”«وَ جعَلَ بَینَکُم مَوَدَّةً وَ رَحمَة» “
… and He put between you love and compassion.” [Qur’an 30:21]
The Almighty God mentions three very important functions of marriage in this verse. Play these two roles. Men should play two roles for women. Women too should play two roles for men. However, some men and women aren’t able to play both of these roles. These two roles have been mentioned using the words “love and compassion” in this verse. They have been mentioned but not explained.
Your wife’s age is close to your age. And women have their own personalities. They might even manage you. They understand a lot too. Today’s women understand a lot. But sometimes they like to play the role of a spoiled, little girl who is being cute for her dad. In such a case, you should act like her father. You should act nobly. She may cry and complain. Say, “Aw, it’s ok. I’ll buy it for you!” Act nobly. Don’t act childishly. When she’s acting childishly you behave nobly. You’re like her father. Sometimes a woman plays this role.
At other times your wife isn’t playing the role of a little girl who is being cute for her dad. She plays the role of a mother for a little boy, which is you. You too sometimes become like a little boy who needs his mom. Women should keep this in mind that their husbands have just been separated from their moms! Today’s young men are a little spoiled. If you see a man who asks a lot for kindness from his wife, this means he has become a little too feminine. No, you’re a man. Be firm. But sometimes a man breaks down like a little boy and needs his wife to behave nobly. His wife should say, “It’s ok. It’ll be alright.” Like a mom. Have you seen how moms act at home? Women should play this role.
So the role of a little girl and a mom are two coupled roles that a skilled women should play at home. And the role of a dad and a little boy are two coupled roles that men should play for women.

Who says you should go to Karbala whenever you are in the mood
Agha Alireza Panahian
What if after the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (‘a.j.), they say, “Whoever went on the Arbaeen walk, was effective in preparing for the reappearance.” If your grandchild or child asks you, “Dad, did you go on the Arbaeen walk,” what will you answer?
Making a pilgrimage is something serious. You may go to the shrine when you are in the mood. That’s nice. You liked to go. When you go to Karbala you should say, “I am ready to help you.” Suddenly, everything becomes serious!
At least you should be able to say, “If I couldn’t go myself, I sent one person and paid his way. He was young and able to go to the shrine of Aba Abdillah al-Husayn (‘a) so it wouldn’t be empty.” “I am ready to help you.” This phrase is a part of the Arbaeen supplication. I have come to help you.
If you can’t go yourself, send your child, neighbour, or colleague. Go yourself too. Say, “Imam I have come to show and announce my presence, lest my name not be recorded here.” Imam Husayn (‘a) is holding a eulogy ceremony himself for Arbaeen.
Shall I give you some strange news? A person may wonder at this until the end of time! Some religious groups hold gatherings during the year, but they don’t do anything for Arbaeen. Isn’t that interesting? They spend and work hard for their eulogy ceremonies. But, about the eulogy that Imam Husayn (‘a) holds himself, they say, “There are others who will go.” What about you?
Imam Sadiq (‘a) saw one of his friends. The Imam (‘a) said, “I have heard that there are some people who love us and follow us, who haven’t been to Karbala for four years.” The man replied, “Many people are like this!” Imam Sadiq (‘a) said, “What will these people tell the Prophet of God?” The man said, “How often should a person go on this pilgrimage?” The Imam said, “Poor people, once a year. Rich people, twice a year.”
Should one go to Karbala based on his mood and when he wants to? Where have they said this? In which tradition has this been written? A soldier should go show and announce his presence.
Because we act like this and look at it in this way, the reappearance still hasn’t happened yet. What if after the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (‘a.j.), they say, “Whoever went on the Arbaeen walk, was effective in preparing for the reappearance.” If your grandchild or child asks you, “Dad, did you go on the Arbaeen walk,” what will you answer? A soldier should go show and announce his presence.
We have advanced in spiritual matters, Itikaf, and making pilgrimages. Praise God, see how many people come to Imam Reza’s (‘a) shrine or to the Jamkaran Mosque. But friends, we still haven’t reached the needed growth. Only two million people go on Arbaeen from Iran? How do you justify this? Didn’t Imam Hasan Askari (‘a) say this is a sign of being our follower? Don’t you feel responsible? Where will you be on Arbaeen?!

[21 June 2012] Should world be worried about emerging total war ideology" against Islam - Islam And Life - English
It is revealed by American magazine Wired in May 2012, that the American Army teaches its officers to "Use 'Hiroshima' tactics for a 'total war' on Islam". The course teaches officers there is no such thing as moderate Islam and that they should consider Islam their enemy. It advocated taking war to civilian populations using similar tactics as used in Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well possible nuclear attacks on the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and the wiping out civilian populations. The teaching material also suggests that there is no such thing as the moderate Islam and concludes "It is therefore time for the United States to make our true intentions clear. This barbaric ideology will no longer be tolerated. Islam must change or we will facilitate its self-destruction."
The Pentagon has confirmed the course material obtained by the magazine is authentic. The report says the officer who delivered the lectures, still maintains his position at the Norfolk, Virginia College, pending an investigation. It is not clear that how much of the similar material has been taught in the US Army. What is alarming according to BBC is that all those commanders, captains and colonels must have sat through the course and not felt anything unusual. It brings into question the validity of claims that killing at least 16 Afghan civilians by a US soldier was an isolated incident. This week's Islam and Life asks: Should the world be worried about the emerging "total war ideology" against Islam

At a time when Christians are making efforts to cherish the values taught by Prophet Jesus (PBUH), should Muslims take the opportunity to highlight a common understanding?
Of course, there are very important and fundamental differences between Islam and Christianity, but there is also a wealth of similarities.
Indeed, in the Holy Quran, God says, \"you will find the closest in love to the believers those who say: \"We are Christians.\" That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not arrogant.\"

Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei narrates and explains a tradition narrated from the Messenger of Allah (S), the holy Prophet Muhammad (S), where his eminence (S) tells us about, \"What You Should Feed Your Family\".
What is one of the attributes of a Mo\'min and a believer?
And what kind of food should the believer provide for their family?
And at times, what is the relationship between that which we imagine to be a Mo\'min and what truly is a Mo\'min?
When defining a Mo\'min, in what aspects of one\'s life must one be a Mo\'min?
And what does it mean when it is said that a person is a Mo\'min, but they are worse than Shimr?
What is an attribute of a Munafiq, a hypocrite?
And is the meaning of the words Munafiq in the context of the tradition at hand, the same as that which is found in the holy Qur\'an?
Finally, is all this advice limited to the just the father or the husband in the family, or is the mother and wife also included?
Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei expounds upon the wise words of the Messenger of Allah (S), the holy Prophet Muhammad (S), where his eminence (S) says to the believers and the Mo\'mineen to be careful of \"What You Should Feed Your Family\".

Contrary to its official mottos, modern Olympic Games have been very much politicized. Governments used it as a propaganda tool for their political ideologies, most notably nationalism.
It has been used to propagate Euro centrism, fascism, communism, racial superiority and of course as a marketing and advertising instrument.
Anti-racist and human right activists have used it as platform for their ideas. In 1980, to protest Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan, more than 60 countries followed the United States to boycott the Moscow Olympic Games.
Many Muslim countries joined the boycott, among them Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan.
In a similar way, the host nation of the 2012 London Olympic Games has invaded at least two Muslim countries. It still has military presence in one of the, Afghanistan.

Russia says the final decision settling the Iranian nuclear program should guarantee Tehran\'s right to developing a peaceful atomic energy industry and the security of all countries in the Middle East.
In his annual address to the Federal Assembly, Vladimir Putin said a breakthrough has been reached over the Iranian nuclear program but this is only the first step. It is necessary to carry out a patient search aimed at a broader solution to guarantee Iran\'s right to developing its peaceful atomic energy industry. On the missile system built by western countries, the Russian president said the missile defense system built by Western countries is defensive only in name. He added there is no need to develop the program after the recent world powers and Iran reached a deal on Tehran\'s nuclear program.

US President Barack Obama has told Congress his country should not impose new sanctions on Iran if it is serious in negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear energy program. Obama-- who has been speaking to reporters in his last press briefing of the year-- has refreshed his warnings that any new sanctions against Iran could derail the current diplomatic efforts to resolve the differences with Iran.
Obama says he understands why some US lawmakers want to \\\"look tough\\\" on Iran. But he says the US must give diplomacy a chance. Obama has further repeated threats that the US keeps all options on the table regarding Iran if it fails to comply to the terms of the nuclear deal that Tehran signed with the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany last month.

Our condolences to the believers all across the world upon these days of Muharram and the commemoration of the mission and martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Husayn (A).
What are the months in the Islamic calendar that have resulted in the safety and protection of Islam?
And what is the importance of mentioning the sufferings of the Ahl al-Bayt (A)?
And in what manner must one conduct these mourning ceremonies where the sufferings of the Ahl al-Bayt (A) are mentioned?
And what act of Imam Husayn (A) has kept Islam alive?
What should the speakers and orators of the mourning ceremonies speak about?
Finally, what do we need the people to be prepared for?
The esteemed Imam Ruhollah Khomeini (R) highlights that we need to prepare the people for sacrifice.
Imam Khomeini (R) answers the question: \"Should The Traditional Azadari Continue?\".

Thousands of angry Egyptians have camped out in the historic square since Wednesday, calling on the military council to quit power immediately as the electoral authorities delayed the announcement of the final results of the presidential run-off on Thursday as scheduled. Egypt's election committee said on Wednesday they want to look into all complaints from the two candidates before making an announcement. The protesters say the move could be a sign that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) is trying to declare former premier Ahmed Shafiq the winner.
Egyptians cast their ballots in a two-day presidential runoff election on June 16 and 17, which pitted the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, Mohammed Morsi, against Shafiq. On June 18, a member of the Egyptian Electoral Committee confirmed that Morsi is in the lead in the country's run-off presidential election. Early on the day, the Brotherhood had declared Morsi's victory over Shafiq in the voting. Officials from the group had said that Morsi has won 52.5 percent of the counted ballots.
