Sayyed Hassan Speech - August 7, 2020 - Beirut Explosion (English Voiceover)

🔴Important Points of Syed Hassan Nasrallah Speech
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
I will not be talking about any of those topics today, but only about the recent disaster that happened
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
We stand before an incident that left a huge impact on the humanitarian scale as well as a huge economic effect since this port was the economic lifeline of Lebanon.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
I send condolences to the families of the martyrs. I ask Allah to grant their families patience and tranquility. I pray the injured are healed soon and that everyone is granted patience to endure those difficult times.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
What is notable is that people from all sects were affected by this incident. Beirut is a city of all sects and religions. Millions were harmed by this incident as more than half of Lebanon\\\\\\\'s population resides in Beirut.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
This is proof of the deep humanitarian, nationalistic, and moral values that our people have, from all sects and regions in the country.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
People were quick to rush to donate blood, volunteer in cleaning the streets, saving those under the rubble, offer their homes for the ones who lost theirs... everyone was compassionate and empathetic towards each other.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Hezbollah reassures its readiness to help in every way needed and to help in any field we are needed in..
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Several countries have sent aid and sent delegations to Lebanon, most notably the French president\\\\\\\'s visit. We see every visit and any aid from any nation to Lebanon as positive and prefer to remain optimistic in our stance and look at the bright side.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The first 2 scenes were positive, but the 3rd isn\\\\\\\'t so much so. In every crisis, people put their differences aside and cooperate to rise after the disaster. Political statements usually take a couple of days, but this is not what happened here.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
From the first hour after the explosion, leaders of political parties and several media outlets were quick to share their narrative. The fire in the port was still raging and people still hadn\\\\\\\'t known what happened at the time...
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The first narration to be shared was that what caused the explosion was a warehouse containing weapons for Hezbollah. Why? To tell the people of Beirut and Lebanon that the one who killed you, hurt you, terrified your children...is Hezbollah.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
They did not even wait to be sure whether this was an accident or a planned attack. We were forced to stand in the position of accusations on top of grieving the incident that took place.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
I firmly and assertively deny that Hezbollah has a single missile, rifle, bullet or anything at the port.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
There was another narrative that Hezbollah was responsible over the Beirut port. This is not true. Some would ask, does that mean that Hezbollah knows more about the Haifa port than the Beirut port? Yes.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The results of the investigations will reveal the truth. I ask the Lebanese people to hold accountable every media channel pushing for propaganda. Where are they taking the country with those claims they are making? What are they trying to do?
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The results of the investigations will reveal the truth. I ask the Lebanese people to hold accountable every media channel pushing for propaganda. Where are they taking the country with those claims they are making? What are they trying to do?
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Every party that had a problem with the president, the government, or even us, took advantage of the incident to attack. I will not address this because now is the time to heal our wounds and allow people to grieve.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The investigations should be very transparent and objective. The truth shall prevail. The investigations should not take the route of the typical Lebanese investigations where the criminal ends up protected..
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Every governmental institution needs to hold its responsibility in the investigations; the army, government, parliament, judiciary...
The ones responsible, whether they come from a single sect or several ones, should all be held accountable.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Is there any hope to establish a decent state in Lebanon with the current political class? I don\\\\\\\'t want to break anyone\\\\\\\'s morale, but no, there is no hope with this current class.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Even if this was a planned attack, even if it was a missile, drone, etc., the fact that the ammonium nitrate was stored at the port in this manner for 6 years means that a huge portion of the blame is on the government and political class.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
They are all to blame, ourselves included, since we were not able to do anything to remove those substances from the port. Everyone responsible needs to be held accountable and punished!
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
This catastrophe cannot and will never be forgotten. We\\\\\\\'ve lost so many lives.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Those who are taking advantage of this disaster for their own political gain against us, they should know that, as they\\\\\\\'ve always failed, they will fail again and again..
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
To everyone who panicked and the people of the Resistance who thought that this was a plot against us and that it would ignite any tension, nothing will happen inshallah.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The international aid is something Lebanon needs to take advantage of so that we may prevail from this disaster stronger and more victorious.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The Resistance, in its national and regional role and its strength and people\\\\\\\'s support, is stronger than to be defeated by the liars who have always created strife and pushed for a civil war thinking they would defeat the Resistance.

Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic New Year, but it is a period of mourning where Muslim Shia community commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain, the son of Hazrat Ali and grandson of Prophet Muhammad.Around 14 centuries ago, on the day of Ashura, Imam Hussain was brutally killed in the battle of Karbala.
But in Kashmir, major mourning processions have been banned by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir since the 1990s when there was a rise in insurgency in the state.Smaller processions are permitted in some Shia-pockets of the state, including in the districts of Baramulla, Kulgam, Leh and Kargil. However, in the state capital of Srinagar, processions are not allowed along the traditional route–that begins at Abi Guzar, passes through Maisuma, and ends at Zadibal–and the occasion is often marred by clashes between the mourners and the police.

Migrants in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) have been seen surging onto a railway line in the southern town of Gevgelia, desperate to board a train to the Serbian border.
Over a thousand people – some travelling with children – tried to squeeze onto the train in what appeared to be a case of survival of the fittest.
The group was made up mainly of Syrians, attempting to reach the network of Schengen countries, which offer the freedom to travel without having to show papers.
“Busiest irregular passage to EU”
FYROM has become a major transit route for people from the Middle East and Africa who cross over from Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria before heading West into more prosperous European countries.
According to a recent Amnesty International report, the route through the western Balkans has overtaken the Mediterranean route to become the “busiest irregular passage to the EU.”

An Egyptian court has sentenced 26 people to death for plotting attacks on ships in the Suez Canal.
The men, who were tried in their absence, were charged while in custody. The court accuses the defendents of founding and leading a terrorist cell, which wanted to disrupt the major shipping route. It also referred the verdict to the Grand Mufti of Cairo, who now has to validate the sentences. The recent spate of violence has rocked Egypt, after former president Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the military in July, and placed under arrest. The latest ruling comes as another court in the country sentenced over 2-hundred Morsi supporters to prison over a variety of charges on Tuesday.

A new red bus called Gani joins the buses at the garage. Gani was made with the memory chip from Wondie, a veteran bus who was Hana\'s close friend. Tayo is glad to have a new friend and shows Gani around the garage. Although Tayo wanted to teach the newcomer all that he knows, Gani turns out to be better at everything than Tayo. He even teaches Tayo a downtown route that he wasn\'t aware of. After they return to the garage, Tayo tells Hana that there\'s something weird about Gani. Hana just laughs it away and says that Gani is no different from any other young bus.

The US may have to fly military equipment out of Afghanistan since the land route through Pakistan has been blocked because of anti-US protests.
US officials say the possible air shipments would cost an additional one billion dollars. Sending the cargoes out through the normal routes via Pakistan would cost about five billion dollars. Dozens of Pakistani protesters continue to gather on the busy overland route more than a week after Islamabad promised Washington that it would take immediate action to quell the protests. Pakistanis are angry with US drone operations which have left scores of civilians dead and injured in their country.

It\'s been more than three weeks since vital supply route for the US led forces stationed in neighboring Afghanistan remains blocked in the North West of Pakistan. The supply route at Torkham border has been blocked by activists of religious and political parties to protest against the US assassination drone strikes in the tribal areas.
However, the move by the provincial government, which is run by Tehreek-e-Insaf or Justice Party, has put the central government in difficult position. That is why these top Pakistani civil and military authorities gathered in Islamabad to find a way out of the ongoing standoff. Despite efforts by the central government, the provincial administration has refused to allow trucks carrying supplies for the US forces in Afghanistan pass through the Torkham border.Pakistan is considered important for the US to ensure its forces\' smooth pull out of Afghanistan. The US has recently threatened to suspend billions of dollars in aid to Pakistan if supply routes are not reopened. In the face off continuing US drone attacks, Pakistan\'s civil and military leadership has promised to safeguard the country\'s national interests. However, they have not been able to come up with a clear strategy to pacify the growing public anger against the CIA\'s illegal and deadly drone campaign.

Anger continues to prevail in Pakistan over the U-S assassination drone campaign there. Pakistan\'s main opposition now urges the government to officially block the supply routes for US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief called it the best time to pressure Washington into putting an end to its deadly aerial attacks. He says the closure of routes could prove a serious disruption as US-led forces prepare for a planned withdrawal from Afghanistan next year. The statements came as protesters in northwestern Pakistan continued the blockade of NATO supplies to Afghanistan. The decision to halt the supplies was taken last week by a regional government controlled by Imran Khan\'s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Party. Pakistan is the main supply route for foreign forces in landlocked Afghanistan.

These are activists from Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf or Justice Party which is now governing the country\'s northwestern province bordering with Afghanistan. For several days, the provincial government has blocked land routes for trucks carrying war supplies for US-led foreign forces in Afghanistan.
The provincial government has avoided using police force to block the supply lines in order to prevent legal action because defense and foreign policies are the exclusive domains of the federal government.
Legally speaking the federal government in Islamabad can dismiss the provincial government in northwestern region for overstepping its authority to block the NATO supply line. But given the fact that the anti-US sentiment is rising alarmingly, the federal government is hard pressed to decide on a clear policy action that goes beyond routinely condemning U-S drone attacks.
The country\'s Interior Minister Chaudhar Nisar Khan says that it is time for Pakistan to choose between US economic assistance or self respect. The federal government is engaged in consultation process with major political parties to evolve consensus on how to bring an end to the US drone attacks that has effectively derailed the peace process with the pro-Taliban militants.

A new report has been released by the Russian media claiming Israel used a Turkish military base to attack Syria on July 5th.
According to the report published by Russia today, Israeli war planes left a military base inside Turkey and approached the Syrian city of Latakia from the sea. The report says Israelis used this route because they wanted to make sure they stayed out of Syrian air space, in order not to become a legitimate target for the Syrian army.
In a televised interview on Monday, the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu strongly denied claims that Turkey allowed Israel to use Turkish soil to attack Syria.

India is to settle its 1.53 billion dollars dues with Iran in Rupees. From now on, all the trade will only be done in Indian currency. Until February, 45 percent of the Indian oil import payments were made in Euros, with the money going through Turkish Halkbank. Since then Indian crude oil importers have held on to their payments. A Russian route to make payments in Ruble was explored however it did not work out. Finally the Rupee transactions are left as the only alternative.UCO Bank is the only Indian designated institute under the rupee-payment mechanism with Iran. It is backed by its tie-ups with five Iranian banks which worked on carrying out the process of settlements of dues in April last year.

Syrian government forces are going ahead with their mop-up operation in Qusayr after they regained full control of the strategic town. The troops were reportedly defusing on Wednesday explosive devices planted by the Takfiri militants fighting against the government in different parts of the town.
More than 200 pickup trucks carrying militants left the town and moved to a nearby village in the north of Qusayr. The government is trying to bring the town back to normal as soon as possible. Syrian military forces have dismantled the terrorist network of the foreign-backed militants in the strategic area, which borders Lebanon.
Qusayr has been an important center and supply route for the foreign-sponsored militants fighting against the Damascus government. The Syrian Army also reported that it has obtained documents confirming the role of Arab and non-Arab countries in the Syria crisis.
This episode of the Debate will take a look at the significance of retaking Qusayr.

[29 July 2012] Pakistan US to sign draft pack on NATO supply routes - English
Pakistan will not allow the transportation of weapons or dangerous materials, including arms and ammunition in any circumstances through its routes to the US-led forces fighting in Afghanistan, says the draft of the 16-clause memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed between Islamabad and Washington.
The draft which says the written accord has been drafted in accordance with the UN charter allows only the transportation of non-lethal cargo, including food, medicines, equipment and material for capacity building of the Afghan National Security Forces. These will be allowed to pass through the strategic routes which were recently reopened by Islamabad after a seven-month blockade.
