The Venezuelan president arrived in Iran on Monday for a three-day official visit, with the goal of boosting ties between Tehran and Caracas.
It is his ninth visit to Iran since assuming power in 1999 and comes almost one year after President Ahmadinejad paid a visit to Venezuela.
Iran has expanded bilateral relations with Latin America in recent years, especially in the commerce and industrial sectors.
Chavez and Iranian officials will be holding the eighth round of Iran-Venezuela energy talks as part of the two states' efforts to boost bilateral cooperation in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri plans to visit Iran in November in an effort to expand ties with the Islamic Republic, a newspaper close to his political alliance has reported.
Hariri announced his plans to visit Iran in a recent meeting of his Future Movement political party, major Lebanese daily An-Nahar reported, quoted by IRNA on Sunday.
The Lebanese daily, affiliated with the March 14 Alliance which is close to the Lebanese premier, said Hariri's visit will likely take place in late November.
Another influential Lebanese daily As-Safir also confirmed the reported planned visit and siad that Hariri's trip to Iran will likely take place on November 28 and 29.
An IRNA report from Beirut, however, quotes an informed source in Hariri's office as describing the reports as "media speculations."
While not denying the planned visit, the source stated that the "official date" of the visit has not been announced "though it will not take long for it to be set."
The Lebanese prime minister is due to visit Russia on Monday and then travel to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday for an official visit.
According to the IRNA report, Abu-Dhabi will be Hariri's next destination before his visit to Iran.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad led a high-level delegation in a landmark visit to Lebanon last October in which he emphasized Iran's determination to expand ties with the country in all fields.

Classical lecture by Hassan Abbasi slamming Ali Abtahi, Hassan Rowhani and various other Green Movement leaders for the sex slave trade scandal in Dubai and hypocritically living luxurious lives A large scandal hit what was to become the Green Movement by various reports in the 90's on various powerful members allowing Iranian women to be traded as sex slaves. Ironically, Dubai and Iran experienced the best political relations during the reformist era while this scandal was taking place. According to some various Green leaders were aware of what took place and were either paid off, or willfully remained quiet to keep it under the table.

Palestine edged past Pakistan 2-1 in the first-ever match at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore, the win taking the visitors one-up in the two-match series.
Although Pakistan lost, the match will be remembered for the 3,000 local and foreign spectators that filled the stands and cheered for their teams, sending a strong message to the world that Pakistan are back in contention to host foreign teams.
The game spirit and excitement in the sport-deprived nation was all they carried as local football fans have almost forgotten the Sri Lankan team attack and believe the incident is now history.
The chairman of Pakistan's Football Federation, the organizer of the match, had this to say:
The Pakistani team is scheduled to visit Palestine later this year for a return match.
Pakistan is among the supportive countries of Palestinian cause. With organizing this first ever football match between the two teams, Pakistan has assured its extended support in all fields for the people of Palestine.

Just days before the national day of Hijab and Modesty, hundreds of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran and other cities to throw their weight behind a nationwide move to confront un-Islamic dress or bad Hijab.
Chanting such slogans as, “Hijab saves family and society” the demonstrators urged the government to protect the Islamic law.
In the past few years Iran has established a moral police unit, which has been assigned to confront those, who fail to uphold Islamic dress code especially in the summertime; the moral security police caution those who do not observe Islamic dress code properly, both women and men.
Islam, like other religions, believes that personal freedom in this field should be exercised in a controlled way, since unrestrained freedom creates chaos, especially in family relations.
The demonstrators believe that family and school play a key role in promoting the culture of Hijab in the society, and this is not possible unless the government and the nation work hand in hand.
