The Story of Stuff will take you on a provocative tour of the consumer-driven culture in the US and the increasing consumerism and materialism in the rest of the world - from resource extraction to iPod incineration - exposing the real costs of our use-it and lose-it approach to stuff. -- ISLAM is against materialism because it results in social injustice and oppression. But also because Islam wants to nurture the inner spirituality and other potential noble qualities in human beings - and materialism - that is the slavery of this world - takes them in exactly the opposite direction. Often non-religious movements choose to resist materialism because of its consequences on society - that is they resist materialism for instrumental - means to ends - reasons. Islam however places importance on simplicity and modesty because they are valuable in themselves for human perfection. Hence even if the world becomes full of resources and everyone has more than what he or she needs Islam would still stress on simplicity and modesty in the lifestyles and pursuits of its followers. Judith Butler describes the circumstances of the Lebanese war and political-legal maneuvering by international peace keeping bodies. Inquires into the politics surrounding UN resolutions and their implementation. Sheds light on the strategic aims of Israeli War on Lebanon in 2006. Finally she argues that criticizing the Israeli entity is not anti-semitism. That a true understanding of Jewish teachings makes the criticism of Israel not only possible but also obligatory.

Fatima the daughter of Allah s Apostle got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr and continued assuming that attitude till she died. 8th April every year is commemorated by the Islamic Ummah as the anniversary of the martyrdom of the super genius personality of Islam Ayatullah al-Uzma Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr who was born in Kazemain -Iraq- on Ziqaadah 25 1353 A.H. He belonged to a religious family which has been the cradle of Islamic learning for about a century by now. He lost his father when he was only 4 years old and he was then brought up by his mother and elder brother Ismail al-Sadr. From his very childhood he showed signs of extra-ordinary intelligence and aptitude for learning. When he was only 10 years he spoke on doctrinal matters and Islamic History with such confidence as if he had spent decades mastering these subjects. When he was 11 years old he wrote a book on logic and also began delivering lectures on this subject. In 1365 A.H when he was 12 years old he settled in Najaf -Iraq- and began studying as well as teaching the principles of Islamic Jurisprudence and other branches of Islamic learning. He possessed such an extra-ordinary acumen that he could fully comprehend the lessons of the level of his own studies without the help of his teacher. Eventually he was elevated to the position of Ijtihad -jurisprudent- and also began writing books. He has written 26 books on various subjects. Some of these books have been translated into Persian English Urdu and Turkish. Including - Jurisprudence - Fundamentals of Jurisprudence - Economics - Philosophy - Inductive Logic - Social Problems and Public administration. Ayatullah Sadr s support of Imam Khomeini r.a. and his opposition to the atheist Bathist regime in Iraq led by Saddam shook the foundations of the atheist Bathist regime of Saddam. Ayatullah Sadr as the leader the Islamic movement had gained popular support from the Muslims in Iraq and emerged as powerful force in Iraq. The atheist Baathist Saddam arrested Ayatullah Sadr and his sister Aminah Bint al-Huda in February 1980 and were imprisoned in the notorious Abu Ghuraib prison in Baghdad. He and his sister were severely tortured by the Baathist agents in the prison and were shot dead directly by the hands of atheist Baathist Saddam on April 8th 1980. Thus the super genius personality of Islam Martyred Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and his learned scholar sister Amina Bint al-Huda were martyred by the atheist Baathist Saddam. Amina Bint al-Huda was great Islamic scholar and an advocate of women rights in Islam and single handedly recruited hundreds of women into fold of Islam. She was prolific novelist and political speaker that mobilized masses to struggle against tyranny of atheist Baathist Saddam. Ayatullah Sadr s martyrdom aroused no criticism from the West against the atheist Baathist Saddam regime - its reason was clear - because Ayatullah Sadr had openly supported the Islamic revolution in Iran. The bodies of the martyred Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr and his learned scholar sister Amina Bint al-Huda were buried in holy city of Najaf - beside Imam Ali a.s. shrine. Imam Khomeini r.a. in his message on their martyrdom stated - Martyr Ayatullah Baqir Sadr and his honorable sister who were the teachers of Islamic sciences and morality were martyred by Iraqi regime. Martyrdom is a heritage which these dear individuals inherited it from their holy ancestors.

Mulla Ali Fadhil reciting an English eulogy on the martydom of Imam Musa Al Kadhim
Lyrics:
The Shia are screaming crying...that their Imam is dead
And the skies are testifying...that holy blood was shed
Over his body...they cry can\'t you see
They cry can\'t you see...over his body
* * *
How are their hearts that believing...that when he dies they can\'t rest
And with the death of Al Khathom...tears are shed in East and West
Even the sky sheds tears for him...with Al Khathom laid to rest
With him gone even angels weep...him dying is their great test
Were it not for this tragedy...the Shia would not cry
And for his great calamity...the Shia\'s hearts will die
Over his body...they cry can\'t you see
They cry can\'t you see...over his body
* * *
With his death the days are darkened...and his Shia cry and weep
For these tears they will be oppressed...the cost of a love so deep
To many this love is a crime...after they sew what they reap
Love of al Khathom is an oath...an oath that Shia will keep
Imam Khathom was the Quraan...that his followers read
The love of Ahmed they had won...but now their hearts are dead
Over his body...they cry can\'t you see
They cry can\'t you see...over his body
* * *
The day turns dark with deep anger...like when Haydar\'s blood was shed
The same darkness poisons his son...a pool of blood for his bed
That blood did not start with Ali...it was shed from Zahra\'s head
After they slapped her and she cried...now al Khathom cries instead
This pure bloodline was always killed...so Khathom\'s death was fate
In Shia hearts love is instilled...for Mehdi they will wait
Over his body...they cry can\'t you see
They cry can\'t you see...over his body
* * *
Like the bee can\'t leave the flower...Imam Khathom they can\'t leave
Over his pure body they weep...and for endless nights they grieve
Like the young bird will leave its nest...Khathom\'s soul left and believe
And that soul belongs to Jannah...like Adam belonged to Eve
Between his sickness and his death...lies Imam Khathom\'s tears
Between his birth and his last breath...he cried for months and years
Over his body...they cry can\'t you see
They cry can\'t you see...over his body

In a statement on Sunday, Iran called for restraint and an immediate halt of the large-scale Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
Israel attacked the impoverished strip on Saturday, leaving 800 people in a critical state. The Saturday attacks are widely believed to be one of the worst in the 60-year history of the Israeli occupation.
"The international community is duty bound to defend Gaza civilians in the face of Israel's genocide and crimes against humanity," the Foreign Ministry statement reads according to press tv.
"Tel Aviv's bombardment of the Gaza Strip is yet another brazen example of Israel's terrorist mindset and its gross violation of human rights," it adds.
The statement condemns the barrage of Israeli attacks on civilian non-military targets as being in stark defiance of the Geneva Convention and UN resolutions.
Article 33 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states that no protected person may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed, hence collective punishment and all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.
The Saturday onslaught came after a six-month truce between Israel and the democratically-elected Palestinian government of Hamas expired on December 19 - and after repeated violations by Tel Aviv.
The Arab world reacted in shock to the Israeli incursion into Gaza and stepped up calls for retaliation against Israel.
"Today everybody has to stand by the side of the Palestinian people and stop this blind military action," said Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Russia and France have also decried the large-scale operations, demanding that Israel immediately halt its attacks on the Gaza Strip.
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, however, snubbed international appeals for an end to the attacks and asserted that operations against Gaza will go on for "as long as necessary".
"There is a time for cease-fires and a time to fight, and now is the time to fight," said Barak, adding that the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and security forces have been masterminding the Gaza invasion "for months".
In a televised speech on Sunday, Barak confirmed that Tel Aviv may even send ground troops into Gaza to help in carrying out fresh attacks on the coastal strip.
The UN Security Council held emergency consultations Saturday night and early Sunday to outline a resolution, by which Israel would be obliged to halt its military operations "without delay".

Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
For we are one people, whether you like it or not
You are a Semite, A son of Israeel (Issac)
I am a Semite, A son of Ismaeel (Ishmael)
Our father, the father of both you and I
Is Ibrahim (Abraham)
Or are you one who will even deny his own father?
Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
We will die on our feet
But we will not live on our knees.
You know how to kill, but we know how to die
Hitler gassed 6 million of you, but he could not kill your spirit
Those who died only made stronger, those who remained alive
Why then did you imagine that if you became Hitlers
The results of your gassing would be any different?
Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
Just as others silently watched you going into the gas chambers
Others silently watch us burying our children, the children that you continue to kill
But we remind ourselves
That the blow that does not break the back, only strengthens you.
O! You who used to be the People of Musa (Moses),
But today you have become people of the Firawn (Pharaoh)
Remember we are the real people of Moses, for we, not you, believe in his message
Remember that when the fight is between Moses and Pharaoh
Moses always wins.
We say to the silent watchers, the cowards,
We say to those who sit securely in their homes
We are the front line who are holding back the enemy
When we fall, it will be your turn.
Remember O! Arabs
The story of the White Bull (Al Thawr il Abyadh)
Who said to the world when the tiger finally came for him
Listen O! People, I do not die today,
I died when the Black Bull died.
Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
We did not come into this world to live here forever
Neither did you
One day we will all go from here
Whether we like it or not
What is important my brother, son of Israeel
Sons of a Prophet, O! What have you become today?
What have you allowed them to make you?
Kill us, if that is what you want to do
At least we die at the hands of our own brothers
And not at the hands of strangers
Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
We laugh as we see your Apache helicopters and F-16 jets fly overhead
We laugh because we can smell your fear
Why else do you need Apaches and F-16s to fight children with rocks?
A battle of honor is between equals
We challenge you, you who have sold your honor
Come to us as equals so that we can show you how to die with honor
We laugh at you because we know, that not in a million years
Will one of you ever have the guts to stand up to one of our children
Without hiding behind an array of weapons that the American tax payer gives you
We laugh at you, because that is what every warrior does
When he faces an army of cowards.
Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
It is not whether we live or die that is important
It is how we live and how we die
Ask yourself: How would you like to be remembered?
Without respect, despised and accursed through the centuries,
Or blessed, honored, your passing mourned.
Allah is our witness: We lived with honor; begging for no favors
And He is our witness: That today we die with honor, on our feet
Fighting until the last breath leaves our body, even if all we have in our hands are stones
He is the witness over us both
As you kill us and as we die
And to Him is our return
Listen and listen well
O! One who could have been our brother
On that Day, my little baby who you killed last night
Will ask Him for what crime she was murdered
Prepare your answer, O! One who could have been our brother
For you will answer to Him
I swear by His Power: You will answer to Him.

Swine flu tragedy sparks conspiracy talk
In a world only recently relieved of virulent epidemics such as avian flu, SARS and mad cow disease, the emergence of swine flu has sparked new fears and has fueled talk of a conspiracy.
The latest in the wave of pandemics broke out in Mexico where the reported "probable" death toll has reached 152, though the number of deaths confirmed by Health Ministry does not go further than 20.
Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova reported that there was a fall in the number of suspected flu deaths from six on Saturday to five on Sunday and to three on Monday meaning that the epidemic could be receding.
However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has raised its alert level from three to four -- which means that the virus is showing a sustained ability to pass from human to human with the potential to cause community-level outbreaks.
WHO Assistant Director General Keiji Fukuda said the virus had become too widespread to be contained by closing borders or imposing travel bans, urging that countries should now strive to alleviate the effects of the virus.
As large quantities of a promised swine flu vaccine is to be ready in no earlier than six months, the disease has sparked a reaction across South America, where doctors have been deployed to airports to check passengers suspected of carrying the lethal virus.
Asian and European countries also raised vigilance on Monday to prevent a potential spread of swine flu, which has already found its way to Spain, Canada, and the US, with suspected cases in at least five other countries.
The BBC reported tests were being carried out on individuals or groups in New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Brazil, Britain and Israel displaying indispositions following travel to Mexico.
The Philippines and Thailand have temporarily banned pork imports from countries with confirmed and suspected flu casualties while their airports -- along with those of Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea and Indonesia -- resorted to thermal scanners last used to detect cases of the SARS virus.
China also rushed Tuesday to return or destroy pork shipments from Mexico and three US states. Stock markets are cautious as a result.
Falling short of elaboration, Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said on Tuesday that the deadly swine flu virus could have been genetically engineered. She had earlier accused Western governments of making and spreading viruses in developing countries to boost pharmaceutical companies' profits.
Since 2006, Indonesia has refused to share all of its bird flu virus samples with WHO researchers, citing fears that the system is being abused by rich countries to produce profitable vaccines, which impoverished nations have to buy.
The fact that the new virus causing an avian-human-swine flu first occurred in Mexico -- where pigs and birds are rarely raised together -- has also raised suspicion that the rare combination of more than two different flu viruses could have been genetically-engineered as a form of bio-weaponry.

Iran finds US-backed MKO fingermarks in riots - English

The terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) has reportedly played a major role in intensifying the recent wave of street violence in Iran.
Iranian security officials reported Saturday that they have identified and arrested a large number of MKO members who were involved in recent riots in Iran's capital.
According to the security officials, the arrested members had confessed that they were extensively trained in Iraq's camp Ashraf to create post-election mayhem in the country.
They had also revealed that they have been given directions by the MKO command post in Britain.
Street protests broke out after defeated presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi rejected President Ahmadinejad's decisive win in the June 12 election. His supporters have staged a series of illegal rallies ever since.
Iran's deputy police commander, on Saturday, warned against the mass gatherings, asserting that those who engage in any such actions would be severely reprimanded.
Earlier on Saturday, MKO leader Maryam Rajavi had supported the recent wave of street violence in Iran during a Saturday address to supporters in Paris.
Rajavi had reportedly described the MKO terrorists as the real winners of the Iranian election.
The Mujahedin Khalq Organization is a Marxist guerilla group, which was founded in the 1960s.In the past two decades, MKO leaders have been resettled in the northern outskirts of Paris.
The terrorists are especially notorious for taking sides with former dictator Saddam Hussein during the war Iraq imposed on Iran (1980-1988).
The group masterminded a slew of terrorist operations in Iran and Iraq -- one of which was the 1981 bombing of the offices of the Islamic Republic Party, in which more than 72 Iranian officials were killed.
A 2007 German intelligence report from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has identified the MKO as a "repressive, sect-like and Stalinist authoritarian organization which centers around the personality cult of [MKO leaders] Maryam and Masoud Rajavi".
Anne Singleton, an expert on the MKO and author of 'Saddam's Private Army' explains that the West aims to keep the group afloat in order to use it in efforts to stage a regime change in Iran.
"With a new Administration in the White House a pre-emptive strike on Iran looks unlikely. Instead the MKO's backers have put together a coalition of small irritant groups, the known minority and separatist groups, along with the MKO. These groups will be garrisoned around the border with Iran and their task is to launch terrorist attacks into Iran over the next few years to keep the fire hot," she explains.
"The role of the MKO is to train and manage these groups using the expertise they acquired from Saddam's Republican Guard," Singleton added.
A May 2005 Human Rights Watch report also condemns the MKO for running prison camps in Iraq and committing human rights violations. According to report, the outlawed group puts defectors under torture and jail terms.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has asked the Judiciary chief to conduct a through investigation into the death of Neda Aqa-Soltan, an Iranian woman who was shot dead in Tehran's post-vote protests.
In a letter to Iran's Judiciary chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi on Monday, Ahmadinejad called for a serious probe into the "suspicious" death of Neda and recognizing elements behind her killing.
"Neda Aqa-Soltan was shot dead in one of Tehran's streets on June 20 by unknown elements in a completely suspicious way," said the president.
"Amid vast propaganda by foreign media and many other evidence about the heartfelt event, it seems definite that opponents of the Iranian nation interfere (in Iran's internal affairs) for their political misuse," he added.
Neda, 26, became a symbol of post-election street rallies in Iran and an international icon in recent days after graphic videos of her death grabbed the attention of world media outlets.
Her death first became suspicious after revelations that she was killed by a small caliber pistol -- a weapon that is not used by Iranian security forces

El-Sherbini, who was nearly four months pregnant, was involved in a court case against her neighbor, Axel W., who was found guilty last November for insulting and abusing the woman, calling her a terrorist.
She was set to testify against him when he stabbed her 18 times inside a Dresden courtroom in front of her 3-year-old son.
El-Sherbini's husband came to her aid but was also stabbed by the neighbor and shot in the leg by a security guard who initially mistook him for the attacker, German prosecutors said. He is now in critical condition in a German hospital.
"The guards thought that as long as he wasn't blond, he must be the attacker so they shot him," the victim's brother told an Egyptian television station.
The 28-year-old Axel W. remains in detention and prosecutors have opened an investigation on suspicion of murder.
The incident has received little coverage in German and Western media, sparking widespread criticism by German Muslim groups as well as Egyptian journalists, who say the incident is an example of how hate crimes against Muslims are overlooked in comparison to those committed by Muslims against Westerners.
Many commentators pointed to the uproar that followed the 2004 murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a Dutch-born Muslim who was infuriated by the portrayal of Muslim women in the Dutch director's film.
Nearly four million Muslims living in Dresden condemned el-Sherbini's killing, expressing concern about the consequences of such terrorist attacks against Muslims.
Steg described the killing as 'a horrible and outrageous act', saying the German government had not reacted earlier as details were hazy in the immediate aftermath of the crime.
