Lailatul Qadar Program and Martydom of Imam Ali (AS) Lectures by Hujjatul Islam Ustaad Mohsin Qaraati
He says, " In 1968, after years of studying at the Qom Seminary, I was contemplating my future and what course of action I wanted to pursue: Fiqh, Propagation (Tabligh), philosophy, tafsir and writing
My decision making was based on two factors:
1. What doest our society need most?
2. What is best suited to my personality and my character?
I realized that in every society, just as we need specialist and experts for various fields, we also need of experts that are capable of explaining the religious and ideological concepts of our religion in a very simple language, shortly thereafter, Allah (SWT) lit spark within me that became the basis of my decision for the future. I invited a few young men in my neighbourhood to get together in a Masjid and discuss religious matters. I made a deal with them that if they did not find our discussions beneficial; they could cancel these gathering at once. In short, these gathering went on for four years. This inspired me to continue on this path ever since.
Since 1979 and the victory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, I have been conducting programs, titled: lessons from Quran television (as well as radio)

Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Stoeker visited Iranian diplomat Jalal Sharafi in a hospital in Tehran on Tuesday and witnessed in person the traces of severe physical tortures on his body from head to toe. Sharafi - the second secretary of the Iranian embassy in Baghdad - was abducted in southeastern Baghdad on February 4 by a group connected to the Iraqi Defense Ministry which operates under the supervision of the U.S. forces in Iraq. He was released on April 3. In the hospital where Sharafi was also visited by Iraq ambassador to Tehran -Mohamed Majid Al-Sheikh- Stoeker observed holes drilled in Sharafis feet fractures of the nose and neck - some deep bruises on his back - and evidence of a tear to his ear drum and bleeding in the alimentary canal. Sharafi told the Red Cross representative that he had undergone horrific torturing during the first 15 days of his arrest. He was later transferred by an ambulance on a wheelchair to the Foreign Ministry building to attend a news conference with the domestic and foreign reporters and photographers. He told the reporters that during his captivity - he was repeatedly tortured and interrogated about Irans role in Iraq. He said his kidnappers - who spoke in English and Arabic - were in constant contact with their chiefs through walkie-talkies while abducted him in southeastern Baghdad. In the first four or five days an eight-person group regularly beat me up day and night with a wire. He said he was asked - why Iran helps Islamic groups in Iraq and what those groups are. Why Iran supports the Maliki government and the Iraqi people. Are there any secret relations between them... Why do you help the Sunni scholars - and asked some questions about the detained Iranian diplomats in Arbil -northern Iraq- the relations between Iraqi Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani and Iraqi president Jalal Talabani with Iran and in Iran which persons purchase uranium.... He added -At the last stage of my interrogation somebody who introduced himself as an American and a mediator between the U.S. embassy and the person in charge of my case came to me and since I could not understand English the words were translated into Arabic.Mr. Stoeker said his organization had been unable to find him in Iraq.

A nimble four-legged robot is so surefooted it can recover its balance even after being given a hefty kick. The machine which moves like a cross between a goat and a pantomime horse is being developed as a robotic pack mule for the US military. BigDog is described by its developers Boston Dynamics as -the most advanced quadruped robot on Earth-. Raibert says the latest version of BigDog can handle slopes of 35 degrees - a steeper gradient than one in two. The hydraulics are driven by a two-stroke single-cylinder petrol engine - and it can carry over 40 kg about 30 percent of its bodyweight. The robot can follow a simple path on its own or can be remotely controlled. The legs on the next version of BigDog-V3- will each have an additional powered joint and will be able to take on even steeper slopes and rougher terrain at higher speed - its makers say. Contributed by ZN.

The Gaza Strip has fallen eerily silent as day-to-day life grinds to a halt in the face of an Israeli fuel blockade that has forced the UN to halt its food shipments into the territory. Michael Bailey of Oxfam in Jerusalem tells The Real News Network that some 300,000 Gaza residents have drinking water at home for less than five hours per day - every four days - and the UN can no longer get supplies to the 700,000 refugees living in Gaza. SHAME ON ISRAEL for these henious crimes against the humanity. SHAME ON ISRAEL for blockade of the necessities of life on innocent people. MAY GOD's WRATH BE ON ZIONISTS and SUPPORTERS OF ZIONISTS. DEATH TO ISRAEL. DEATH TO AMERICA. United States of America must be ashamed of its blind support to Israel and Zionism. This Zionist state will be wiped off from the map of the world because innocent people pray to God for Israels Destruction. May GOD's wrath be on the AGGRESSORS - their SUPPORTERS and those who are watching all this and STAY QUIET.

Syrians stage mass anti-US rally
Mature
(BBC NEWS) -- Thousands of people have held a peaceful demonstration in Damascus against an alleged US raid on a village that Syria says killed eight people.
Riot police armed with batons and shields surrounded the US embassy in Damascus, which closed due to what it said were increased security concerns.
The US state department and the White House have refused to confirm, deny or comment on
The assault claimed the lives of eight civilians, including a father and his four sons.
They protestos said the act of aggression is a flagrant violation of international law and a form of systematic terrorism exercised by the American administration on the Arab world, Lebanese Al-Manar TV reported.
Damascus witnessed a huge public demonstration in protest to the US act of aggression which targeted the al-Sukkariah farm outside Abu Kamal.
The protestors, who came from student, women, civic societies, religious and trade union activists, voiced condemnation of the American crime which targeted peaceful building workers on a farm outside the town of Abu Kamal near the border with Iraq on Sunday.
The protestors called on the international community to put an end to reckless US arrogance, appealing to international organizations to condemn such acts of terrorism and take the needed procedures to put on trial the aggressors who show disregard for international laws, norms and charters.
The US Embassy in Damascus was closed Thursday because of security concerns related to the protest. The Syrian government has ordered the closure of a US school, expected within a week, and the immediate closing of the American cultural center linked to the embassy.
The US Embassy meanwhile warned Americans on Thursday to be vigilant. The announcement raises concerns about the safety of US citizens in Syria.
In Washington, State Department deputy spokesman Robert Wood said Wednesday that Syria had formally notified the US of the closure order for the cultural center, effective immediately, and the school by November 6.
Wood said Washington was considering how to respond and stressed the US expects the Syrian government to provide adequate security for the buildings housing the cultural center and the Damascus Community School.

The activists and legal observers participating in the demonstrations wanted to deliver a letter to Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey, saying outgoing President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should be taken accountable for treason, murder, bribery and other high crimes.
"This is not about getting them out of office, that's impeachment. This is about holding them accountable," said David Swanson, the founder of After Downing Street (ADS).
On the way to the department, the crowd, however, was stopped by a low-level press secretary who pledged he would hand the letter over to the attorney general, Press TV correspondent Jahan Hafez reported.
"We really need to have a medium with him (Michael Mukasey) and we need him to agree to look into the crimes of the Bush administration which are many," stressed Linda Letendre of the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance (NCNR).
As Justice Department officials passed the protesters, activists read off the names of those lost in the war.
The protesters then lay on the ground to symbolize those who killed in the so-called war on terror.
"If in fact your elected officials are not held the same standard that the regular citizens are, then you don't have the standard, you don't have the rule of law," one of the activists said.
"That's extremely dangerous for everybody," she warned.
"We are directly responsible for those and I would call them murders …Then you have another four million Iraqis who have been displaced from their homes and businesses and their children. There is cholera, there is no water, there is no electricity," another protester lamented, referring to the dire consequences the Iraqi nation has been suffering after the US-led invasion of the country in 2003.
"There is constant fear and it's hard to sit still, knowing that we have done this and that we are allowing it to continue," she added.
The anti-war community says that choosing a new commander-in-chief is not enough and it does not justify thousands of people who have died because of the policies of the Bush administration.
They say the real change comes about when George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are indicated over war crimes and crimes against humanity

Israel has pledged to fight Hamas to the death. Defence Minister Ehud Barack has said that the ongoing air strikes on Gaza are a war to the bitter end against Hamas militants. Four Israelis and 360 Palestinians have been killed since the attacks began on Saturday. Many in Israel are asking why now. Hamas, they say, has been firing Qassam rockets at them for eight years. Questions are now being asked about whether the war is linked to Israeli elections, due to be held in six weeks. The early poll was called after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert was charged with corruption

Swine flu tragedy sparks conspiracy talk
In a world only recently relieved of virulent epidemics such as avian flu, SARS and mad cow disease, the emergence of swine flu has sparked new fears and has fueled talk of a conspiracy.
The latest in the wave of pandemics broke out in Mexico where the reported "probable" death toll has reached 152, though the number of deaths confirmed by Health Ministry does not go further than 20.
Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova reported that there was a fall in the number of suspected flu deaths from six on Saturday to five on Sunday and to three on Monday meaning that the epidemic could be receding.
However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised its alert level from three to four -- which means that the virus is showing a sustained ability to pass from human to human with the potential to cause community-level outbreaks.
WHO Assistant Director General Keiji Fukuda said the virus had become too widespread to be contained by closing borders or imposing travel bans, urging that countries should now strive to alleviate the effects of the virus.
As large quantities of a promised swine flu vaccine is to be ready in no earlier than six months, the disease has sparked a reaction across South America, where doctors have been deployed to airports to check passengers suspected of carrying the lethal virus.
Asian and European countries also raised vigilance on Monday to prevent a potential spread of swine flu, which has already found its way to Spain, Canada, and the US, with suspected cases in at least five other countries.
The BBC reported tests were being carried out on individuals or groups in New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Brazil, Britain and Israel displaying indispositions following travel to Mexico.
The Philippines and Thailand have temporarily banned pork imports from countries with confirmed and suspected flu casualties while their airports -- along with those of Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea and Indonesia -- resorted to thermal scanners last used to detect cases of the SARS virus.
China also rushed Tuesday to return or destroy pork shipments from Mexico and three US states. Stock markets are cautious as a result.
Falling short of elaboration, Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said on Tuesday that the deadly swine flu virus could have been genetically engineered. She had earlier accused Western governments of making and spreading viruses in developing countries to boost pharmaceutical companies' profits.
Since 2006, Indonesia has refused to share all of its bird flu virus samples with WHO researchers, citing fears that the system is being abused by rich countries to produce profitable vaccines, which impoverished nations have to buy.
The fact that the new virus causing an avian-human-swine flu first occurred in Mexico -- where pigs and birds are rarely raised together -- has also raised suspicion that the rare combination of more than two different flu viruses could have been genetically-engineered as a form of bio-weaponry.

Middle East in WWI Pt 20 Greco Turkish War Greco-Turkish War. The Allies, exhausted from four years of total war, readily accept Greece's offer to suppress the Turkish nationalist movement. On May 15, 1919, a Greek Army lands on the western coast of Turkey, with an Italian force also landing farther south. By July, Greek forces have captured a large portion of western Turkey, encountering little opposition.
Having disposed of the Armenian threat in the east, Turkish forces turn toward the Greek army in the west. In August 1922, the Turks launch a counter-offensive and drive the Greeks back toward Izmir (Smyrna) on the southwest coast of Turkey. In line with foreign media attempts to disrupt post-election stability in Iran, CNN has broadcast a false report which contradicts footage obtained by Press TV.
CNN broadcast an interview with a so-called anonymous witness of Wednesday's protest in Tehran's Baharestan Square, with the aim of depicting Iranian security forces as villains.
Footage obtained by Press TV reporters display some 200 protesters 'illegally' gathering in front of Iran's parliament and at a nearby subway station on Wednesday, to protest the result of the June 12th election.
The CNN's report, however, contains a call from an alleged female witness in Tehran who supposedly describes the situation as the 'massacre' of protesters by the police in Baharestan Square.
The following is an excerpt from CNN newscaster's conversation with the alleged witness:
CNN: You tell us what you saw today when you tried to go to Baharestan Square?
Witness: Police stopped everyone at Sa'di. They emptied the buses that were taking people there and let the private cars go on.
All of a sudden 500 people with clubs and woods came out of Hedayat Mosque and poured into the streets. They started beating everyone and throwing them off Sa'di Bridge. This was a massacre.
CNN: We are not only getting this report from you. We got a report from another source in Tehran describing the situation today being terrible, saying people were being shot like animals; they beat people like animals. Are you safe right now?
Witness: Yes, exactly, exactly. This is what was happening. They beat people so bad.
However, Press TV, which is based in Tehran and was present at the scene, did not find even traces of the false and unfounded report.
It remains unclear, whether CNN -- which has resorted to 'unreliable' sources like social network websites in its coverage of Iran -- was duped by the 'anonymous' caller or was simply faking the phone call in line with the Western agenda of destabilizing Iran.
Iranian officials have condemned foreign media outlets including Britain's state-run BBC over dramatizing the situation in the country by provoking the post-election violence in Iran.
Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi on Sunday pinned the blame for the recent post-election turmoil across the country on US and British media outlets.
Post-election unrests were sparked after the Interior Ministry declared Ahmadinejad as the president of the country for yet another four-year term by almost two-thirds of the vote.
People have staged rallies across the country to protest the results of the election. Some of the demonstrations have turned violent.

Amid world condemnation over the murder of a pregnant Egyptian woman in a Dresden courtroom, the German government says it should not be held responsible for the incident.
More than a week after the brutal murder of Marwa al-Sherbini sent shockwaves around the world, Iranian government advisor Zahra Sajjadi accused the German government of orchestrating the incident.
Sajjadi, in a recent interview with Fars News Agency, called for the formation of an international fact-finding committee to find the real reason behind the German court's failure to ensure Marwa's safety.
German government spokesman Thomas Steg rejected the accusation on Thursday, saying the claim was "absurd".
Christian Avenarius, a spokesman with Dresden prosecutor's office, has also argued that there was "absolutely no evidence" that el-Sherbini would have been in danger in the courtroom.
Marwa, who was about four months pregnant, was suing her neighbor for insulting her and calling her a terrorist for wearing an Islamic head scarf, when the defendant approached the witness stand and stabbed her 18 times in front of her 3-year-old son.
Her husband, who had attempted to shield his wife, was shot by security guards who had confused him with the assailant.
While the incident has shaken the Muslim world to its core, the German state and media have ever since been in a state of denial.
The Tehran government has called for legal action against the German court officials who stood by and watched Marwa get stabbed to death.
Iranian Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Shahroudi said Tuesday that the German judicial authorities who were present at the scene should be prosecuted for "sheer inaction".
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, meanwhile, has charged Germany with double standards on human rights and has asked the UN Security Council to take appropriate action over the incident.
