Leader denounces any moves satisfying enemies (2011/04/30 - 16:21)
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday that any moves that might satisfy the enemies or disappoint friends should be avoided.
Islamic Revolution Leader made the remark in a meeting with members of the High Council of Mayors, on Saturday.
Ayatollah Khamenei lauded the grave responsibilities of Islamic councils in urban and rural areas and said the will of God is with the convergence of people in handling the affairs.
Relying on and respecting the ideas of people is a source of pride for the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"Guardian Council is the only reliable body to interpret Islamic law," Islamic Revolution Leader said while defining the duties of the Islamic city and village councils.
Underlining the significant role of city and village councils, the Islamic Revolution Leader said these councils are accountable to people irrespective of geographical or cultural differences.
"Under the blessing of Islam, we have maintained our Iranian identity and this should be demonstrated by rendering services to people in both urban and rural areas," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"Any disharmony or negative competition would be harmful to the country," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

U-S Secretary of State John Kerry says any new sanctions on Iran would send a wrong message to the countries involved in the nuclear negotiations with Tehran.
Kerry made the remarks in a briefing to U-S Congressmen about the recent nuclear deal between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. Kerry said that new sanctions would eventually lead to the removal of all sanctions because the other negotiating partners would not follow suit. He said that decades of sanctions have failed to make any impact on the Iranian nuclear program. He added that President Barack Obama is committed and needs the help of Congress to resolve the nuclear issue, which he called-QUOTE- the most urgent, critical, and pressing. At one point, Kerry also said the military option against Iran is not off the table. But he stated he hopes the Iran nuclear issue can be resolved in less than six months

Lebanon\\\'s Army commander has warned that the military will respond to any Israeli aggression.
The warning was made as General Jean Qahwaji\\\'s visited the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon. Qahwaji says the Lebanese military is committed to the implementation of all United Nations Security Council resolutions, in particular 17-01. The resolution, which ended the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, demanded the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from south Lebanon. Earlier this month, Lebanon\\\'s south was the scene of deadly clashes between Israeli and Lebanese forces. The ensuing tensions prompted the Security Council to call for calm and restraint by both sides.

[13 June 2012] Russia will confront any US - led attack on Syria Webster Tarpley - English
Israel is apparently laying the groundwork for a possible military attack on Syria by alleging that Damascus could be using chemical weapons against the Syrian people. Tel Aviv has recently expressed concern about what it calls the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Israel says the weapons could fall into the wrong hands and that they may even be used by Syria to carry out an attack against Israeli forces. The pretext is being used to justify a possible military assault on Syria even if it means triggering a broader conflict across the region. Ayoob Kara, a senior member of the Israeli Likud Party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claimed in an interview with Israel Radio on June 9 that the Syrian government has used "chemical weapons against men, women, and children" during the past months of unrest in the country.
Press TV talks with Dr. Webster Griffin Tarpley, author and historian in Washington, to further shed light on the issue.

During the sixth anniversary of the July 2006 war, Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has warned Israel on any strike against Lebanon in the future and that Hezbollah’s resistance will have a big military surprise for them.
Hezbollah’s Secretary General has considered the 2006 war as the first step in targeting the entire resistance bloc including Iran and Syria:
Sayyed Nasrallah has revealed that Hezbollah’s missiles, which were used against Israel were not only transferred through Syria, but were also Syrian made.
Nasrallah stressed that the most important weapons, which were fought with by the resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine were from Syria. He further stressed that the U.S. has taken advantage of rightful demands for the Syrian people and prevented dialogue and has turned Syria into a war zone.
Several hours prior to his speech, Hezbollah supporters flocked to the Southern Beirut Suburbs sounding their support for Hezbollah louder than ever.
What is seen by Hezbollah’s supporters as a divine victory over Israel in the 2006 summer war is seen by military experts as a major transformation which has made Hezbollah a regional player to be reckoned with for years to come.
