Speaking at the 25th anniversary of celebration of the national media watch group, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, world-renowned political dissident and linguist Noam Chomsky analyzes the U.S. response to the popular uprisings sweeping the Middle East and North Africa. Democracy Now! was there to tape his speech. "Across the [Middle East], the overwhelming majority of the population regards the United States as the main threat to their interests," Chomsky says. "The reason is very simple ... Plainly, the U.S. and allies are not going to want governments, which are responsive to the will of the people. If that happens, not only will the U.S. not control the region, but it will be thrown out."

The book discussed in this edition of Epilogue is "Gaza in Crisis: Reflections on Israel's War against the Palestinians" written by Noam Chomsky & Ilan Pappé.
Israel's reckless use of military machine against defenseless Palestinian people is all done with a quiet approval of USA and the European Union. From the targeting of schools and hospitals, to the indiscriminate use of white phosphorus, Israel's conduct in 'Operation Cast Lead' has rattled even some of its most strident supporters.
In this book, Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappé survey the fallout from that devastation, and place the massacre in Gaza in the context of Israel's long-standing war against the Palestinians.
"Gaza in Crisis is" a rigorous, historically informed and much-needed analysis of the situation in Gaza.

Gaza is a maximum security prison, something like Guantanamo, basically a torture chamber under a constant harsh and brutal siege.
A seige is an act of war; a total seige is a major war crime.
And its not dramatically different in the West Bank where just about everything going on there is in violation of international law.
This talk by Noam Chomsky, given on 6 December 2009, is titled Gaza - One Year Later.
