Saudi attack on Yemen condemned in Toronto: Peace and justice loving Canadians have not been swayed by the nasty propaganda of the Saudi regime and its supporters in the west that their attack on Yemen is justified. Instead, hundreds of people braved strong winds to denounce the illegitimate Saudi regime for its equally illegitimate war on the poor people of Yemen. There were also demands to put the Saudi rulers on trial for war crimes.
Chanting slogans against the Banu Saud as well as their masters in Washington DC, the protesters demanded an immediate halt to attacks on the Yemeni people that have killed more than 2,600 civilians so far.
They also demanded that humanitarian aid be provided to the people of whom more than 120,000 (according to UN figures) have been displaced from their homes since the Saudis and their allies launched their war of aggression on March 26.
There were also repeated calls for putting Saudi rulers on trial for war crimes since Yemen has not attacked Saudi Arabia.
Further, it is not the people of Yemen that have attacked Saudi Arabia, but the illegitimate regime of the Najdi Bedouins that has attacked the poorest Arab country in the region.
Speakers included Ken Stone from the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War, Sid Lacombe of the Canadian Peace Alliance, Dave Mckwee of the Toronto Coalition to the Stop the War, Zafar Bangash Director Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought and Maulana Zaki Bakri of Al Mahdi Centre.
Protest Rally was organized by the Canadian Peace Alliance and Toronto Coalition to Stop the war and supported by many Christian, Jewish and Islamic groups.

During a televised speech delivered late on Friday, Nasrallah denounced Saudi-led coalition attacks on Yemen, which began on Thursday, saying that the real reason for the airstrikes is that Saudi Arabia has lost its domination on the impoverished country.
“Saudi war is aimed at regaining the domination of Yemen†he noted.
Saudis try to justify their attacks by saying that the situation in Yemen threatens the security in the region, Nasrallah stated, adding that such justifications are false and baseless.
The Hezbollah chief stressed that the countries in the coalition did not take any measures against revolutionaries in the countries like Tunisia and Egypt during the Islamic Awakening movement in the Middle East and Africa, but used the situation in Yemen as an excuse to wage a bloody war on the country.

Nasrallah\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s blistering speech today: \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"To all those who are “deeply disturbed†by Hezbollah’s unprecedented, powerful voice against the House of Saud, we tell them today, loudly and clearly, that with this ongoing criminal Riyadh-led assault on Yemen, we believe the time has come for all the Arab and Muslim peoples of our region to rise up in unison and tell the tyrannical Saudi regime - which is not merely responsible for cultivating Takfirism, unleashing it throughout the world and is still teaching this poisonous ideology in its own schools, but is also currently engaged in the destruction of our homelands as well as the brutal massacring of our people - that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! No amount of terrorism will make the Moqawama back down even one iota from staunchly denouncing and exposing this despotic regime for the crimes it is committing, nor will any threat prevent Hezbollah from standing in solidarity with the courageous and steadfast Yemeni people, who just like the resistance movements in Lebanon and Gaza before them, will undoubtedly achieve victory over the US-Saudi-Israeli scheme.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"

YEMEN Uprising of the Oppressed - Role of Saudi Arabia and USA - English
The leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen says Saudi Arabia is an enemy to the entire Muslim world, accusing the Kingdom of creating hatred and hostility, Press TV reports.
Mohamed Badreddin...
The leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen says Saudi Arabia is an enemy to the entire Muslim world, accusing the Kingdom of creating hatred and hostility, Press TV reports.
Mohamed Badreddin al-Houthi said in an interview with Press TV that Saudi Arabia is “an enemy to all the free people of the world, including non-Muslims.â€
“It manufactures terrorism and an ideology that divides the people, divides Muslims, creates hatred and hostility,†Houthi added.
The Yemeni figure, who is the brother of the late leader of the movement, Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi, further explained that in 2009 the Saudis “bribed the tribal leaders within the Houthi movement into favoring the Salafi-Wahabi ideology†so that they can control the border region between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, especially the northwestern city of Sa'ada.
In 2009, clashes broke out between the Houthi fighters and Saudi forces along the common border between the two countries. The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of supporting the Yemeni government in attacks against them.
Houthi pointed out that the Saudi regime “would spend hundreds of thousands if not millions†to achieve its goals.
Hussein al-Houthi and a number of his men were killed in an attack launched by Yemeni government forces in an area close to the border with the Kingdom in September 2004.
Yemeni dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh has repeatedly claimed that if he hands over power, Yemen would be divided into multiple states.
Mohamed al-Houthi, however, said the Yemeni nation “cannot be separated,†adding that the most important thing for the movement is “how to serve this nation, our Ummah, how to protect our morals and religious principles.â€
“We want dignity and independence. We will not accept continuation of Saleh scenario. We had enough during the 33 years [of his rule]. We cannot be fooled again,†Houthi said.
Saleh, who was injured in an attack on the presidential palace in June, returned to Yemen on September 23 after receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia.
Demonstrators in Yemen have been holding protests against the US-backed Saleh regime since late January, demanding the trial of the Yemeni dictator for the brutal crackdown on the popular uprising.
According to local reports, hundreds of Yemenis have been killed and thousands more have been injured since the onset of the popular uprising in the country.

The chorus of opposition to US drone attacks is getting louder and louder in Yemen.
The Yemeni parliament has banned the drone attacks in a symbolic vote. Anger has been on the rise at the US drone attacks in Yemen. The country has seen several protests against deadly raids by the unmanned aerial vehicles. Washington has stepped up its drone operations in Yemen in recent months. The attacks have killed many people. The US says it\\\'s targeting al-Qaeda linked militants. But many Yemenis call this a violation of their sovereignty. The American drone strikes have killed large numbers of people in other Muslims countries, including Pakistan. The United Nations has condemned the US for using its drones for what the world body calls targeted killings.

UN human rights experts express serious concern about US drone attacks resulting in civilian casualties in Yemen.
The UN special rapporteur on extra-judicial, summary or arbitrary executions says Yemen cannot accept violations of people\\\'s right to life. This, as the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture also says that deadly attacks on illegitimate targets amount to cruel or degrading treatment. According to the world body, 16 civilians were killed when two separate wedding processions were targeted by US drones in Yemen on December 12. The UN says the victims were mistakenly identified as al-Qaeda members. The US think tank, New America Foundation says about a hundred drone strikes have killed some 9-hundred people in Yemen since 2002.

Saudi Arabia’s fresh bombardments across impoverished Yemen have left nearly thirty people dead.
The latest attacks on an area between the provinces of Shabwah and Ma’rib killed seventeen Yemenis. The attacks also mistakenly killed three forces loyal to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Saudi jets pounded Abyan and Bayda provinces in the south, killing nearly a dozen people. There were several airstrikes on the provinces of Ta’izz and Amran, as well. Meanwhile, Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and their allied army units launched retaliatory rocket attacks against Saudi military sites along the border. Ryiadh has been bombing Yemen for more than six months. Over 5100 Yemenis have lost their lives so far.

Jamenei. Yemen.

Yemen's Houthi fighters have accused Saudi Arabia of helping the Yemeni army in its deadly offensive against them in the north-western province of Saada.
Zaidi Shia fighters, known as Houthis, issued a statement on Friday saying that at least two Saudi warplanes have bombed their positions in the al-Malahid district.
The fighters' statement has been dismissed by the Yemeni army as a baseless allegation.
Fighting between Yemeni troops backed by fighter aircraft and Shia fighters has killed dozens, mostly fighters, since the government launched a wide offensive against Shia tribes earlier in the month.
The Shia fighters have been engaged in on and off fighting with Yemen's army since 2004.
Press TV correspondent in Yemen, Akram Al-Hindi, says the military's campaign against Houthi fighters is expected to intensify in the coming days -- despite the growing civilian death toll.
"We have heard that there was a short truce between the government and the Houthi fighters but shortly after that the fighting erupted again," Al-Hindi said.
"The treaty which was signed based on Qatar agreement and Doha agreement has been declared dead from the Yemeni government side," he added.
According to the correspondent, the Houthi fighters claim that the government is intensifying its military offences and this calls for the end of the truce between the two sides.
"This shows that the violence will continue," Al-Hindi concluded.
The Houthis say they are defending themselves against religious oppression. The government says it is fighting an armed insurgency seeking to reinstate imamate rule, which ended in a 1962 coup.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, an estimated 119,000 people from the northwest Yemeni town of Saada are currently displaced.

As growing US domination has sparked numerous mass demonstrations in Yemen, protesters have taken to streets to express the people\'s total rejection of foreign intervention in their country\'s affairs. Meanwhile, human rights groups have lambasted the increasing number of US assassination drone attacks in Yemen, which mostly target innocent civilians. Washington uses its assassination drones in Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Somalia, claiming that they target the terrorists. The attacks, however, have mostly led to massive civilian casualties.
To further discuss the issue, Press TV\'s News analysis program has conducted an interview with vice chairman of the Southern Civil democratic Rally, Mohammed Qubati, from London, Yassir al-Mohelel political analysts in Sana\'a and Fredrick Peterson in Washington.
