In late June, The World Heritage committee of the United Nation\'s Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, inscribed the Iranian Golestan Palace in its World Heritage List. This is the first Iranian monument among the other 15, which has been located in the heart of the capital, Tehran. The palace was built in Tehran in the 16th century during the reign of Safavid King Tahmasb. The site received its most characteristic features following extensions in the 19th century, when the ruling Qajar family selected the palace as the royal residence and seat of power. The palace was rebuilt to its current form in 1865 by Haji Abol-hasan Mimar Navai. On Sunday, an official ceremony was held just in front of the palace to celebrate inscription of the prestigious building on UNESCO list.

[29 June 2012] Morsi and the New Republic in Egypt - Middle East Today - English
Egypt's first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsi, has begun working on forming a government he says will represent all Egyptians. Morsi moved into his new office in the presidential palace in Cairo on Monday while his supporters kept up their sit-in protest at Tahrir Square to pressure the ruling generals of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to hand over full powers to him, AFP reported.
SCAF took power in February 2011 after the Egyptians launched a revolution against the pro-Israeli regime in January, which eventually brought an end to the 30-year dictatorship of former President Hosni Mubarak. Morsi picked up 13.2 million votes out of just over 26 million, giving him 51.7 percent of the vote. Tens of thousands of Egyptians gathered in Cairo and across the country to celebrate Morsi's victory, chanting slogans like "God is greatest" and "Down with military rule."

Egyptians voted on Wednesday for the second and final day of the referendum on the country\'s new constitution. The first day of the vote was marred by deadly violence that left eleven dead after anti-coup protesters clashed with police forces in a number of governorates.
Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement headed to the Ithadiya presidential palace to voice their refusal of the voting process that they label as illegitimate coming after the military overthrow of elected president Mohamed Morsi from power. The protests turned violent after clashes erupted at a train station and near the presidential palace in Cairo before spreading to other areas.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has just arrived in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, for a two-day official visit.
The Iranian chief executive, who is in Lebanon at an official invitation by his Lebanese counterpart Michel Sleiman, was warmly welcomed by a number of prominent Lebanese officials at Beirut International Airport on Wednesday morning.
A large crowd of Lebanese people were cheering President Ahmadinejad and waving Iran's flags on his route to the Lebanese Presidential palace.
He is scheduled to address international reporters in a press conference in the Lebanese capital.
The Iranian chief executive will then meet with Iranian and Lebanese businessmen.
Later the Iranian president will head to southern Beirut to visit the area where Israeli bombs destroyed the location during 2006 war against the state.
Many analysts believe that President Ahmadinejad's trip to Lebanon is aimed at consolidating resistance's position against Israel.
Earlier, President Sleiman had asked the Islamic Republic to equip the country's army and supply the state with defense industry.
The Iranian president is so popular among the Lebanese nation and is seen as the sympbol of resistance against Israel as he has been outspoken, criticizing Israel's atrocities against Lebanese and Palestinians.
Iran offered unconditional support to Lebanon after Israel's war on Lebanon in summer 2006, when Tel Aviv destroyed the country's main infrastructure, electricity and water systems.
Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah hailed Iran's big role in rebuilding Lebanon following the Israeli war.
