FRIENDS - LET THIS not come as a surprise to you. This is the reality of the world where, according to U.N. estimates, one billion people in the world daily suffer from hunger and malnutrition, and their situation is not getting any better. About 24000 people die every day from hunger or hunger related causes. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five. -- HOW YOU CAN HELP - Don't waste natural resources. Be thankful to God for His gifts and blessings. Be mindful of your responsibility toward other human beings. Think about what the Prophet -pbuh- would do. Have mercy and compassion toward all humankind. Next time you spend money on those unnecessary luxuries of your life think for a moment about the plight of the poor and oppressed around the world. Be aware of the materialistic forces and the contradictions of the dominant economic systems that are at the roots of global inequality. Don't become a part of this system. Don't become a slave of consumerism and endless materialistic rat-race -- Among other things join a local organization that is working against structural and subtle forms of oppression like hunger, poverty, illiteracy, domestic violence, anorexia and bulimia and their connection to media, mass entertainment, perfect body images, etc. If there isn't any - start one today! -- You can also look into doing online activism. Check out moveon.org's work for ideas. Some online organizations also invite web surfers to click on their sites regularly. They say every click earns them revenue to support their causes. The Hunger Site is an example. Some may also invite you to buy their T-shirts and other souvenirs. I guess you can buy these items if you think they can help spread the word and encourage people to join a good cause. Otherwise in general more shopping and more consumption cannot be a solution to human suffering. And its not a good idea to sell consumers to products through clicks or ads. That feeds into the same loop of consumerism. My suggestion - Adopt Simplicity and Donate directly! And encourage others to do the same! - Lastly remember the advice IMAM ALI gave in his LAST WILL ---- MY ADVICE to you is to be conscious of Allah and steadfast in your religion. Do not yearn for the world and do not be seduced by it. Do not resent anything you have missed in it. Proclaim the truth - work for the next world. Oppose the oppressor and support the oppressed.---- Become a friend and supporter of the oppressed people and an enemy of the oppressors and all forms of oppression!

Friends, let this not come as a surprise to you. This is the reality we are living in where it is âestimated that one billion people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition. Thatâs roughly 100 times as many as those who actually die from these causes each year. About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger related causes⊠Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five.â
--HOW YOU CAN HELP --
Donât waste natural resources. Be thankful to God for His gifts and blessings. Be mindful of your responsibility toward other human beings. Think about what the Prophet (saws) would do. Have mercy and compassion toward all humankind. Next time you spend money on those unnecessary luxuries of your life, think for a moment about the plight of the poor and oppressed around the world. Be aware of the materialistic forces and the contradictions of the dominant economic systems that are at the roots of global inequality. Donât become a part of this system. Donât become a slave of consumerism and endless materialistic competition.
Understand that it is not enough to just keep yourself from engaging in consumerism. It's not always easy to protect yourself and your family against the multi-billion dollar industry of marketing. Join forces with other like-minded people. Strengthen your communities that can serve as a buffer against corporations. Engage in collective action. Transform people's consciousness and hyper-consumeristic lifestyles. Among other things, join a local organization that is working against subtle forms of oppression, like hunger, poverty, illiteracy, domestic violence, anorexia and bulimia, perfect body images, and endless materialistic competition. If there isnât any, start one today!

But, in general, more shopping and more consumption cannot be a solution to human suffering. Selling consumers to products through clicks or ads is exactly what we need to shun. Because that feeds into the same loop of consumerism. My suggestion: Donate directly! And, encourage others to do the same!

Not many people will go through all the leaked documents. They will mostly hear what the mainstream media and political groups choose to focus on. In this clip Ray McGovern argues that The New York Times ignores intelligence that there is no evidence of Iran nuclear weapons program. --- One should not discount the possibility of a good number of forged and fragmented documents intentionally released to the Wikileaks by government apparatuses. That reason alone is enough to suggest that the Wikileaks cannot be a measure of truth per se, but it is the perspective with which one judges its content, and since there can be multiple perspectives, the truth of these leaks will remain contested. Further, the accuracy of some documents in the leaks should not be taken as a verification of the accuracy of the rest of the documents. On the question of verification, the Wikileaks website itself suggests that, the "simplest and most effective countermeasure is a worldwide community of informed users and editors who can scrutinize and discuss leaked documents.â
Lastly, in any review of these leaks, one should also interrogate the sources used and the background and politics of the people working for the Wikileaks. Because these considerations have a huge impact on what the Wikileaks editors choose to release (and what they do not), their timing, and their targets. Perhaps, their politics and agenda will become clearer with the release of more leaked documents.

I do not take wikileaks as a source for new information, rather, only to confirm what we long suspected based on a critically informed perspective. The leaked cables are insightful not for what they tell us at face value but what we can extract out of them after a careful scrutiny. Otherwise, these fragments of documents, even in instances where they are authentic, can be very misleading. In this clip, Jeremy Scahill engages in this critical exercise. He also wrote a piece for The Nation on this topic on Dec 1. ------- One should not discount the possibility of a good number of forged and fragmented documents intentionally released to the Wikileaks by government apparatuses. 1 fresh lime juiced
2 tbsp white flour
1/2 cup water
salt to taste
fresh ginger Julianned for garnishing
1/4 cup canola oil (1/2 cup was a bit too much)
Method:
In a pot add the oil and fry the sliced onions till golden brown and set aside, next in the same oil add ginger and garlic, making sure you don\\\'t burn it, than add 1 tbsp of the Shan nihary masala and fry it in the oil, once it has released the flavors add the chicken and turn it so it is completely mixed with the spices, cover till the chicken is cooked. In the mean time mix the water with the flour and this will be our thickening agent for the curry, keep it aside. At this time prepare the cucumber pickle. While you are making the pickle keep an eye on the chicken turning it occasionally. Make sure not to over cook the chicken as doing this will make the chicken really tough and dry. Add the flour and water mixture in the curry and stir till it thickens up a bit. If you want more gravy add more water to it, if you want the nihary thick than don\\\'t add the extra water. Season it with salt per your taste and some fresh lime juice, do a taste test and make sure the taste is how you like it, lastly sprinkle the fried onions, fresh cilantro and ginger..

A wonderfully tasty combination of rice, noodles, veggies and chicken, which is a little sweet and a little spicey.
Ing:
2 cups cooked rice (precooked with soy sauce)
1 to 2 cups boiled rice noodles
1 to 2 cups chicken (cut according to your preference)
For the Veggies
2 tbsp of oil for frying the veggies
1/4 cup fresh ginger julienned
1/2 cup spring onions chopped
1 cup red bell pepper
1 cup yellow bell pepper
1 cup green bell pepper
1 cup cabbage (sliced thinly)
1 cup carrots (shredded)
2 cups bean sprouts
1 tbsp ginger and garlic
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 tsp of cayenne (optional)
salt to taste
2 to 3 whole dried red pepper
1 tsp sesame oil
4 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tsp sambal or hot sauce
8 to 10 pieces of garlic (cut in thin slices)
1/4 cup of oil
2 to 3 red peppers
1 tbsp chong onions
Method:
Prepare your rice and keep it aside, next prepare your pasta and keep it aside, then clean your chicken, cut it and set it aside. Prepare all the veggies and the ginger and the garlic, and keep all this aside. In a wok add the oil and let it get nice and hot then add the chicken fry for about 30 seconds and add the soy sauce, salt, red crushed pepper, ginger and garlic, black pepper and stir all this really well and let it cook for about 5 min next add the sambal and the ketchup, so you have a little gravy, make sure and do a taste test so it\'s tasty. Keep this aside in a different place and we will reuse the wok. In the same wok add the oil, once hot, add ginger, spring onions, all the 3 bell peppers, cabbage, and carrots as well as the black pepper, salt, and pinch of cayenne. Stir fry on high for about a minute and add the bean sprouts and sesame oil stir fry for another 30 seconds then add the rice noodles and mix all the ingredients together as well as another 2 tbsp of soy sauce. Keep aside if you want to layer the rice if not you can add the rice inside and mix it all up...
Make sure and fry the fresh garlic in a 1/4 cup of oil, 1 tbsp chopped spring onions is optional, as well as the dried peppers, this oil can be put on the top of the dish or keep aside and leave on the side. For the layers, in a big plate or bowl add the rice, then add the veggie and pasta layer on top of the rice, now add the layer of the chicken and the gravy and this will be your third layer. Lastly drizzle some of the garlic oil on top and if you want to serve the extra on the side then reserve some otherwise add it all to the top of dish. This dish can also be garnished with more spring onions. To serve you can also make a dressing that consists of half and half so if you are mixing 4 tbsp ketchup add 4 tbsp of mayonnaise, as well as a hot sauce or sambal or even tabasco. Mix all this well and either serve it on the side or you can drizzle it on top of the dish!
Enjoy!

Bake for 12 to 15 min, monitor the cakes starting at 10 min the sides should be cooked and the middle should be soft and it should be a little concave in the center. 1 cup white flour
season the flour with
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
eggs
season eggs with
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp lemon pepper
11/2 cups panko bread crumbs
season the panko bread crumbs with 1 tbsp dried parsley flakes
Method:
Start of by preparing your chicken and marinating it. Get all your other ingredients and season that well too, next take a chicken strip dip it in flour first, then egg, then lastly dip it in panko bread crumbs and make sure it\'s coated well, prepare all of them and if you are baking them put them on a greased pan and stick them in the oven, if you are going to fry them heat your oil, test your oil if it sizzles then add the chicken strips in one by one on med heat, it should take 5 to 7 minutes for the chicken to cook through!
Bake the chicken for about 25 to 30 minutes making sure it is cooked through! I served them with homemade fries!
Enjoy!

One of the reasons why many do not participate in the Islamic projects is because they are afraid of failure. Some others do not get involved because they are not sure of the impact of their efforts. Lastly, there is a group of believers who expect instant gratification and overnight results of their efforts; when they don\'t see that happening, they drop out and stop contributing their efforts to strengthen Islamic projects. What exactly should our mindset be when we get involved or start any Islamic project? Ayatollah Misbah Yazdi extracts a lesson from Karbala and explains this phenomenon.
