The key is to set cacheAsBitmap on both movieclips, your gradient mask and your image to be masked with gradient. You could also set everything dynamically, and add movement or animation to your movieclip and force the gradient reflection to move along with it.

This is simply an illusion and really can be done very easily with CSS and a 1px wide image! In this clip he talks about the historical background and the so-called Arab Slave trade. Mamdani argues that there was never an Arab invasion into Darfur or Arab led slave trade in this region. Actually the local powers ARABIZED themselves because being Arab was considered as civilized and these powers could also claim legitimacy by declaring themselves to be descendants of the Prophet and other important figures in the Holy Land.
