Arbaeen, a Pattern for Life
Agha Ali Raza Panahiyan
Friends, do you know what the philosophy of justice is? It is to prepare the environment for us to live together like human beings with affection. Like Arbaeen! The highest peak of a human beingâs life is not human rights. Itâs to live like human beings, like Arbaeen!
In the world, there are many people who are untainted, loving, and ready to accept the truth. I plead you go and introduce your religion, which is based on affection, enjoyment, and loving the âFriends of God,â to the world. I beg you.
They donât know about our religion. There are many misunderstandings about it. They have made the Daesh (ISIS) to increase the worse misunderstandings. These misunderstandings have caused some of our wretched, westernized people to become infatuated with the west. See what it has done to the west itself?! They donât know how much you enjoy this religion.
Western people who have seen Arbaeen think this is a religious rite. People are forced to go there. These were devout people, who are going because they were told to. I told this to some French people on this path. They had come from France, and we talked using a translator. People were gathered from 20 nations in a Mawkib (resting place). I told them one thing and they lost their control. I told them, âDid you know if people donât come here, they wonât go to Hell?â
I explained this for them and they were surprised! They said, âReally?! Isnât it a religious command?!â I replied, âNo, itâs not a command, for which theyâll be punished if they donât do it. They wonât go to Hell if they donât feed others.â They asked, âSo why do they do this?!â I said, âDue to their love!â They had reached the middle of the way and were blaming themselves why they hadnât understood what was going on there! This is a religion based on âyearning for it.â It is based on love and enjoyment.
One of the scholars in Najaf said, âThere was a peddler. We went to his very small house. But, he served a lot of food! I told him, âYouâre not that wealthy to give such food. What is your job?â He wouldnât answer and evaded the question. He was a peddler in the streets of Najaf. He said, âI put aside half of the money I earn every day for the Arbaeen of Imam Husayn (âa).ââ
We want this life! Beyond law! Beyond justice! Beyond ethics! Sacrifice! Sacrifice! This is not a joke. You are inviting people to sacrifice. A system based on sacrifice! Not a system based on fairness. Those who say that Arbaeen canât be a pattern for life to the extent of an entire civilization, are the ones who had mocked the prophets of God. âWoe to human beings! Whenever a Messenger came to them, they mocked him.â (Qurâan, 36:30)
Why did they mock the prophets?! If you talk about ethics, no one will mock you! If you talk about justice, no one will mock you! If you talk about worshiping, no one will mock you! Do you know what the prophets said that people mocked them? They said, âLetâs live in an environment, like that which exists for the Arbaeen walk.â They mocked the prophets.
One might say, âItâs impossible! In case anyone has an accident, we should have insurance. You say people come due to their love. What if they donât come!â They mock this.
If you give control of Arbaeen to the secular system, they will say, âTo prevent quarrels when distributing food, weâll hand out coupons. How many days will you be on the way?â âFour days.â âThree meals per day. Take your coupons and go. Weâve given that part to the private sector. We will charge tolls and distribute food there.â Theyâll TOTALLY RUIN Arbaeen!
Iâve heard one of the authorities, maybe mistakenly, has said, âWe want to do something from next year to eliminate the Mawkibs on the borders and give them to the private sector.â
Actually, we want to do something to the world for it to be managed like the Mawkibs. Youâre doing the opposite. You havenât understood Arbaeen at all. Why do you think people sense spirituality and luminosity there? Life based on affection.
Any one of the government officials, who serves Arbaeen, should be respected. Anyone, who doesnât do enough, has hatred towards the Household (âa). But, if they do want to do anything, they can prepare people based commissions. A base and infrastructure of sacrifice, which is the truth of Arbaeen, should be prepared!
Iâve seen physicians who were specialists on this way. He had come because of his love and worked constantly. He had even given money himself to build the place there. He had brought medicines himself too. The tribes from surrounding areas were bringing their sick people to be treated. These people said, âWe keep our sick people and wait to bring them to be cured by the Arbaeen physicians!â
This is our pattern! Friends, Arbaeen will take over the world. This is the government of the Imam of the Time (âa.j.), which we believe will take over the world! Weâll change the world with a civilization that is based on this sacrifice and affection, which is in Arbaeen!

A Hundred Times More Affectionate
God divided affection into 100 parts. He kept 99 parts for Himself and gave one part to people. He divided that one part into 100 pieces and gave 99 parts of it to the âGuardians.â He gave one part to all the people who are living together affectionately. For example, affectionate people are mothers towards their children.
We sometimes become worried for a mother whose child, for example, has been killed or tortured in front of her. If such a story gets into the news or social media today, the entire world will discuss it. They say, âSee how brutally they have killed a child in front of his or her mother.â
How much does a mother love her child? How much does the Imam of the Time (âa.j.) love his nation? It is obvious that they canât be compared. So arenât the massacres that happen in the world sorrowful for the Imam? Those who cry for the absence and loneliness of the Imam of the Time (âa.j.) havenât done anything special. This is very natural. Because they are crying for a heart, which is full of sympathy. It is full of sympathy for even all the mothers of the world. They cry for the heart, which is broken.
The affection of the Imam for one person is 100 times more than the affection of a mother for her beloved child. If a tragedy or oppression happens in a corner of the world, isnât this a huge incident for that kind heart? If a person is not so selfish, heâll see itâs more important than our own concerns. More important than all the concerns I have in my life, are his concerns. There is no news more important than the news about the Imam of the Time (âa.j.) in the world. There is no sorrow above the sorrow of Sayyid al-Shuhada (âa) in this world for a person to care about.
Some peopleâs love for the âGuardians from Godâ has reached to where all their concerns are them. Their concern is, âWhat situation are the âFriends of Godâ in now?â The reappearance of the Imam of the Time (âa.j.) has been realized in some peopleâs hearts. The Imam governs their hearts. Here we should say, âHazrat Mahdi (âa.j.) has appeared in our hearts. â
Some peopleâs love for the âGuardians from Godâ has reached to where all their concerns are them.

Christianity Under Question! | Imam Khomeini (R)
The impression today\'s Christianity has painted in people\'s mind is that Christianity is all about LOVE, AFFECTION, and CARE etc. Yet, while we see millions of people subjected to oppression and cruelty, we find Christian authorities and scholars to be quiet! Is it not ironic? Where is that love and passion for the needy and the oppressed? Where is your support for the dying kids of Yemen; where is your support for the innocent Palestinians; where is your support for all the oppressed people of the world who are waiting for your love, affection, and care! What would Jesus do to stop the oppression?!

[Clip] God, why do You take it to Yourself | Agha Ali Reza Panahian Dec.04 2019 Farsi Sub English
God, why do You take it to Yourself?
When we go to a doctor and he gives us a prescription for a very fatal disease, if we donât do what he says, we wonât constantly apologize to the doctor....
God, why do You take it to Yourself?
When we go to a doctor and he gives us a prescription for a very fatal disease, if we donât do what he says, we wonât constantly apologize to the doctor. If we apologize to him once, heâll say, âThis doesnât have anything to do with me.â Heâll certainly say this. He says, âYou donât need to apologize to me.â But, the Almighty God has brought Himself into the middle of human beingsâ lives.
I love you more than your mother does! God has created this world in an orderly manner. Look at the universe. In this world, which God has created orderly, He has given will, authority, and freedom to human beings. This human being makes mistakes and does misdeeds. Itâs strange that God has called this sinning. âGod, I have ruined myself, âI have harmed myself.â (Qurâan 28:16) I have bothered myself. Why do You take it to Yourself?â
A person has put his hand on a butcher block and cut his fingers with a cleaver. âWe have harmed ourselves. When we harm ourselves, why do You somehow take it to Yourself?â Why did the Almighty God make the schedule that He gave us with commands, in such a way that any misdeeds we do in this schedule, are against Godâs commands? God says, âIf you make these mistakes, you have disobeyed me. When you harm yourself, I get upset with you. The things that are in your favour, I order you to do.â God talks with insistence and fervour. He keeps taking people to Heaven or Hell (in the Qurâan)! His talks are totally promotional. âGod why do You do this?!â
He replies, âDonât you understand why Iâm upset? I love you more than your mother!â âGod, even if You donât command me, I still have to do these. Why do You involve Your commands in this?â Isnât this due to the severity of Godâs fondness towards His servants? What other philosophy could it have? What is Holy War (Jihad)? Defend yourself against the enemy. What is ethics? You should have a good behaviour. Itâs strange that if we donât do these, God calls them sins. âYou have sinned against My command!â âGod, why do You get upset when I beat myself?â Doesnât this show Godâs severe fondness towards us? For example, God forbid, is God a mean king that has said something in general and if you donât listen, Heâll get upset, rage and punish you severely! It is not like this at all. Why should God need this? Itâs only due to the severity of His affection. It doesnât have any other reason.

A Gathering of Love and Vitality
Agha Ali Reza Panahian
The world is a world of brands and advertising. In such a world, some people spend billions to make a brand name. Then, they trade with that brand. We donât have a good packaging industry for our cultural products. We donât know how to introduce them.
We have an extremely superb, delicate, and beautiful humane event, which is crying due to love. The people of the world wish for a moment of the times, which you easily have in your hands and are drowned in, to be able to experience it for a moment. If they can affect people with a movie or TV show for a moment, like the moments when you easily cry in the religious meetings, and they make people cry, that movie will become universal.
It is easy to make people laugh. But, making people cry, especially due to love, canât be easily found. It canât be found in the world. âWhat are they doing?â The people of the world donât believe that you can cry due to enjoying, due to an epic, and due to very deep feelings of affection. This is a cultural and humane product. We are unable to introduce this. No one is aware of it.
Such that, you have definitely seen it, a religious leader in the west in a very large amphitheatre starts chanting and reading a recitation. He tells everyone, âStand up and beat your chests as I read.â The custom that you have, the truth that exists, the event that occurs, the harmony that exists in a crowd and they all become a chorus, and they all do the same thing, is so attractive in the world.
An action like beating the chest, which you do in religious gatherings, is sweet and attractive for the people of the world. Donât think they even have one percent of this. No, no. Your chest beating is very different to what happens there.
I went to Canada. Some young, intelligent, Iranian students said, âSir, we really need an ethics class here.â I said, âActually it is not like that at all. If you want an ethics class, go near their dance parties on Sundays. See how tired, depressed and forlorn they are when they come out. Then, remember in Iran how cheerful people are when they come out of religious meetings. Compare these two, and see what is going on where.â
The people of the world wish for a moment of the times, which you easily have in your hands and are drowned in, to be able to experience it for a moment. Your chest beating is very different to what happens there.

[Clip] The best gift that spouses can give each other | Agha Alireza Panahian July 22,2019 Farsi Sub English
The best gift that spouses can give each other
Qurâan, Chapter Rum, verse 21, says, âAnd one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves.â God, why have You done this?...
The best gift that spouses can give each other
Qurâan, Chapter Rum, verse 21, says, âAnd one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves.â God, why have You done this? Let God explain it Himself. âHe created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them.â
What is the main thing at home? What is it? Love? No. Is enjoying the main thing? No. Is benefiting the main thing? No. Is bearing children the main thing? No. Is reputation, credibility or social dignity the main thing? No. What is the main thing? ââŠthat you may find rest in them.â The purpose of having a family is calmness. No matter what happens, calmness should not be destroyed in the family.
First, calmness! If you consider the other good benefits from a family to be the first thing, you have disorganized everything! Everything is ruined. For example, you say, âThe first use of a family is affection.â In this verse of the Qurâan that we talked about, there is affection too. But, affection isnât first. It says, âI will give you affection too. There should be affection between spouses too. But, if you put affection instead of calmness and ruin each otherâs calmness because of affection, there wonât be affection or calmness.â
For example, a person puts pleasure instead of calmness and says, âSensual pleasure is the first thing for me.â Or no, comfort. A person is comfortable at home. What happens if you put comfort instead of calmness? Youâll destroy yourself and your family. âI want to be comfortable.â For you to be comfortable, you are destroying your spouseâs calmness. Then, you wonât be comfortable either!
What restricts our behaviour and our other goals and benefits in life, is calmness. Calmness shouldnât be disrupted. Everything should be with calmness. Everything should come after calmness. If a woman wants to criticize her husband, or if a man wants to criticize his wife, they should be careful not to ruin calmness.
Think, âI wanted to insult him or her, or I wanted to say something, which was true. [There is no difference if it is a man or a woman.] I want to insult him or her, or say something else. Or even, I want to say something very true and very important! If I say this, calmness will be eliminated.â So, the first thing is calmness.
Letâs turn âcalmnessâ into the main slogan of the family. A woman and a man can truly gift calmness to each other. âHe created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them.â What has God determined to be the goal of a family? Calmness. No matter what happens, calmness should not be destroyed in the family.
Calmness shouldnât be disrupted. Everything should be with calmness. Everything should be after calmness.

The bitter events brought about by blind terrorism in France have once again, moved me to speak to you young people.
In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful
To the Youth in Western Countries,
The bitter events brought about by blind terrorism in France have once again, moved me to speak to you young people. For me, it is unfortunate that such incidents would have to create the framework for a conversation, however the truth is that if painful matters do not create the grounds for finding solutions and mutual consultation, then the damage caused will be multiplied.
The pain of any human being anywhere in the world causes sorrow for a fellow human being. The sight of a child losing his life in the presence of his loved ones, a mother whose joy for her family turns into mourning, a husband who is rushing the lifeless body of his spouse to some place and the spectator who does not know whether he will be seeing the final scene of life- these are scenes that rouse the emotions and feelings of any human being. Anyone who has benefited from affection and humanity is affected and disturbed by witnessing these scenes- whether it occurs in France or in Palestine or Iraq or Lebanon or Syria.
Without a doubt, the one-and-a-half billion Muslims also have these feelings and abhor and are revolted by the perpetrators and those responsible for these calamities. The issue, however, is that if todayâs pain is not used to build a better and safer future, then it will just turn into bitter and fruitless memories. I genuinely believe that it is only you youth who by learning the lessons of todayâs hardship, have the power to discover new means for building the future and who can be barriers in the misguided path that has brought the west to its current impasse.
â
Anyone who has benefited from affection and humanity is affected and disturbed by witnessing these scenes- whether it occurs in France or in Palestine or Iraq or Lebanon or Syria.
It is correct that today terrorism is our common worry. However it is necessary for you to know that the insecurity and strain that you experienced during the recent events, differs from the pain that the people of Iraq, Yemen, Syria and Afghanistan have been experiencing for many years, in two significant ways. First, the Islamic world has been the victim of terror and brutality to a larger extent territorially, to greater amount quantitatively and for a longer period in terms of time. Second, that unfortunately this violence has been supported by certain great powers through various methods and effective means.
Today, there are very few people who are uninformed about the role of the United States of America in creating, nurturing and arming al-Qaeda, the Taliban and their inauspicious successors. Besides this direct support, the overt and well-known supporters of takfiri terrorism- despite having the most backward political systems- are standing arrayed as allies of the west while the most pioneering, brightest and most dynamic democrats in the region are suppressed mercilessly. The prejudiced response of the west to the awakening movement in the Islamic world is an illustrative example of the contradictory western policies.
â
I genuinely believe that it is only you youth who by learning the lessons of todayâs hardship can be barriers in the misguided path that has brought the west to its current impasse.
The other side of these contradictory policies is seen in supporting the state terrorism of Israel. The oppressed people of Palestine have experienced the worst kind of terrorism for the last sixty years. If the people of Europe have now taken refuge in their homes for a few days and refrain from being present in busy places- it is decades that a Palestinian family is not secure even in its own home from the Zionist regimeâs death and destruction machinery. What kind of atrocious violence today is comparable to that of the settlement constructions of the Zionists regime?
This regime- without ever being seriously and significantly censured by its influential allies or even by the so-called independent international organizations- everyday demolishes the homes of Palestinians and destroys their orchards and farms. This is done without even giving them time to gather their belongings or agricultural products and usually it is done in front of the terrified and tear-filled eyes of women and children who witness the brutal beatings of their family members who in some cases are being dragged away to gruesome torture chambers. In todayâs world, do we know of any other violence on this scale and scope and for such an extended period of time?
Shooting down a woman in the middle of the street for the crime of protesting against a soldier who is armed to the teeth- if this is not terrorism, what is? This barbarism, because it is being done by the armed forces of an occupying government, should not be called extremism? Or maybe only because these scenes have been seen repeatedly on television screens for sixty years, they should no longer stir our consciences.
The military invasions of the Islamic world in recent years- with countless victims- are another example of the contradictory logic of the west. The assaulted countries, in addition to the human damage caused, have lost their economic and industrial infrastructure, their movement towards growth and development has been stopped or delayed and in some cases, has been thrown back decades. Despite all this, they are rudely being asked not to see themselves as oppressed. How can a country be turned into ruins, have its cities and towns covered in dust and then be told that it should please not view itself as oppressed? Instead of enticements to not understand and to not mention disasters, would not an honest apology be better? The pain that the Islamic world has suffered in these years from the hypocrisy and duplicity of the invaders is not less than the pain from the material damage.
â
Dear youth! I have the hope that you- now or in the future- can change this mentality corrupted by duplicity, a mentality whose highest skill is hiding long-term goals and adorning malevolent objectives.
Dear youth! I have the hope that you- now or in the future- can change this mentality corrupted by duplicity, a mentality whose highest skill is hiding long-term goals and adorning malevolent objectives. In my opinion, the first step in creating security and peace is reforming this violence-breeding mentality. Until double-standards dominate western policies, until terrorism- in the view of its powerful supporters- is divided into âgoodâ and âbadâ types, and until governmental interests are given precedence over human values and ethics, the roots of violence should not be searched for in other places.
Unfortunately, these roots have taken hold in the depths of western political culture over the course of many years and they have caused a soft and silent invasion. Many countries of the world take pride in their local and national cultures, cultures which through development and regeneration have soundly nurtured human societies for centuries. The Islamic world is not an exception to this. However in the current era, the western world with the use of advanced tools is insisting on the cloning and replication of its culture on a global scale. I consider the imposition of western culture upon other peoples and the trivialization of independent cultures as a form of silent violence and extreme harmfulness.
Humiliating rich cultures and insulting the most honored parts of these, is occurring while the alternative culture being offered in no way has any qualification for being a replacement. For example, the two elements of âaggressionâ and âmoral promiscuityâ which unfortunately have become the main elements of western culture, has even degraded the position and acceptability of its source region.
So now the question is: are we âsinnersâ for not wanting an aggressive, vulgar and fatuous culture? Are we to be blamed for blocking the flood of impropriety that is directed towards our youth in the shape of various forms of quasi-art? I do not deny the importance and value of cultural interaction. Whenever these interactions are conducted in natural circumstances and with respect for the receiving culture, they result in growth, development and richness. On the contrary, inharmonious interactions have been unsuccessful and harmful impositions.
We have to state with full regret that vile groups such as DAESH are the spawn of such ill-fated pairings with imported cultures. If the matter was simply theological, we would have had to witness such phenomena before the colonialist era, yet history shows the contrary. Authoritative historical records clearly show how colonialist confluence of extremist and rejected thoughts in the heart of a Bedouin tribe, planted the seed of extremism in this region. How then is it possible that such garbage as DAESH comes out of one of the most ethical and humane religious schools who as part of its inner core, includes the notion that taking the life of one human being is equivalent to killing the whole humanity?
One has to ask why people who are born in Europe and who have been intellectually and mentally nurtured in that environment are attracted to such groups? Can we really believe that people with only one or two trips to war zones, suddenly become so extreme that they can riddle the bodies of their compatriots with bullets? On this matter, we certainly cannot forget about the effects of a life nurtured in a pathologic culture in a corrupt environment borne out of violence. On this matter, we need complete analyses, analyses that see the hidden and apparent corruptions. Maybe a deep hate- planted in the years of economic and industrial growth and borne out of inequality and possibly legal and structural prejudice- created ideas that every few years appear in a sickening manner.
â
Any rushed and emotional reaction which would isolate, intimidate and create more anxiety for the Muslim communities living in Europe and America not only will not solve the problem but will increase the chasms and resentments.
In any case, you are the ones that have to uncover the apparent layers of your own society and untie and disentangle the knots and resentments. Fissures have to be sealed, not deepened. Hasty reactions is a major mistake when fighting terrorism which only widens the chasms. Any rushed and emotional reaction which would isolate, intimidate and create more anxiety for the Muslim communities living in Europe and America- which are comprised of millions of active and responsible human beings- and which would deprive them of their basic rights more than has already happened and which would drive them away from society- not only will not solve the problem but will increase the chasms and resentments.
Superficial measures and reactions, especially if they take legal forms, will do nothing but increase the current polarizations, open the way for future crises and will result in nothing else. According to reports received, some countries in Europe have issued guidelines encouraging citizens to spy on Muslims. This behavior is unjust and we all know that pursuing injustice has the characteristic of unwanted reversibility. Besides, the Muslims do not deserve such ill-treatment. For centuries, the western world has known Muslims well- the day that westerners were guests in Islamic lands and were attracted to the riches of their hosts and on another day when they were hosts and benefitted from the efforts and thoughts of Muslims- they generally experienced nothing but kindness and forbearance.
Therefore I want you youth to lay the foundations for a correct and honorable interaction with the Islamic world based on correct understanding, deep insight and lessons learned from horrible experiences. In such a case and in the not too distant future, you will witness the edifice built on these firm foundations which creates a shade of confidence and trust which cools the crown of its architect, a warmth of security and peace that it bequests on them and a blaze of hope in a bright future which illuminates the canvass of the earth.

Once a man picked up a few baby birds. He thought, âTheyâre so cute. Let me take them to the Prophet (s).â The mother bird came. She started flying around them. He thought, âIâll take them to the Prophet (s). Their mother is coming too.â He placed the birds in front of the Prophet (s). The Prophet (s) saw their mother and said, âMove back!â Their mother came and threw herself on her baby birds. The Prophet said, âDid you see how this mother bird put herself in danger because of her baby birds? Does she love them?â Everyone said yes. The Prophet (s) said, âGod loves you more than this mother.â
In another story, a mother lost her infant baby. In the middle of a battle, she was crying loudly. When she found her baby, she started nursing him. The Prophet (s) said, âCome here. Does this mother love her baby?â Everyone said, âYes, of course. She did everything to find him.â He asked, âIs she willing to throw him into a fire?â They replied, âO Prophet of God! No, of course not!â He said, âGod is kinder to you than this mother is to her child.â
Donât you enjoy participating in Imam Husaynâs (as) mourning ceremony? So why are you being rewarded for it? Let me ask this in a better way. Why are you given the highest reward? Why? Donât you enjoy? Isnât affection enjoyable? Isnât affection the highest enjoyment? So why are you being rewarded? Do you know why God rewards you? Because God is [kind] like a mom. When a child becomes happy, his/her mom becomes happy too.
When a youth is accepted into the university, his/her mom buys sweets. He/she says, âMom, why do you trouble yourself? Iâve succeeded for myself.â She says, âBecause Iâm your mom. When I see youâre fine, happy and enjoying, I do whatever I can for you.â God is more of a mom than a mom is!
Have fun and be rewarded by God! Why does God reward you when you wake up at dawn? [You might say,] âItâs very hard!â Believe me, its reward is not because itâs hard. The reward is because of the cheerfulness, energy and health that you gain. God is like a mom. When a mom sees her child is successful, she becomes happy. She talks lovingly since she is a mom, âO my dear one!â

A series of animated stories, showing the teachings and morals shown and taught by the Holy Prophet Mohammed (a.s.), the greatest man to have ever walked on the earth.
In the holy Qur'an, God has addressed the Prophet Muhammad:
`Thus it is due to mercy from God that you deal with them gently, and had you been rough, hard-hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you' (3:159).
The sublime celestial morals of the Prophet brought about the waves of the revolution of Islam first in Arabian society and afterwards all over the world. In the light of this all-embracing spiritual and intellectual resurrection, dispersion turned into unity, unchastity into chastity and virtue, idleness into hard work and industry, selfishness to altruism, and Arab arrogance to modesty and affection. Men and women were thus trained to become models of good moral behaviour and have altruistic manners forever. The morals of the Prophet were so sublime and praiseworthy that God has regarded them as great. `And truly you (Muhammad) possess great morals' (68:4)
