The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has opened its Conference of the States Parties in The Hague.
Top on the agenda is the organization\'s mission to get Syrian chemical stockpiles out of the country by the year-end for final destruction. Meanwhile, Iran\'s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham has said that Iran will actively participate in the conference. She added that as a victim of chemical weapons used by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Iran will be influential in the decisions made by the O-P-C-W. Iran\'s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will also make a speech at the conference on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement. U-S Secretary of State John Kerry says any new sanctions on Iran would send a wrong message to the countries involved in the nuclear negotiations with Tehran.
Kerry made the remarks in a briefing to U-S Congressmen about the recent nuclear deal between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. Kerry said that new sanctions would eventually lead to the removal of all sanctions because the other negotiating partners would not follow suit. He said that decades of sanctions have failed to make any impact on the Iranian nuclear program. He added that President Barack Obama is committed and needs the help of Congress to resolve the nuclear issue, which he called-QUOTE- the most urgent, critical, and pressing. At one point, Kerry also said the military option against Iran is not off the table. But he stated he hopes the Iran nuclear issue can be resolved in less than six months

There\\\'s been a 10% rise in those housed in temporary accommodation and a 6% spike in those forced to sleep rough.Dawn Butler is a Labour politician working in Dawn Butler, west London. As the debate continues about how to alleviate the effects of the growing housing crisis, thousands of families in the capital and throughout the UK will be facing an uncertain future. Spiraling house prices, limited affordable accommodation options and benefits caps have all converged to heap more misery on already over stretched British budgets. The government disputes this stating £190m extra has been allocated to local councils. With a shortfall in available housing and a squeezing of existing budgets, many more families will find themselves without a roof over their heads before the crisis is addressed.

Syrian opposition sources say that hardly any insurgents from the al-Qaeda-affiliated group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant are left in the northern city of Aleppo. The UK based Observatory for Human Rights says ISIL militants withdrew from the Inzarat neighborhood of Aleppo after clashes with militants from the so-called Free Syrian Army and other insurgent groups. The Observatory says the foreign-backed F-S-A had earlier overrun the I-S-I-L\'s headquarters in the city. The bodies of at least 42 people executed by I-S-I-L were reportedly found at the base. Meanwhile, some reports suggest that the ISIL has taken the upper hand against the FSA in the city of Raqqah. The al-Qaeda-linked group is said to be in control of several key positions in the city. A large number of people, including civilians, have been killed during the infighting.

The al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is said to have taken the northern Syrian city of Raqqah following deadly clashes with rival insurgent groups. The extremists have been executing people, preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid and enforcing a strictly fundamental form of what they call Sharia law on areas they\'ve occupied. So how has all this affected the war against President Bashar al Assad and the international support it\'s been getting? Can the upcoming peace conference help resolve the crisis?

Moshe Yaalon later issued a statement in which he apologized to Kerry, saying that he had no intention to cause any offense to the United States\\\' top diplomat. State organizations in Saudi Arabia have desecrated the Holy Qur\'an by discarding over fifty copies in Taif city\'s street sewerage canals.
According to a Saudi official in the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the incident was reported by a local student, who saw the holy books on his way home in Al-Salama district of Taif.
The service company that specializes in opening drainage inlets was then called, and dozens of copies of the Quran were retrieved.
A photo that shows desecrated books has now gone viral on the internet and social media websites.
This is not the first time the Holy Quran has been desecrated in Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, the move by prison officials in Al-Haer province to insult the Holy Book led to protests in different parts of the Kingdom.
The desecration of the holy Quran in a country, which is the birthplace of Islam, has raised eyebrows in the Muslim world.
This week\'s Islam & Life asks: How do certain stories affect the world\'s perception of Saudi Arabia?

An Iraqi channel has aired confessions of members of the militant group, admitting to have relations with Riyadh. In the Afaq TV broadcast, ISIL insurgents also confess to Saudi Arabia\'s role in terrorist attacks in a number of Iraqi provinces. One of the members says a Saudi military official ordered him to carry out several attacks. Iraq has arrested a large number of insurgents during several operations recently. This comes as the Iraqi army and Sunni tribesmen continue their fight against ISIL militants. Iraq is experiencing its worst cycle of violence since 2008, with al-Qaeda-linked militants flexing their muscles on Baghdad\'s doorstep.

John Kerry has said that with support from Moscow, Damascus stonewalled the second round of peace talks in Geneva. He added that such support would let the Syrian president continue destroying his own country. Kerry made the remarks hours after Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem accused Washington of trying to create a very negative climate for dialog in Geneva.
