Bahrain\'s regime forces crack down on protesters who are mourning for a 17-year-old youth killed by government troops a day earlier.
The protesters have held a funeral for Ali Khalil al-Sabbagh in the village of Bani Jamrah, west of the capital Manama. Sabbagh was shot dead by regime forces there on Tuesday. He\'s the latest victim of the ongoing crackdown by the Al Khalifah regime on dissent. Police, however, say he died after a bomb he was holding in his hands, went off. They also claim that he was wanted for criminal offences. Bahrain has been the scene of pro-democracy rallies for more than two years now. The Al Khalifah is responding with heavy-handed tactics which have led to scores of deaths and thousands of detentions.

Germany chancellor has called the U-S president to demand immediate clarification on reports that the U-S spied on her.
The German government spokesman says Angela Merkel had made clear to Barack Obama that if the information proves to be true, it would be completely unacceptable and represents a grave breach of trust. This, after Germany said it had received info that the U-S is spying on Merkel\'s cell phone communications. But the White House says Obama has assured Merkel that her phone is not being monitored. The U-S spying scandal is taking center stage after fugitive American whistle-blower Edward Snowden revealed the details of the program. Washington\'s espionage scandal has already caused outrage among Italian, French, Mexican and Brazilian officials.

Political tension raging on in Bangladesh with four more deaths reported in the latest clashes between opposition and ruling party activists.
The new killings raise the overall death toll to 15 since Friday. Schools and businesses remain shut across the country on the second day of the nationwide strike called by the opposition. Phone talks between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Saturday failed to halt the three-day strike and defuse the crisis. The opposition wants Hasina to give up power and set up a caretaker administration to oversee elections in January 20-14.

Peugeot-Citroen was the worst affected French company when the U-S and its allies imposed sanctions against Iran in 2012. Until then, the car-maker had been sending spare parts to its former partner Iran-Khodro. When it stopped doing so, it entered a period of deep crisis which led to thousands of job cuts in the company. In a country facing record high unemployment, this was a shock.
With the new deal between Iran and five permanent members of the U-N Security Council plus Germany, the sanctions on Tehran are eased, bringing a mix of respite and caution to labor unions.
Peugeot Citroen\'s share prices rose just a day after the ease on sanctions was announced.
Before the sanctions, the company was the biggest player on Iranian roads.
Peugeot has recently announced it is hiring a new chairman in 2014.
But labor unions are skeptical if Carlos Tavares can really turn around the car-maker\'s fortunes.
In the coming days, Tehran will host the first international car makers\' conference on Iranian auto-industry. And that is where French car brands will find out, if they will dominate Iranian roads as they once did.

Several leading insurers say the easing of insurance sanctions on some Iranian oil exports is likely to take months to come into effect.
The companies claim this is due to complex law and regulations in the United States and the European Union. They also say a formal change in E-U, U-K and U-S laws is needed to release insurers from existing prohibitions. A recent nuclear deal on Iran\'s nuclear energy program in Geneva allows an easing of a ban on European ship insurance companies that deal with Iran. The sanctions relief could allow Iran to transport its oil more easily to its Asian customers.

US President Barack Obama has told Congress his country should not impose new sanctions on Iran if it is serious in negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear energy program. Obama-- who has been speaking to reporters in his last press briefing of the year-- has refreshed his warnings that any new sanctions against Iran could derail the current diplomatic efforts to resolve the differences with Iran.
Obama says he understands why some US lawmakers want to \\\"look tough\\\" on Iran. But he says the US must give diplomacy a chance. Obama has further repeated threats that the US keeps all options on the table regarding Iran if it fails to comply to the terms of the nuclear deal that Tehran signed with the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany last month.

A militia group has claimed responsibility for the recent attacks on the camp of anti-Iran Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization in Iraq.
The group, calling itself al-Mukhtar Army, says it fired 20 rockets and mortar rounds on the camp. It also says that they\\\'ve frequently asked the Iraqi government to expel M-K-O from the country, but they are still there. On Thursday, three members of the terrorist organization were killed and dozens more injured at the so-called Camp Liberty near Baghdad airport. M-K-O members were moved to the camp from their previous location in Iraq. The group is responsible for numerous acts of terror against Iranian civilians and officials. The organization aided Iraq\\\'s former dictator Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran in the eighties.

In Japan, opposition is mounting against a decision to relocate the US military base on Okinawa. Opponents are now threatening with lawsuits and protests, demanding that the base be completely moved off the island.
The head of Nago group, which opposes the base, said that the organization would file a lawsuit challenging the governor\\\'s decision. Okinawa officials have approved the relocation of a controversial US military base on the southern island. About half of all US military personnel in Japan are stationed there. The stagnation of the relocation issue has been a thorn in the side of relations between Tokyo and Washington since 1996 when the two governments agreed on the original plan to move the base.

Egyptians have held a mass funeral for victims of the violence that broke out on the third anniversary of Egypt\'s 2011 revolution.
The situation remains tense across the country, a day after deadly clashes pitting supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi against the security forces and rival demonstrators. The Health Ministry says nearly fifty people died in the clashes during demonstrations marking the anniversary of Egypt\'s 2011 revolution. Most of the victims are believed to be supporters of Morsi. Amnesty International has issued a report saying that Egypt has seen violence on an unprecedented scale since Morsi\'s ouster in a military coup in July. Meanwhile, Egypt\'s interim government announced on Sunday that it had decided to hold the presidential election before the parliamentary polls. The move is likely to intensify speculation over whether army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will be a candidate in the presidential election.
