Iran has slammed anti-Iran remarks made by U-S undersecretary of state Wendy Sherman. Let\'s first see what the U-S official had said at a meeting with a group of US senators on October 3.
Now Iran\'s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said Sherman has apparently no clear view of the Iranian people. Afkham said such remarks also contradict the principle of mutual respect. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said what is part of Iranians\' D-N-A is resistance against any form of bullying. Afkham\'s comments come as inside Iran many people including their M-Ps are angered by Sherman\'s insulting comments.

A Bahraini court has sentenced 10 anti-regime protesters to jail as part of Manama\'s continued crackdown on dissent.
Nine protesters were sentenced to terms of three-months to one-year in prison for taking part in protests against the al-Khalifah regime. Another protester was also given a six-month jail term for an alleged attack on a police station. The court had charged him with aggression against police, possession of petrol bombs and taking part in an unauthorized protest aiming at undermining public security. Meanwhile, tensions in the small Persian Gulf island nation continue to flare as police raid the headquarters of the main opposition bloc, called al-Wefaq. No word yet on the fate of those inside the H-Q, as regime forces refuse to allow anyone in or out of the building. Al-Wefaq\'s lawyer and the group\'s senior members have also been prevented from entering the building. The complex houses a museum that documents the Bahraini regime\'s human rights violations.

Bahraini regime forces have attacked anti-government protesters at a demonstration held to condemn the repression.
Saudi-backed Bahraini forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters in the village of Daih, west of the capital Manama. On Friday, tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to protest against the regime\'s crackdown. The demonstration was called by Bahrain\'s main opposition group, al-Wefaq. Nelson Mandela, the revered icon of the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa and one of the towering political figures of the 20th century, has died at the age 95. Mandela was South Africa\'s first black president after spending nearly three decades in prison.
In this debate we will discuss his legacy, and its impact, and whether it would translate to changes, like on the lives of oppressed Palestinians in the occupied territories, a form of apartheid exercised by Israel.

A mass demonstration marking one-thousand days of anti-government protests in Bahrain.
Demonstrators rallied near the capital Manama calling for an inclusive political solution. The main opposition bloc al-Wefaq says several protest organizers have been arrested by regime forces. Al-Wefaq says the arrests have been made to curb people\'s right to hold peacefull rallies. Protesters have been calling for the downfall of the regime since the popular uprising started in February 2011. Dozens of people have been killed and a large number of demonstrators arrested in the crackdown since then.

Thousands of Egyptians took to the streets of Cairo and elsewhere around the country to denounce what the protesters label \'the coup\'s constitution.
On Tuesday, more than a dozen students were injured as Morsi supporters staged protests against the military backed authorities. Police fired tear gas at students protesting outside Assiut University in Assuit province in Upper Egypt. Students held banners in support of Mohamed Morsi as they shouted anti police and army slogans. Such demonstrations are regarded as illegal, since they do not conform to a new law requiring organizers to give three days notice of a protest and to have it approved by the government. On another front, the Anti Coup Alliance said that the coalition will be boycotting the referendum which is set to take place next month. Many are fearful that Egypt would be gripped by another wave of deadly violence ahead of the referendum on what some call a disputed constitution.

In Egypt, an alliance of Islamic groups called anti-coup alliance has finally made its widely-expected announcement about the constitutional referendum slated for January.
The alliance was formed following the July\'s ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi --- a move which it sees as a military coup. In its long-awaited announcement, the alliance said it had weighed the option of rallying for a No-vote, but finally decided to go for a boycott. The alliance said it\'s against the referendum, because it will be held by a government which it says has killed and detained many people following Morsi\'s ouster.

Turkish riot police have attacked anti-government protesters with water cannons, tear gas, and plastic bullets in Istanbul.
The angry protesters were calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government. More than 30 people were arrested in the clashes around Istanbul\\\'s Taksim Square. Similar demonstrations were held in the city of Izmir, and in the capital, Ankara, where police also fired water cannons to disperse the crowds. Erdogan is facing mounting pressure over the accusations he is trying to cover up a corruption and bribery scandal that has implicated his allies. But the prime minister claims the corruption probe is a \\\"smear campaign\\\" mounted by obscure international forces in order to undermine his government and the country\\\'s economy.
