Iran unveils a new air defense system. On Monday Iran\\\'s Defense Ministry alongside the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Aerospace Force (IRGC AF) unveiled a domestically built mobile air defense system called \\\"Herze 9\\\". Iran\\\'s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi commented on this new achievement. \\\"Herze 9\\\" can identify and target enemy helicopters, rockets and fighter jets at low ranges and low altitudes of about 8-12 kilometers. This mobile air defense system uses the most technologically advanced computer hardware and software and the latest navigation system available today. Brig. Gen. Washington calls Beijing\'s declaration of an air defense zone over the East China Sea provocative. White House spokesman Jay Carney says the United States does not recognize the plan and will NOT comply with it. He says the US will continue to conduct its military operations in the region like before. Carney also says China\'s behavior is not consistent with its role as a major power and called on Beijing to scrap the air defense zone. China says its decision to establish the air defense zone in the East China Sea is in line with international laws and Washington should respect it.
