A new investigation indicates that immigration officials in Thailand have sold hundreds of Rohingya Muslims to human traffickers. The report says Myanmar\'s Rohingyas who fled oppression in their home country, have been secretly transported across southern Thailand. They were held hostage for ransom in a series of heavily-guarded camps near Thailand\'s border with Malaysia. Detainees who couldn\'t pay ransom have been sold to some shipping companies and farms. Some survivors who were interviewed by reporters said a number of detainees were killed by traffickers or died from dehydration or diseases. Thailand\'s second-highest-ranking policeman has also admitted that Thai officials might have profited from the smuggling because that meant removing the refugees from detention centers in Thailand.

US: "Immigrants for sale" shows how private prisons are thriving on illegal-immigration. Instead of sending illegal aliens home, they are kept in prison and have become the source of $5 billion per year paid from tax revenue to the privately run prisons. 03 2010 - As you may all know by now that the Federal Court ruling has condemned the
efforts of Conservative Immigration Minister Jason Kenney and his Communications
Director, Alykhan Velshi, to deny British MP George Galloway entry to Canada. In a
judgment released Monday (Sept. 27), Justice Richard Mosley found that Kenney’s and
Velshi’s efforts to keep Mr. Galloway out of the country were motivated by
disagreement with Mr. Galloway’s politics, rather than by national security
concerns. So now George Galloway returned to Canada to deliver in person the message
he was forced to deliver by Internet connection in March 2009.

The Swedish city of Malmo has been hit by a series of shooting attacks which has left one person dead and several injured.
But police do not have many clues or even a photofit of the suspect they are supposed to be hunting. The only thing they do know is that the attacks appear to be racially motivated.
Al Jazeera's Barnaby Phillips travelled to Malmo to find out what impact the shootings are having on the community there.
