The Syria conflict erupted in March 2011. And soon after, it escalated into an armed insurgency, backed by the US and its allies, including regional countries like Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
A rising death toll, new reports of atrocities by the insurgents, suspicion that chemical arms may have been used, and a dual approach by the UK and US in particular, calling for a Geneva-style conference, yet throwing more aid to the insurgents on the ground, the Israeli threat of yet another attack should Assad fall are just some of the topics we will cover in this edition of the show.

calling for the respect of the legitimacy of the Tunisian government. They also denounced the military coup in Egypt, which they described as a Western conspiracy. The demonstrators slammed the financial aid by Saudi Arabia and the UAE to the Egyptian Military commanders amid a strong outrage by millions of supporters of the country\'s ousted president Morsi. The Tunisians warned against similar interference in their country. The protesters waved the Egyptian flag and addressed messages to the agents of former Tunisian president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali who fled to Saudi Arabia following a popular uprising in 2011.

More tragedy for one of the most persecuted communities in the world. A boat full of Rohingya Muslims breaks apart in the Bay of Bengal off the western coast of Myanmar. Aid workers say so far only eight have survived and dozens more are missing. They were among at least 70 Rohingyas including women, children and babies who were on board the boat that left Myanmar for Bangladesh. The United Nation is warning about several reports of boat drowning off the coasts of Myanmar. According to the UN human rights commission, at least 15-hundred people left their homes in the restive Rakhine state last week alone. Myanmar has been plagued by sectarian tensions for years. Buddhists\' violence against Rohingya\'s community has left hundreds of Muslims dead in addition to over 250-thousand people displaced.

It\'s been more than three weeks since vital supply route for the US led forces stationed in neighboring Afghanistan remains blocked in the North West of Pakistan. The supply route at Torkham border has been blocked by activists of religious and political parties to protest against the US assassination drone strikes in the tribal areas.
However, the move by the provincial government, which is run by Tehreek-e-Insaf or Justice Party, has put the central government in difficult position. That is why these top Pakistani civil and military authorities gathered in Islamabad to find a way out of the ongoing standoff. Despite efforts by the central government, the provincial administration has refused to allow trucks carrying supplies for the US forces in Afghanistan pass through the Torkham border.Pakistan is considered important for the US to ensure its forces\' smooth pull out of Afghanistan. The US has recently threatened to suspend billions of dollars in aid to Pakistan if supply routes are not reopened. In the face off continuing US drone attacks, Pakistan\'s civil and military leadership has promised to safeguard the country\'s national interests. However, they have not been able to come up with a clear strategy to pacify the growing public anger against the CIA\'s illegal and deadly drone campaign.

More than a quarter of the US Senate introduces a new bill to impose fresh sanction on Iran.
The bill is sponsored by 13 Democrats and 13 Republicans. They say the sanctions will be slapped against Iran if the country breaches the terms of last month\'s Geneva deal. The draft also forces the US administration to support Israel militarily, diplomatically and economically in case Tel Aviv decides to launch an attack against Iran\'s nuclear energy program. Congress has recently tripled the US government\'s requested aid for Israel. Meanwhile, the White House has highlighted the use of diplomacy as a suitable approach for resolving Iran\'s nuclear issue.

Syrian armed forces continue making advances in Aleppo. The army has managed to retake a number of buildings in the district of Layramoun in the city\\\'s north.
The area is considered the northern gateway into Aleppo. The army\\\'s advances stop foreign-backed militants from smuggling weapons into Aleppo from the northern part of the city. The achievement is the latest in a series of military operations against insurgents who receive military aid from their supporters in Western countries and their regional allies, especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

The incoming president of the association says she will fully support the boycott against Israeli academics over Tel Aviv\\\'s conflict with Palestinians. The move was launched last month by the five-thousand-member association. The American Studies Association says Israeli institutions that aid and support the illegal occupation are to be boycotted over the discriminatory treatment of Palestinians. Beirut has filed a complaint to the United Nations against Israel over its spying on Lebanon. If Israel\'s spying, along with its violation of Lebanese airspace, \"constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and continuous aggression on Lebanese lands, Lebanese people, the military, security, and civilian institutions, then why hasn\'t the UN done anything about it? That\'s one of the questions we\'ll be asking in this edition of the debate. We\'ll also discuss the row over gas between Israel and Lebanon, and see what the chances are of a clash between Israel and Hezbollah.
Guests:
- Historian & Political Adviser, Geoffrey Alderman, (LONDON).
- Prof., Notre Dame University, George Labaki (BEIRUT).
Subjects:
1) Lebanon\'s caretaker Fm has not only filed a complaint to the UN: He has sent similar letters to foreign ministers of nations belonging to the 15-member Security Council, as well as to the Arab League, European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement Iranian President Hassan Rouhani: Will any action be taken against Israel that will change Israel\'s behavior?
- \"Israel\'s continuous aggression constitutes a violation of international law and relevant international resolutions, particularly Resolution 1701
2) On Israel\'s illegal spying activities: the Dangers of the Israeli Telecomm Towers in Lebanese Territory, along with the Telecommunications Ministry announcement that Israel had installed surveillance posts along the border with Lebanon capable of monitoring the entire country: Why such interest in spying on such a vast scale over Lebanon?
3) REAX: \"Israel\'s next war must start in Lebanon\": Headline a few days of the Jewish Press: The next confrontation must start with heavy bombing attacks that would minimize later damage to Israeli cities like Kiryat Shmona, Tzfat, Nahariya and Tveria.
- Israel air attacks inside Syria took place 5 times in 2013: Israel said to stop transfer of weapons to Hezbollah: Yet, other reports indicate most of the long-range surface to surface missiles has reached Hezbolah: Why has Israel not attacked Lebanon, or Hezbollah strongholds?
- Syria spillover increasing chances of Israel attacking Lebanon: Two rockets fired from Lebanon landed close to the northern Israel: Israel responded to the attack immediately by shelling the area from which the attack originated. Possibility: that a Jihad group launched the attack in order to get Israel to attack Hezbollah and to force Hezbollah to divert some of its troops from Syria back to Lebanon.
4) The United States and Hezbollah are in secret talks to deal with the fight against al-Qaida, regional stability, and Lebanese political issues?
- Talks, brokered by the UK, \"are aimed at keeping tabs on the changes in the region and the world, and prepare for the upcoming return of Iran to the international community
5) The Eastern Mediterranean\'s Oil And Gas: Israel and Lebanon have been at odds over their maritime borders for decades, and recent discoveries in what\'s called the Levant Basin could create more conflict?
6) Israel has found comfort in one of its enemies: Saudi Arabia (who has just given 3 billion in military aid to Lebanon): how do u view this alliance vis-à-vis Lebanon?

The shooting took place just north of the Israeli settlement of Ofra. Palestinian medical and security officials say the victim is 18-year-old Mohammad Mubarak, who lived in the Jalazone refugee camp. Palestinian sources said Mubarak was a laborer on a US-aid project in the area. Israeli officials have confirmed the deadly shooting. However, they claimed that Mohammad was a \"terrorist\" who was shot dead after opening fire on Israeli forces. In Syria, militants have withdrawn from a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Damascus under a deal with Palestinian factions. Palestinian fighters have been deployed to prevent the entry of any gunmen after most insurgents left the Yarmouk camp. Now a Palestinian delegation is set to tour it soon to make sure that all militants have left. Bomb disposal experts will also be sent there following the tour to defuse all explosives and mines before humanitarian aid is allowed in. Thousands of civilians have been trapped in Yarmouk since the Syrian army laid a siege on the camp after fighting broke out between opponents and supporters of the Syrian government there.
