Today, there are 4,300 religions being practiced in the world. Each one claims to be “the straight path”, with Christianity and Islam, being the two most ‘popular’ world religions. However, which is the “right path” and more importantly, what is the relationship which must exist amongst the followers of the various religions? TODAY WE REVIEW THE TOPIC OF ONE GOD – BUT MANY PATHS? RELIGIOUS TENSIONS IN THE WORLD.
Presented by SHAYKH SALEEM BHIMJI for ISLAMIC PUBLISHING HOUSE (https://www.iph.ca)
As we go through tumultuous times, the believers repeatedly ask, ‘When will the aide of God come?’ The answer is that it came 1,400 years ago in the form of the Noble Qur’an – the remedy for the challenges we face. Join us this year as we release our seventh season of Ramaḍān Reflections and delve into the depths of the Qur’an to extract the gems which provide us with guidance to navigate the rocky waves of life...

Prominent British lawmaker George Galloway has paid a visit to Australia to deliver lectures on the situation in the Middle East. During his hour-long lecture on the tensions engulfing the Middle East especially in Egypt the outspoken British MP criticised Mohammad Morsi the ousted Egyptian president for his handling of the Syrian crisis
The respected British MP also condemned the actions of western governments specially the US for arming the militants and Al-Qaeda forces in Syria. In this respect, NSW greens senator Lee Rhiannon had this to say to Press TV.
Mr. Galloway\'s 2 lectures during his short stay in Australia has shed light on the current tensions in the middle east and raised many questions on the actions of western governments towards this region. Finally raising hope that stability would return to the region.

A Hamas senior official has lashed out at Saudi Arabia for not granting visas to Gazans who want to go on the Hajj pilgrimage.
In remarks posted on Hummaas's website, Atef Edwan said Riyadh had allowed thousands of people registered with the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank to have visas but not the 2,200 in Gaza who applied through Hummaas, AFP reported.
"By ignoring those Gaza pilgrims registered with the Waqf (department of religious affairs) Saudi Arabia is making a political mistake that will have negative consequences on the Saudi regime and the whole region," AFP quoted Edwan as saying.
Meanwhile media outlets quoted unnamed witnesses as saying that Hummaas police set up checkpoints across Gaza on Saturday, to prevent those who coordinated their pilgrimage with the movement's rival, the Palestinian Authority from traveling.
Since last month tensions between Hummaas and the Palestinian Authority has heightened as the Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas increased the detention of Hummaas' members.

It has been 30 years since the US undertook Operation Eagle Claw - a failed military mission to rescue 52 diplomats and embassy staff taken hostage in Iran.
About 90 commandoes, eight helicopters and six aircraft landed in the Iranian desert on the first stage of the mission, but an accident resulted in the deaths of eight soldiers and it was called off.
The hostage crisis lasted for another year after "divine intervention", as some Iranians say, stopped Eagle Claw.
The anniversary comes amid rising tensions between the US and Iran.
Al Jazeera Alireza Ronaghi reports from Tehran.

Midnight on the Mavi Marmara - English

“We have been attacked while in international waters. That means the Israelis have behaved like pirates … The moment they start to steer this ship towards Israel, we have also been kidnapped. The whole action is illegal.”—Henning Mankell, aboard the Gaza Freedom Flotilla
Eastern Mediterranean, Monday, May 31st, 2010, 4.30am: Israeli commandos, boarding from sea and air, attack the six boats of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla as it sails through international waters bringing humanitarian relief to the beleaguered Palestinians of Gaza. Within minutes, nine peace activists are dead, shot by the Israelis. Scores of others are injured. The 700 people on board the ships are arrested before being transported to detention centers in Israel and then deported.
Within hours, outrage at Israel’s action echoes around the world. Spontaneous demonstrations in Europe, the United States, Turkey, and Gaza itself denounce the attack. Turkey’s prime minister describes it as a “bloody massacre” and “state terrorism.” Lebanon’s prime minister calls it “a dangerous and crazy step that will exacerbate tensions in the region.”
In these pages, a range of activists, journalists, and analysts piece together the events that occurred that May night, unpicking their meanings for Israel’s illegal, three-year-long blockade of Gaza and the decades-long Israel/Palestine conflict more generally. Mixing together first-hand testimony, documentary record, and illustration, with hard-headed analysis and historical overview, Midnight on the Mavi Marmara reveals why the attack on Gaza Freedom Flotilla may just turn out to be Israels Selma, Alabama: the beginning of the end for an apartheid Palestine.

Ahmadinejads Speech at Azadi Square to mark the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that a new Middle East will be created in the near future without the United States and Israel.
"I assure you that despite all evil and complicated plans, and thanks to the resistance of nations, there will be a new Middle East but without the US and the Zionist regime [of Israel]," he told the Iranians gathering at Tehran's Azadi Square to mark the 32nd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
The Iranian president also urged the arrogant powers not to interfere in the internal affairs of the region's countries such as Egypt and Tunisia.
"What are you doing in Afghanistan? What are these military bases in the region for? Are you compassionate or hypocrite?" Ahmadinejad asked.
He also argued that the West is deceitful in claiming that with the two-state slogan it can pave the way for Israel to dominate the region.
Hailing the revolution in Egypt, the Iranian president warned the Egyptian people to be vigilant, insisting that "It is your right to be free. It is your right to decide your government, and it is your right to freely express yourself about your country and global issues."
"Be united and do not fear corrupt governments, and victory is near," he added.
In Egypt, thousands of people gathered outside the presidential palace in Cairo on Friday after President Hosni Mubarak refused to step down amid repeated calls for his resignation.
Tensions are expected to escalate further on the eighteenth day of pro-democracy protests as millions are to come together at mosques for Muslim communal prayers on Friday.

What started as a regular basketball game between two teams, ended in the arrest of 30 Turkish youth. Police in the Turkish city of Kayseri stepped in after the crowd, waving Palestinian flags, began protesting against the Israeli team.
According to the indictment, they have been accused of "insulting Israel".
This is not the first time Israeli players have been forced off the court. In 2009, some 3000 Turkish fans disrupted a game in the capitol Ankara.
Soma analysts say these events shine a light on the growing rift between the long-time regional allies, who share trade, military and strategic ties.
Tensions between Turkey and Israel were at one time, reserved only for the political leaders. However that is now being seen on the streets. This is especially true since the deadly raid on the Gaza aid ship back in May of last year that saw 9 Turkish activists' killed.
Israel refuses to apologize to Turkey for the deaths saying their troops acted in self defense.
According to Hayrettin Turan, the editor of the foreign desk at Turkiye Newspaper, relations between the two countries really soured with the Israeli invasion of the Gaza strip in December 2008.
While Turkey is a predominantly Muslim country, it is a secular one, leading some to believe it will make a good role model for new governments in the Middle East.
Turkey also maintains strong ties with Iran and with that growing influence across the region. The dilemma now rests with Israel and how long they feel their policies will keep them afloat.
