too has already depreciated by 8% in the last few weeks and that is going to push inflation. The country imports most of it crude oil requirement. Oil is its single biggest import commodity. The retail prices of petrol and Diesel has been increased. Gold is another major import component.

One year after taking office, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi is facing pressure from all sides.
It appears that Morsi is losing support rapidly, whether it is domestically or internationally. Many Egyptians say he is rigid and has not kept his pre-election promises of improving the economy and establishing security.
Meantime, supporters of Morsi say that he was democratically elected and must be given a chance. All this as security is deteriorating and violence increasing in Morsi\\\'s Egypt, one year after the fact.

Syrian forces recapture more than half of a strategic city near the border with Lebanon. Some are describing this and similar advances as a game-changer that will eventually lead to an end to more than two years of a deadly insurgency against President Bashar al Assad.
As the US and Russia agree on a peace conference, others are asking can peace talks work as long as terrorists from all over the world continue to operate within Syrian soil.
Reports of the discovery of Israeli-made equipment have also raised questions on the extent of cooperation between the insurgents, regional Arab states and Tel Aviv.
