The thirty five years of his Imamate coincided with the caliphates of Mansur, Hadi, Mahdi, and Harun al-Rashid. Imam al-Kadhim (A) was repeatedly imprisoned by al-Mahdi and Harun al-Rashid due to the Imam\\\'s activities, until he finally attained martyrdom at the hands of the tyrannical government.
