What is something that is commonly stated by American officials vis-à-vis, the Islamic Republic of Iran? Yet despite these statements of American officials regarding how long the Islamic Republic of Iran will last, what does the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, say about the current condition of the Islamic Republic? And as far as numbers are concerned, how many people come out against the Islamic System, as compared to how many people come out in support of the Islamic System in Iran? Is it not suspicious, that sporadic and limited rioting occurred almost immediately after the death of Ms. Mahsa Amini? And what are the overall categories of rioters that were seen on the streets and behind the scenes of the recent rioting in the Islamic Republic of Iran? Why did some youth come out onto the streets and join the riots? Why did some Iranian celebrities support, and in some cases, incite the rioters? Robert Fisk is Britain's most highly decorated foreign correspondent. He has received the British International Journalist of the Year award seven times, most recently in 1995 and 1996. His specialty is the Middle East, where he has spent the last twenty-three years. Currently the Beirut correspondent for the London Independent, Fisk has covered the Iranian revolution, the Iran-Iraq war, the Persian Gulf war, and the conflict in Algeria. He is the author of Pity the Nation: Lebanon at War (Atheneum, 1990), and his reporting from Lebanon has brought him international attention. He was the one who broke the story about the Israeli shelling of the U.N. compound in Qana, Lebanon, in 1996. Fisk visited Madison, Wisconsin, in April to give two lectures on the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. He brought with him film footage of the Qana shelling, as well as footage of an Israeli bombing of a Lebanese ambulance carrying fourteen people. He showed a film he made about Palestinians who had lost their homes when Israel became a state. He also showed interviews with Jews who lost family members in Nazi concentration camps, and he went to Auschwitz to show where the Holocaust took place. In one of his lectures, he made a special point of taking on those who deny the truth of the Holocaust. Robert Fisk, a world renowned Middle East correspondent for London's Independent, currently resides in Beirut. Mr. Fisk received a Ph.D in Political Science from Trinity College, Dublin in 1985 and an Honorary Doctorate of Literature and Journalism from the University of Lancaster, England. He was The Times Belfast correspondent from 1971 to 1975, and its Middle East correspondent from 1976 to 1987. Fisk has covered the recent conflict in Northern Ireland, Israeli invasions of Lebanon, the Iranian Revolution, the Iran-Iraq war, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the Gulf War, wars in Bosnia and Algeria, NATO war with Yugoslavia, and the Palestinian uprisings. Fisk was the winner of the Amnesty International UK Press Awards in 1998 for his reports from Algeria and in 2000 for his articles on NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. He was awarded the John Hopkins SIAS-CIBA prize for international journalism. Fisk is theauthor of three books: The Point of No Return: The Strike which Broke the British in Ulster (1975), In Time of War: Ireland, Ulster, and the Price of Neutrality (1982, 1983), and Pity the Nation: Lebanon at War (1990, 1992). Most recently Fisk contributed a chapter to Iraq Under Siege: the Deadly Impact of Sanctions and War (2000).

There children on the scene who all saw it al infold and had disturbing reaction. Child - No I'm not scared of nothing. Reporter- when you get older are you going to stay away from these guns Child - No Reporter - No What are you going to do when you get older Child - I'm gonna have me a gun Anchor - That is very scary indeed. So far no suspects in the shootings." At first, a viewer might think the children were hardened soon to be street criminals. But someone at Chicago's WBBM leaked the entire interview to journalism watchdog groups Again we apologize for what you see but listen to what the reporter and the child actually said. "Reporter - when you get older you gonna stay away fromall these guns Child - No Reporter - No Child - No Reporter - What are you going to do when you get older? Child - I'm gonna have me a gun Reporter - You are ( child nods) Why do you want to do that? Child - I'm gonna be the police Reporter - OK then I guess you can have one" The exchange was sent all over the internet as bloggers and media groups blasted the TV Station for editing the story in a way that made the community look more violent. The US Civil rights group the NAACP wants action taken against the reporter and the editor. In American communities of color, civic groups have long complained about how they are portrayed on television and in newspapers. While many now say this is proof positive of a pervasive and long standing trend in American media, others who watch the industry say its is and isolated incident. Journalism Scholar and author Al Tompkins spoke with WBBM's New Director. He tells Press TV the station has admitted they made a gross mistake and that personnel responsible were disciplined. WBBM would not return phone calls to Press TV but issued an apology that said in part “We accept responsibility for the mistakes that were made, both in the reporting and editing of the story. The video of the child should not have aired. ….we have followed up with our employees to make sure that we all have learned from the mistakes that were made.

The President and I by Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich, 27 September 2010 I was pleasantly surprised when my request for an interview with Mr. Ahmadinejad, Iran's president was accepted. President Ahmadinejad has never shied away from being heard, but these interviews had been exclusive to prominent mainstream media personalities such as Larry King and Charlie Rose. However, it was the mainstream media's projection of Mr. Ahmadinejad that always remained questionable. On September 21, 2010, on the occasion of President Ahmadinejad's participation at the UN General Assembly, I was given the opportunity to conduct a candid interview with Mr. Ahmadinejad. I had overlooked the fact that such a meeting would be conducted in the presence of the secret service and body guards. No sooner had this reality hit home than Mr. Ahmadinejad's down to earth and easy attitude made me forget the presence of others in the room as we began the session. The time had come for me to verify or refute a research I had conducted as a Public Diplomacy graduate student while attending USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. At that time, I had examined the media's role in fashioning the image of Mr. Ahmadinejad. My research posited that though 'some great men make history, and history makes some men great', in an age dominated by the media-- internet, television, radio, and newspapers, the portrayal of Ahmadinejad is an artificial construct of the mainstream media. The image portrayed by the media had made him hero to some and a villain to others. Superstar or scapegoat, the Iranian President continues to dominate the news. With help and questions from university students and professors, I was eager to meet the real Ahmadinejad. Although a full hour had been granted for the interview (more accurately Q&A), regrettably, given the number of questions and the fact that the translation was not simultaneous, many of the questions were left unanswered. To my amazement, President Ahmadinejad granted me a second, follow-up interview (the transcript of which will be forwarded to participating universities). It is a rewarding experience to bring one's research to a practical conclusion. I firmly believe that Ahmadinejad is misrepresented by the corporate owned media. I leave it up to others to judge for themselves.

Occupy Calgary draws several hundred protesters Hundreds of people drummed, chanted and protested issues ranging from income disparity, capitalism and corporate politics to homelessness and fiat currency during “Occupy Calgary.” They began their protest at the foot of the locked glass doors of downtown Bankers Hall on Saturday afternoon. After about two hours, a crowd estimated to be between 300 and 500 people marched to Olympic Plaza, where several vowed to camp out over the weekend. Police said there were no arrests. The demonstrators had remained peaceful. Following similar protests in cities across Canada, the Occupy Wall Street movement is drawing thousands of people across the world to set up campsites in urban parks. It began in New York in September; when protesters began a sit-in at Zuccotti park to object to Wall Street’s role in the 2008 financial collapse. “There’s a high disparity between the rich and the poor in Calgary,” said SAIT journalism student Sarah Pynoo, 19. “We’re one of the richest cities in North America, but we have enormous homelessness problems. “And there are thousands of people living below the poverty line and that’s worrying.” The protest was rich with signs, flags and even a few raging grannies. One cardboard sign, painted in a dark silhouette of a mouse, featured a red mouth with the sign “corporate politics eats people.” Some protesters tried to draw awareness to investment fraud issues in Alberta. Others on 9/11 truth, a return to the gold standard, and mainstream media bias.

An Afghan refugee who was granted asylum in the UK has accepted substantial libel compensation at the high court in London after the daily express newspaper falsely accused him of being a member of the Taliban. Abdol Shazad who is 20 was recognized as a refugee by the Home Office last February after a four-year battle in which it was found that he was at fear of being persecuted by the Taliban. But a month later The express published a story saying that he was a member of the Taliban and posted an online version of the story under which hateful and abusive comments were posted causing great distress to Mr Shazad Journalists say this type of behavior is indicative of the lack of ethics of large segments of the right wing media.The Legal Counsel for the Express, Chloe Strong Said: \"The allegation in the articles was false and the defendant wishes to offer its sincerest apologies to the claimant for the damage, distress and embarrassment which the publication of the articles has caused him.\" The Daily Express has apologized and agreed to pay him substantial damages. The exact figure is undisclosed. But this type of behavior from elements of the right wing press is unlikely to stop as a result For Mr Shazid at least, there has been some kind of accountability for this unethical journalism.
