Reports say Renault and Peugeot are gearing to reclaim their share of the huge Iranian market they lost after the implementation of anti-Iran sanctions in 20-11. Both companies are sending representatives to a crucial auto conference in Tehran that opens within hours. Their participation in the conference has been interpreted by the media as a sign to mark their early return to the Iranian market before other competitors. Renault and Peugeot have been production partners of Iran\'s domestic majors - Iran Khodro and SAIPA. Official data show the sanctions against Iran led to the unemployment of 100,000 workers and undermined the output of the two French giants.

The military-backed government in Egypt is planning to ratify a draft law on combating terrorism. The interim government wants to put the law into effect before the upcoming trial of Egypt\'s ousted president Mohamed Morsi on November 4th. The government expects potential unrest during the trial and fears that the mandatory expiry of the state of emergency laws in mid-November will pave the way for more protests. The curfew was imposed following the brutal crackdown against Morsi supporters at Rabaa and Nahdah and the ensuing violence.

Iran\'s Vice President for Strategic Planning, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht, in a press conference answered questions about the country\'s draft budget bill. The document was presented to Iranian Parliament by Iran\'s president Hassan Rouhani on Sunday. The 315 billion dollar draft budget bill is 7.5 percent more than last year\'s budget. It is made up of general budget which is 7.3 percent less and company budget that is 9.6 percent more than last year\'s budget. Nobakht stated that the increase in company budget sends an economic message to the private sector. Iranian Vice President added that the budget is set based on revenues mostly from taxes and customs, then oil revenue and last but not least government companies\' earnings.

Two weeks ago US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel was in Afghanistan but while he was there hoping to negotiate a security treaty, Afghan President Hamid Karzai flew to Iran to meet up with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani. According to the country\'s foreign ministry spokesman Karzai\'s brief visit to Iran on the 8th of December was aimed to strengthen economic ties, reviewing the state of Afghan refugees in Iran, and the trilateral cooperation of Iran, India and Afghanistan in expanding Iran\'s Chabahar port. Iranian Judiciary planning to reduce the number of prisoners. Some of the prisoners that have not committed violent crimes may serve their sentence outside of their cell while being monitored by advanced technology. Iran\\\'s second highest Judiciary authority talked about the issue. The spokesman for Iranian Parliament\\\'s Legal and Judicial Commission said that the program can reduce around a seventh of the prisoners who qualify for in its first stage. The GPS Monitoring System can be used in all locations even closed ones like subway. It sends a signal every half an hour to inform the authorities of the location of the criminal. At the moment eight countries including Netherlands, France, Thailand and United States use this technology.

Russian media reports suggest the UN Secretary General is planning to discuss reports of Saudi Arabia\'s support for terrorist groups in Iraq with Security Council members. According to Russia\'s Arabic-language TV channel Russia al-Yaum, Ban-ki Moon touched on the issue during his recent talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad. He also expressed concern over the rising violence in Iraq\'s western Anbar province. The UN chief urged Iraqi leaders to address the root causes of a surge in bloodshed in the violence-hit province. According to Iraqi media reports, one of the terrorist elements arrested in the country has confessed that Saudi Arabia is providing financial aid to al-Qaeda-linked militants fighting the Iraqi army.
