Israel seizes vessel, protesters say
Naval ships move in on a flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, reportedly killing twenty people, protest organizers and Arab media report.
The last we heard, Israeli soldiers landed on the top deck of the Turkish boat and opened fire," said Adam Shapiro, husband of one of the flotilla leaders. He said he spoke with his wife by telephone around 8:30 p.m. and she described watching the Israeli seizure from her boat.
"After that, we lost communication with all of the ships," Shapiro said. "She said her boat was being chased by Israeli ships and they were trying to outrun it."
According to one unconfirmed report, the other protest vessels had been intercepted and were being led to Israel.
Some of the injured reportedly have been evacuated to a hospital in Haifa.
Flotilla organizers, Arab leaders and Turkish diplomats have already condemned the reported attack. Flotilla organizers say they were carrying first-aid supplies and medical professionals in the event of casualties, but according to Shapiro, "we thought that the possibility that Israeli soldiers would shoot" was a remote one.
Flotilla organizers said they carried no weapons.
The six-vessel flotilla, packed with hundreds of international activists, food and other humanitarian supplies, left Cyprus on Sunday night and was attempting to break Israel's long-standing blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Israel had vowed to intercept the boats, by force if necessary, and tow them to the Israeli port of Ashdod, where passengers would be arrested or deported. Israel says the blockade of Gaza, which is controlled by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, is needed to combat terrorism.
A live video feed from the Turkish boat showed images of Israeli soldiers boarding the vessel and firing some sort of weapons, though it was unclear whether the weapons were live rounds or less-lethal devices, such as stun grenades. The feed was abruptly cut.

Pakistani Shias who make up nearly 20 percent of the country\'s 180 million population, has been the main target of sectarian violence.
The menace has assumed deadly proportions with the beginning of the year 2013. Quetta witnessed the deadliest bombings this year with two suicide blasts that claimed the lives of over 200 Shia Muslims in the city.
In another massacre, which shook the port city of Karachi, a powerful bomb with impact radius of over 700 meters exploded in a predominantly Shia neighborhood of Abbas Town.
The targeted killings still continue unabated across Pakistan particularly the port city of Karachi, the eastern city of Lahore, northern areas bordering China and northwestern Kurram agency.
The Human right watchdog and other right groups point fingers towards the inaction of the government, which they say is not doing enough, or in some cases nothing.
The Human Rights Watch in its last year\'s report says \"The Pakistani government should urgently act to protect the minority Shia Muslim community in Pakistan from sectarian attacks by Sunni militant groups. The government should hold accountable those responsible for ordering and participating in deadly attacks targeting Shia.\"
On this week\'s INFocus we talk to Shia Muslims in Karachi to bring this issue to the limelight.

A key trial suspended just minutes after opening. An Egyptian judge has suspended the trial of the country\'s first democratically-elected president, Moahmed Morsi.
The suspension reportedly came after Morsi and 14 other defendants began shouting that they didn\'t recognize the authority of the court. Mohamed Morsi, three of his aides and 11 Muslim Brotherhood members are standing trial for allegedly inciting violence which left 10 protesters dead in December. The Muslim Brotherhood has called the charges fabricated, urging its supporters to pour into the streets in protest. Security is currently tight in Egypt with some 20-thousand policemen deployed to the streets. Brotherhood\'s supporters are demonstrating in several cities and outside the venue of the trial. Reports say at least 20 pro-Morsi protesters have been arrested during clashes in the port city of Alexandria.

Turkey says it\'s seized a large quantity of chemicals on its border with Syria. Authorities say the chemicals could be transformed into weapons.
The Turkish army says a convoy of three vehicles attempted to smuggle the chemicals across the border. The army managed to arrest one of the passengers of the vehicles near the town of Reyhanli. The rest of the suspects fled in the direction of Syria. The army says a large amount of sulphur was part of the chemical haul. Our correspondent in Turkey says the army also seized a shipment of chemicals at the Iskenderun port in Hatay province.

These photos show the remaining pieces of the unmanned US surveillance drone and also show fighters celebrating the US loss of one of its spy drones. These picture were posted on twitter.
Another drone crashed on Saturday in Qaw, a village located 20 kilometers west of the port city of Bossasso in the northern Puntland region.
The United States claims to be targeting militants with its assassination drone attacks overseas, but reports indicate the airstrikes have mostly led to civilian casualties in Somalia and several other Muslim countries.
Anti drone activists say that Somalia does not need US interference, especially its drone programs. They say the unmanned aircraft has caused more harm than good. A security expert says that the UAVs have led to higher civilian deaths in Somalia since its inception.

Nearly a dozen people have been killed and many more injured in a fresh attack in Pakistan\'s port city of Karachi.
Officials say an explosive-laden car hit a police bus transporting over 50 personnel. All of the victims are policemen. No group has claimed responsibility for the early morning attack. Pakistan has been hit by a wave of bombings and shootings in recent months. And Karachi has been one of the major targets with insurgent groups often trying to create ethnic violence in the city. Just days ago, several people were killed after a group of gunmen threw grenades and opened fire at a religious gathering there.

Rouhani said Iran and Pakistan also believe that regional issues can be resolved through dialogue. He said Iran would reciprocate any goodwill gesture. Also in his remarks, Rouhani referred to Friday’s missile attacks on an Iranian tanker in the Red Sea near the Saudi port city of Jeddah. He said it would be an absolute mistake for a country to think that it can create instability in the region, but receives no response. For his part, the Pakistani premier said his trip to Tehran is aimed at facilitating talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
