More heavy rains in Pakistan are hampering efforts to deliver aid to over 15 million people affected by the country's devastating floods.
Nearly 40 people were killed and several others injured in the most recent deluge caused by torrential rains in parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The monsoon rains, which began on July 27, caused floods and damage in different parts of the province, rendering many communities inaccessible due to destroyed roads and collapsed bridges.
As the number of people affected by the flooding exceeds 15 million, Pakistan's Federal Flood Commission has warned that the Indus River was overflowing its banks in the south.
The floodwaters flowing from northwestern Pakistan have already destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes.
The two weeks of flooding have, so far, claimed over 1,600 lives. Meanwhile, in neighboring Indian-controlled Kashmir, floods have killed over 130 people.
Authorities expect the death toll to rise as hundreds are missing and rescue workers are unable to reach affected areas.

Pakistan"s annual monsoon rains have reached all five of the country"s provinces, affecting millions of people.
The non-stop rain has caused river banks to burst, releasing torrents of water that has obliterated everything in its path.
More than four million people are displaced and at least 1,600 people have been killed, a number that may rise as bodies are recovered from the rivers.
Al Jazeera"s Imran Khan reports from Sukkur in Sindh province, which has been hit hard by the swollen waters of the Indus river.

Indian troops kill Five in Kashmir
Police in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir have once again opened fire on protesters, killing at least Five and injuring more than two dozen others.
According to police sources, after protests turned violent security forces were forced to open fire to disperse protesters in the southern town of Mendhar, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The death toll is expected to rise as some of the injured are said to be in critical condition.
The deaths have triggered more protests in neighboring Poonch district and surrounding areas with protestors attacking several police stations in the disputed Himalayan region.
The regional administration has sought the help of Indian paramilitary forces to contain the situation in the predominantly Muslim region.
In a separate incident, pro-independence demonstrators set fire to two government buildings to protest a round-the-clock curfew across Kashmir, which has been in place for four days now.
Residents say they are running out of food and supplies.
Kashmir has been the scene of violent clashes on an almost daily basis.
Over 90 Kashmiri protesters have lost their lives at the hands of Indian troops since the unrest erupted back in June.

In His Name, the Most High
Oh Our Lord, Place Us In The Proximity
the Divinely Guided Ones From Bani Hashim
(Family of the Prophet Muhammad(S))
- A Poetic Translation
(Islamic Supplication / Lamentation)
Oh Our Lord! Place us in the proximity of
the Divinely Guided Ones from Bani Hashim
(Bani Hashim is the family of Prophet Muhammad(S))
For the sake of the Seal of the Prophets(S),
the Father of Revelation, Abal Qassim(S)
(These are amongst the titles of the Prophet Muhammad(S))
From those who fasted, and who prayed, and
who were always sincere to the Seal [Of the Prophets](S)
Those who endured three continuous days of fasting
[for the sake of Allah]
(Reference: Quran, Surah al-Insaan (#76), Verses 7-10)
Save us from the blazing fire,
Oh Most Merciful, Oh Most Compassionate
Save us from the blazing fire,
and protect us from all evil.
For who's sake you returned the Sun, and who is the Gate

For the sake of her who is a part of the Prophet(S),

And for the sake of those who were poisoned and murdered

all the oppressors!
And for the sake of as-Sajjad(A), and al-Baqir(A),

And for the sake on the one [poisoned and] buried in Tus,

Bahrain's riot police have killed one protester and injured twenty others during violent crackdown on the "Day of Rage" rallies in the capital Manama.
Eyewitnesses said a 22-year-old protester died on Monday of bullet wounds in his back in the village of Daih, a suburb of Manama, dpa reported.
Two other protesters were said to be in critical condition after also sustaining gunshot injuries, the report added.
Police used tear gas to disperse hundreds of pro-democracy protesters in several villages of Shia Muslim majority on the same day, the interior ministry and witnesses said.
Women, elderly people and a paramedic were among those who had required hospitalization by early evening.
It was not immediately clear how many had gunshot injuries, but sources estimated it to be at least five. Others suffered broken bones and injuries related to rubber bullets and teargas inhalation.
Bahraini security forces were deployed in force along the main routes into Manama in an effort to prevent a gathering that had been arranged on the Internet in the wake of the rise of pro-democracy protests around the Arab world.
Activists, inspired by revolutions in Egypt and Tunisia, dubbed Monday "the Day of Rage" to express disappointment at the political reforms of the past decade, which have failed to bring prosperity and real change.
The majority Shia population in Bahrain has been complaining about inequality and oppression. The government has been clamping down on the opposition since the country's controversial general elections in August last year.

Supreme Leader: US Losing Allies in Region
TEHRAN (FNA)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday reminded Washington\\\'s consecutive failures in the confrontation against the Islamic Revolution that toppled the US-backed Shah in Iran 1979, and said the Iranian Revolution started a move which has now resulted in the collective fall of the US proxies in the region.
\\\"Thirty years ago, the \\\'Great Satan\\\' (the US) lost just one of its corrupt affiliates, that is the Pahlavi regime, but it is now witnessing an extensive loss of its proxies and puppet regimes,\\\" Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a group of students at Imam Hossein (AS) university here in Tehran today.
The Leader pointed to the growing power of the Islamic Revolution despite three decades of conspiracies and plots, and added, \\\"The Great Satan has brought to stage its military, financial, propaganda and political cartels in a bid to defeat the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation but the realities of the political scene of Iran and the region demonstrate that the US has been brought to its knees in its confrontation against the Islamic Revolution.\\\"
Ayatollah Khamenei further reiterated the Islamic nature of the recent popular uprisings in the region and the influence and effects of Iran\\\'s Revolution on these uprisings.
\\\"Today, Islam and Quran are prevailing among the youths and the regional nations after the failure of the hegemonic system\\\'s nonstop attempts, and this reality is the radiant rise of a flag hoisted by the Iranian nation on this land in 1357 (1979).\\\"
In recent months, a wave of revolutions and anti-government uprisings has been sweeping the Arab world.
In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the 23-year ruling of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
In February, another Arab revolution led to the ouster of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak after three decades of his authoritarian rule.
Other revolutions later erupted in Libya, Yemen and Bahrain, while other anti-government unrests are growing in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Kuwait and somehow Algeria.

The firefly is equipped with an amazing system. This insect has an organ in its body that produces fluorescent light. This light has great significance for the firefly to preserve its race, because the female and male fireflies recognize each other by looking at their lights. The fluorescent organ of the firefly is composed of three layers just like the headlamps of an automobile. Cells that produce light lie at the bottom layer. The duty of these cells is to produce a combustible substance. This combustible substance reacts with oxygen controlled by an enzyme. As a result of this chemical reaction, the fluorescent light manufactured in a similar fashion to a factory is first transferred to the adjacent concave layer and then to the upper transparent layer where it is reflected as light. The perfect quality and 98% productivity rate of this fluorescent light astonished scientists examining fireflies. The light bulbs used for lighting purposes by people can only convert 5% of the received energy into light, the remaining 95% being lost in the form of heat. Because of this 95% heat which is released, we cannot touch a light bulb when it is on. Despite the fact that the firefly produces almost 20 times more light than a light bulb, the temperature does not rise, due to the cold nature of its light. Man can produce cold light only in laboratories, at the end of a series of chemical reactions. It is obviously irrational to claim that this complex lighting system has been designed and then installed in the body of this tiny insect by itself. More irrational than this is the claim of the theory of evolution that this system formed as a result of coincidences in nature. The perfection in the firefly's body is an indication that it is the product of a superior wisdom and infinite knowledge. Allah created all living species with distinct qualities and through them shows us His Eternal Might. In a verse of the Qur'an, people are summoned to ponder on this fact:
Among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and all the creatures He has spread about in them. And He has the power to gather them together whenever He wills. (Surat ash-Shura: 29)
