What does having a pet cat named Mr. Tibbles have to do with marriage in Islam? Well, the short answer is nothing. Whether one has a pet cat or not should not hinder one from the divine prospect of marriage. Similarly, there are many things which Muslims take into account before deciding to marry or when selecting a spouse - the person’s skin colour, how wealthy they are, whether or not they are Sayyid… but are such things what Islam tells us to consider before marrying?
A quick disclaimer; the purpose of this episode is not to say that men should not work hard and strive to earn a halal living while saying, “I’m pious, so let me marry!”. No. It is the duty of Muslim men everywhere to work. Similarly, it is an important duty for us to study and educate ourselves.
The underlying message in this BISKIT is that FAITH ought to be given priority over all other things before we marry. Neither wealth, nor education, nor beauty, nor lineage, nor nationality are even remotely as important as faith. As Muslims we must remember that in front of faith, all the other things are as irrelevant as a pet cat named Mr. Tibbles!

Shaheed Reza fought with the Zainabiyoun brigade in Syria to defend the Shrine of the Bibi Zainab from ISIS and other radical terrorists.
His date of Martyrdom was January 28, 2018. It should be noted that when his body was originally received it had been beheaded and his head was recovered at a later date. His Grave can be found in Beheshte Raza along with those of other Shuhadaa from the Zainabiyoun Brigade near the holy city of Mashhad, Iran.

Have you looked at Ashura from this angle before
Agha Ali Raza Panahiyan
A cartoonist suddenly changes how you look at a phenomenon. A graphic artist changes your outlook all at once. A painter changes your outlook all at once. A photographer changes your outlook all at once. A filmmaker or a maker of documentaries change it in another way.
Before artists have a talent in expressing something, painting, or drawing, they have a talent in how they choose to look at things. These eulogies that you enjoy give you a way of looking and say, “Look from this angle.” You cry and enjoy it. The readers of eulogies and those who read very nice poems…
Have you seen their way of looking at these scenes? What beautiful ways there are of looking at these things, which haven’t been used yet. We are so dependent upon art to change our outlook and to help us find a correct outlook. It is very important how artists look at tragedies. Beauty is created from this. Actually, what makes an artist powerful in conveying his or her own view to others is his or her outlook. Sometimes that outlook itself makes a person an artist.
How do you look at Hazrat Sakinah (‘a)? Have you seen that some girls are like this that they are very cheerful, articulate, honest and frank, even though the people around them may be bothered by what they say. They are very inquisitive and restless. They can’t stop themselves from saying what they want. They bring cheer to any meeting. At any gathering, without doing anything bad, they make the gathering warmer.
Hazrat Sakinah (‘a) is the one, who called out when Imam Husayn (‘a) was near the Alqamah Stream, “Where is my uncle Abbas?” Hazrat Sakinah (‘a) is the one, who called out, “Come down Dad,” when he wanted to go. I think the older people were biting their lips and thinking, “Sakinah don’t say that and don’t break your father’s heart.” She said directly, “Dad, can you take us to Medina first and then go into the battlefield?”
Sakinah is the one who came to her aunt Zaynab and said, “Auntie, whose body is this that you are talking to?” Sakinah talked with her father in such a way that Husayn’s cut throat began to answer her. This girl can’t be quieted. Sakinah is a busy, cheerful, active girl.
From what time on was there no longer any news from her? She had this vibrancy all along the way. They whipped this girl so much that they made her quiet. The other women would hide this vibrant girl in the beginning so that these dishonourable men wouldn’t notice this vibrant girl. I think she changed when three-year-old Ruqayah left this world from the ruins. Sakinah, who helped with the children very much, wasn’t seen to be cheerful anymore.
How do you look at Hazrat Sakinah? She was the vibrant girl whom they made quiet and depressed. I haven’t given you any new information! But, when you put these next to each other, you say, “Yes, that’s true!”
What an opportunity these artists have! How they can play with people’s way of seeing things. This is their job, if they want to and have the ability. If they have a correct outlook, and then God gives them the talent, they can change your and my outlook.
There are still opportunities for new stories to be told about Karbala. There are still opportunities for new images to be drawn about Karbala.

The Last Preparation before the Reappearance of the Saviour
Agha Alireza Panahian 2019
The last preparation needed before the Reappearance is for the managers of the society to be corrected. Because, the Imam of the Time’s (‘a.j.) government and his reappearance involve managing the society. The Imam will not come just to pray. You know this. Do you think if people are unworthy, the Imam will bring angels or 313 people from the sky?
He won’t say, “You don’t need to understand what management is. You don’t need to understand the difference between a good manager and a bad manager at all. I’ll choose a manager for you myself.”
If this is the way it will be, then I’m sorry, but was humankind a plaything up until now?! He could have come sooner. “Be miserable for a while. Now, from today, we have decided for you to be prosperous!” Why do some people think like a cartoon or a legend?! The Imam of the Time’s (‘a.j.) government and his reappearance involve managing the society. If the prophets wanted to take us to Heaven like sheep, they didn’t need to go through so much trouble!
For example, when the people didn’t understand something, the Prophet could have said, “You don’t need to do anything. I’ll fix it myself! Dear Ali, come here tonight so that we can plan! Kill these two. Bring those two. Slap those two! Done!” The next day, “People come to pray. Everything is fixed! Done!”
It’s impossible that we don’t understand what righteous managing is and then 313 righteous managers govern us, and we deserve for them to be our masters!
Once, some people decided to kill the prophet! The trustworthy angel Gabriel exposed them and said, “They’ll come in front of you tonight to kill you.” The Prophet told Hudhayfah and a few other people to come to increase the number of his guards since some wanted to murder him. They increased the number of guards. Those people were exposed and caught.
Hudhayfah said, “O Prophet, we should kill them! They wanted to kill a prophet!” The Prophet (s) said, “No, let them go.” They returned to Medina. Hudhayfah asked, “Shall we kill them now? We’re not in the desert anymore!” The Prophet (s) said, “No.” “At least let’s announce it so that they will be exposed!” “No.” “If they stay, they will do the same thing after you!” The Prophet (s) gave an answer, which in brief was, “People should understand who these are themselves, even without me disclosing them!”
Are we awaiting the Reappearance? The people of the world should realize that these 313 Helpers are the most deserving, even without Imam Mahdi introducing them! Why are they the most deserving?! Why is their behaviour worthy?! Why are others besides them unworthy?! Why is any other method wrong! People should know these things for the Reappearance to happen! This is the needed preparation for the Reappearance.
“If we don’t want to become a manager, must we still understand management?” Yes! That’s it. Otherwise, managers will turn you into a plaything by acting populistic. Do you know when humankind will deserve to have 313 rulers on earth? When they distinguish the difference between just and worthy rulers, and unworthy rulers.

An Attitude, which God Dislikes in People
God has introduced people as being ungrateful and thankless, meaning they are very ungrateful. People are ungrateful beings. If two people are sitting next to each other in a taxi, or in a gathering for breaking the fast, and one asks, “What’s new?” they start to talk ungratefully. They list all the problems, one by one.
Yes, these problems exist. But, praise the Lord, you are healthy, and God has given you a long life with dignity. There is safety and other blessings in society, yet a person states the problems first. The culture of ungratefulness is a culture in which people see the empty half of the glass, even if just the top of the glass is empty.
Such an attitude exists in people. Some people have sunk deeply into this attitude. They get upset, depressed, and angry too. This attitude of being ungrateful has become very ingrained. They consider being ungrateful to be something very serious. You tell them, “Sir! Remember all of your blessings. Be a little happy because of them! Was it good if you had cancer or something now?”
I am coming here after going to visit two people. One was in the hospital and one at home due to accidents. In a moment, a healthy youth was stricken with such a situation. We should thank God. We have gone on trips many times without being hurt. God dislikes this attitude in us very much. In conclusion, if God wants to highlight a fault in people, it’s ungratefulness.
This verse may be strange to you. Many people have never heard it. That’s because they don’t usually make a poster out of this verse. But, you should. It’s an admonishment. It says, “Perish the human! How unthankful he is!” (Qur’an 80:17) People would ask the Messenger of God (s), who was crying all the time, \"Why do you bother yourself so much?\" You are the dearest to God. He’d say, “I’m afraid I won’t thank Him enough.” This means, he worried he may be unthankful.
Our situation is clear! We should evaluate each of our attitudes to see if there is ungratefulness in it. Ungratefulness is like bad weather. It’s like Autumn, which causes the leaves to fall. It’s like a chill, which is very annoying. Ungratefulness definitely accompanies all sins. We have to be very careful of this attitude.

[Clip] God, why do You take it to Yourself | Agha Ali Reza Panahian Dec.04 2019 Farsi Sub English

God, why do You take it to Yourself?
When we go to a doctor and he gives us a prescription for a very fatal disease, if we don’t do what he says, we won’t constantly apologize to the doctor. If we apologize to him once, he’ll say, “This doesn’t have anything to do with me.” He’ll certainly say this. He says, “You don’t need to apologize to me.” But, the Almighty God has brought Himself into the middle of human beings’ lives.
I love you more than your mother does! God has created this world in an orderly manner. Look at the universe. In this world, which God has created orderly, He has given will, authority, and freedom to human beings. This human being makes mistakes and does misdeeds. It’s strange that God has called this sinning. “God, I have ruined myself, ‘I have harmed myself.’ (Qur’an 28:16) I have bothered myself. Why do You take it to Yourself?”
A person has put his hand on a butcher block and cut his fingers with a cleaver. “We have harmed ourselves. When we harm ourselves, why do You somehow take it to Yourself?” Why did the Almighty God make the schedule that He gave us with commands, in such a way that any misdeeds we do in this schedule, are against God’s commands? God says, “If you make these mistakes, you have disobeyed me. When you harm yourself, I get upset with you. The things that are in your favour, I order you to do.” God talks with insistence and fervour. He keeps taking people to Heaven or Hell (in the Qur’an)! His talks are totally promotional. “God why do You do this?!”
He replies, “Don’t you understand why I’m upset? I love you more than your mother!” “God, even if You don’t command me, I still have to do these. Why do You involve Your commands in this?” Isn’t this due to the severity of God’s fondness towards His servants? What other philosophy could it have? What is Holy War (Jihad)? Defend yourself against the enemy. What is ethics? You should have a good behaviour. It’s strange that if we don’t do these, God calls them sins. “You have sinned against My command!” “God, why do You get upset when I beat myself?” Doesn’t this show God’s severe fondness towards us? For example, God forbid, is God a mean king that has said something in general and if you don’t listen, He’ll get upset, rage and punish you severely! It is not like this at all. Why should God need this? It’s only due to the severity of His affection. It doesn’t have any other reason.
A person has put his hand on a butcher block and cut his fingers with a cleaver. “Why do You call these sins?! God, why do You take it to Yourself?!” This is very strange. Doesn’t this show God’s severe affection towards us? I love you more than your mother does!

What does “Kafir” mean? Kafir means a person who denies and hides himself. He understands something is right, but he says, “No, no!” “Why do you say no? Why do you act perversely with yourself? Why do you grapple with yourself?! Why do you lie to yourself?! Why don’t you have mercy on yourself?” This is the meaning of Kafir (unbeliever). What are you covering? What are you concealing? Why do you hide?
Psychoanalysts have a very interesting and hard job. Do you know what one of the things they do to fix people’s spiritual problems is? For example, a person says, “I have such a problem. I am depressed, etc.” or any other such plight. A psychoanalyst listens to see what he thinks and says, “I have to find what his problem is.” So, he says, “First talk about your life.” He starts studying his past. In some cases, a psychoanalyst even says, “You get upset from such a thing.” The person replies, “No, I don’t.” The psychoanalyst’s difficulty starts from here! “How should I prove that you get upset from such a thing? Your smile now shows that you are getting upset.” The person has a problem. The psychoanalyst must talk to this person in a way for him to say, “Ok! Yes, I get upset!” He gets so upset that he might start crying! The psychoanalyst says, “Did you see? Are you better now? Don’t you think you have this other problem too, and this one too that you have hidden?” Why do you hide yourself? Psychologically, an ill person is usually a person who is denying something in himself. They usually call this a psychological complex.
The Qur’an says the same thing about the unbelievers (Kafir), “There is a sickness in their hearts.” (Qur’an 2:10) What kind of sickness does an unbeliever have? He has hidden something. He has hidden a truth. “Hiding the truth is a sign of unbelief.” When a person hides the truth within himself, he is called a Kafir. A Kafir has hidden something in himself in the form of a complex and is sick. What is a sign of his illness? He is jealous. Recite the “Chapter Kafirun” from the Qur’an. “Say: \'O unbelievers! I do not worship what you worship, nor do you worship what I worship; nor will I worship what you have worshiped…’” (Qur’an 109:1-4) You go your own way and we’ll go ours. Drop it and go! Strange! But such a person won’t drop it! “Why don’t you drop it?!”
The Qur’an also says, “Do you know why he doesn’t leave you? He is jealous!” “Why are you jealous? Don’t you say we’re miserable? Don’t you ridicule us? Let us go our own way!” The Qur’an is a very surprising psychology book. It’s fantastic! It says, “The unbelievers envy your devoutness. They like you to be Kafirs too.” You have chosen and we have chosen. Go your own way! No, he knows that you are fortunate. He knows that he is hiding a truth in himself. He knows that you are having fun. He wants to ruin your life to be like his own.
Haven’t you, the mourners of Aba Abdillah al-Husayn (‘a), met people who envy that you go to religious meetings? Has it happened, or not? Answer loudly. When they see you, they nag. If you go to thousands of dance parties or such, they don’t say anything! As soon as you go to a meeting for Imam Husayn (‘a) they say, “Imam Husayn doesn’t need you to cry for him. Go do actions.” Eh! “What if I had gone to a bar?” “Go enjoy.” “Tell me to go enjoy here too!” But in this case, he feels uncomfortable and somehow shows his jealousy. During the 13 day New Year holiday, as many people are killed (in car accidents) as in a war. As many are killed as in a war operation! No one says anything. But, if someone dies on the way to Karbala, they repeat many times, “Everyone’s killed there, or you go for pilgrimage?! They kill our countrymen!” “You are sick. You don’t feel good!” Death happens anywhere. But, when it happens there, they ridicule it. He’s sick.
Do you know why he has become sick? What is mental illness? A person has something, but he denies it. I want to say something strange. Someone has to sit this person down and tell him, “Poor person. You are in love with Husayn (‘a). Don’t deny yourself. Unfortunate person, come. You come too. You are in love with Husayn too. You don’t feel good. Don’t deny it my dear. Be calm. Ok, I don’t want to try to convince you. Be calm. Maybe you will suddenly realize that you are in love with Husayn (‘a) too.” When a person hides a truth within himself, he is called a Kafir (unbeliever).

What is the Coronavirus telling us?
One of the very valuable statements from Imam Baqir (‘a) is a letter he wrote to Sa’d. In the beginning of the letter, the Imam mentions a subject, which is needed by today’s society. “In the Name of God, the Companionate, the Merciful. I advise you to have ‘Taqwa’ (be careful of your duty to Allah). Because, this brings well-being from devastation and benefit when returning (to God).” [Osul Kafi, vol. 8, p. 52] Taqwa saves you from destruction. Your assets won’t be wasted. Your talents won’t be destroyed. It will become something valuable for your Hereafter.
The tradition continues, “Because of their Taqwa, Noah and the ones who were with him (the believers) in the ship were rescued.” Salih and his people were rescued from lightning with Taqwa. What does Taqwa mean? Vigilance. Be careful. That person is a careful person. What do doctors constantly say about this virus that has appeared? Take care. Wash your hands. Don’t kiss others. Be careful not to touch unclean environments. Right? This is taking care. Is it something bad?
Some people are not careful at all. When you remind them and they start being careful, they experience a new feeling. What is the difference between Taqwa and an ordinary being careful? An example of an ordinary being careful is when it’s dark and you touch things carefully and are careful not to bump into anything. This is for when you yourself are taking care of your world. This is like these regular sanitary measures and other ways of taking care. It’s like being careful when driving not to have an accident. This is a minimum amount of being careful. It’s very stylish and beautiful too.
Another kind is for people to be careful about carrying out God’s commands. Being careful in this case is a thousand times more. The Commander of the Faithful, Ali (‘a), said, “Whoever is careful about God’s commands, God will take care of him/her.” The effect of God taking care of us is much more than us taking care of ourselves. Sometimes a person takes care of his greatest benefit. He/she is careful about God’s opinion. This is Taqwa. You are careful like a child who is careful but is in his parent’s embrace. One hundred times more than the child, his father takes care of him not to fall or be injured. If one tries to hit this child, he will bring his hand forward as a shield to protect himself. But, more important than this is the father’s hand, which suddenly comes forward and protects the child.
We should take care for our interests to be protected. Taking care is the first condition to being successful in life. Taking care means paying attention. A pious person is the one who is careful. “Taking care” is something nice and it doesn’t get old. This is not like saying, “You like to be religious, but I don’t!” A doctor is careful. You like a careful and watchful person. God likes such a person too. This is a very chic life.
Then, the tradition continues, “With Taqwa, God protects His servant from whatever does not come to his mind.” Whatever his mind doesn’t understand, God will compensate for him. Imam Baqir (‘a) is mentioning in this tradition whatever doesn’t come to your mind and is hidden from you. How should I know which environment is infected by virus and which environment isn’t. Should I enter it, or not?
One of those who has fallen ill with Coronavirus is putting posts in his page. He said, “I became sick and went to the hospital.” He’s healing now. He said, “No matter how much I think about how I got this virus, nothing comes to my mind.” A person doesn’t understand! But, what if God takes care of a person? What is this virus telling us? It is saying, “Be more careful.” All of life is this. If the most important thing that you want to take care of is God’s satisfaction, God will open the way for you so that you may pass through problems when everyone is stuck in a dead end.
Whoever sees his problems in life have increased should be more careful. He should pray more on time and with more attention. When you are careful about God’s opinion, that He is not ignored, He is not disrespected, and are careful about His command, all of your worldly benefits will be provided better. This is what Imam Baqir (‘a) was saying. We need to be careful in misfortunes. If you want to be saved from this illness or any other fatal problem, you need Taqwa, Taqwa of the tongue, ears, and eyes. Increase this Taqwa and you will clearly see its effects.

How to make disposable gloves from polythene bag
Hi, this is an easy project to make your own pair of gloves from polythene bags.My husband needed some #disposablegloves for going out to do some grocery shopping as they are really short in the market during this #lockdown situation. You can also make these glove from a number of other materials if you\'re super nerdy like us.So do give it a try. They DO come in handy when you have NO OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE. After you are done using these gloves, please dispose of them properly.
remember: Social distancing works, wash your hands, support the frontline.

Sayyed #Nasrallah:
The Zionists targeted a Hezbollah personality in Syria, martyr, Ali Kamal Mohsen. This is part of our \"punishment\" for aiding in Syria. This has left them waiting on the border on a leg and a half. I tell them to keep waiting. Our strategy has not changed.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
What the UAE has done is considered an election promotion for Trump and Netanyahu. Those 2 are losing their popularity. Netanyahu awaits his lawsuit on corruption...
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
We should not be surprised if more countries sign such treaties. Trump will milk those countries of their honor and dignity for the sake of his troubled friend, Netanyahu, the same way he milked them of their money before.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Those countries will do anything to please America, and America says, \"Please israel and we are satisfied.\"
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
This act is strongly condemned. It is a betrayal to Islam and Arabism. But I tell the Palestinians and the people of the Resistance not to feel distraught, for those hypocrites need to be exposed. \"Lest you hate a thing when it is good for you.\"
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
There were several theories on the causes of the Beirut explosion. One being that it was a planned attack, and the other being that it was a result of negligence and irresponsibility.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Many theories were raised, but the mere fact of leaving fireworks and other flammable material in this manner is negligence, but also a crime!
Sayyed #Nasrallah:
Many were quick to blame Hezbollah and accuse us of knowing that israel was planning this. They claimed that we knew and that we would not respond had this been an attack. Hezbollah would not leave an attack on a single person, let alone an attack this enormous
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
If israel really was behind this incident, then the participation of the FBI in the investigations will be for the sake of covering up any evidence against israel. We are Lebanese too, and we do not trust the FBI. The Lebanese people need answers.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
If this was a planned attack, whoever planned it was not betting on the attack itself, but on its outcome. There was a huge campaign aiming to overthrow the entire system.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
At the time the Lebanese people needed every bit of help they could get, the media immediately took advantage of the situation to feed their agendas, push for a civil war, overthrow the presidency, parliament, and entire system.
Sayyed #Nasrallah:
There were certain political groups in Lebanon, serving foreign agendas, who working hard on igniting strife. They cannot expect someone with a history like president Aoun, who did not surrender before threats of getting his house bombed, to simply surrender now.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
I have to thank PM Hassan Diab and every minister in his council who agreed on taking on the responsibility despite all the odds and remaining firm despite all the obstacles.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The coming government should be supported by all political parties. Its priorities should be reform, rebuilding after the port explosion, electricity, environment, public schools, the economic crisis...
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
The government should insist on the investigations in the port explosion.
This government cannot be a neutral one. All of us understand the reality of the Lebanese society. We do not believe in the existence of a neutral individual in Lebanon.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Anyone calling for a neutral government is only trying to waste time. We all know what works and doesn\'t work in the country. Anyways, I am only putting this out there for the people to know.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
Those (members of parliament) who resigned during those difficult times dared to throw accusations at the ones who chose to still carry their responsibilities.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
If you want to abandon your responsibilities, quit politics. You cannot weasel out now and abandon your responsibilities when it is your policies that led the country to its current situation.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
There was a huge campaign targeted at the people of the Resistance. I tell you all to remain patient. Remain furious, but remain patient, for we might need this rage one day.
Sayyed #Nasrallah:
On the 18th, the ICJ will issue its judgment (on the Rafiq Hariri assassination case). We do not acknowledge this court & if they were to blame any of our personnel, we will back them up because we insist of their innocence. We need to remain patient at those times.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
At the end, I want to stress on the importance of abiding by all the necessary measures and instructions that have to do with the coronavirus. The situation is getting worse and our hospitals cannot withstand the pressure.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah:
We never know what might happen in the future or what new events might occur in the Zionist entity. Some would claim that Hezbollah is worried or perplexed. We are calm, collected, and certain of everything.
Sayyed Hassan #Nasrallah
speaking of the nature of the Ashura commemoration, avoiding gatherings, and ensuring social distancing.

In part five we review the third verse of Surah al-Mujadilah: Whoever does not find (means to do that), let him fast two (lunar) months consecutively before they, (the spouses), touch each other. And he who is not able to do so, (his penance shall be) to feed sixty destitute ones. This is in order that you perfect your faith in Allāh and His Messenger (so that you believe in the truth of whatever Allāh has enjoined and His Messenger conveyed to you, and live accordingly). These are the bounds of Allāh. And for the unbelievers there is a painful punishment.

Some imagine and try to paint a false picture that our fourth infallible Imam - Imam Sajjad (A) - simply shed tears and performed worship of Allah while sitting in the corner of his house or masjid. He had no socio-political involvement.
The reality is contrary to that! Imam Sajjad (A) actively performed his responsibilities as an Infallible Imam and was hence poisoned by the enemies of Islam. Just like other Imams, he became a serious threat for the oppressors and they had no other option to poison and martyr our Imam.
The Leader, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, highlights some of those divine duties performed by Imam Sajjad (A).

Who is Imam Hassan ?
Name : Hasan
Title : Al-Mujtaba
Kunyat : Abul Muhammad
Born : Tuesday, 15th Ramadan 3 AH at Medina
Father\'s Name : Ali ibne abu Talib
Mother\'s Name : Fatima (Daughter of the Holy Prophet)
Died : at the age of 46 years, at Medina, on Thursday, 28th Safar, 50 AH.
Buried - at the cemetery of Jannat-ul-Baqi in Medina
Al-Ḥasan ibn Alī ibn Abī Ṭālib (Arabic: الحسن ابن علي ابن أبي طالب, 624–670 CE), commonly known as Hassan or Hassan, is the eldest son of Ali and Muhammad\'s daughter Fatimah, and is the older brother of Hussain. Muslims respect him as a grandson of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Among Shia Muslims, Hasan is revered as the second Imam
The early sources are nearly in agreement that Hasan was poisoned by his wife, Ja\'da bint al-Ash\'at, at the instigation of Muawiyah and died in the year 670 CE. Madelung and Donaldson further relate other versions of this story, suggesting that Al-Hasan may have been poisoned by another wife, the daughter of Suhayl ibn ‘Amr, or perhaps by one of his servants, citing early historians such as Al-Waqidi and Al-Mada\'ini. Madelung believes that the famous early Islamic historian al-Tabari suppressed this tale out of concern for the faith of the common people. Al-Hasan is said to have refused to name his suspect to Al-Husayn, for fear that the wrong person would be killed in revenge. He was 38 years old when he abdicated the reign to Mu‘awiyah, who was 58 years old at the time. This difference in age indicates a serious obstacle for Mu‘awiyah, who wanted to nominate his son Yazid as his heir-apparent. This was unlikely due to the terms on which Al-Hasan had abdicated to Mu‘awiyah; and considering the big difference in age, Mu‘awiyah would not have hoped that Al-Hasan would naturally die before him. Hence, Mu‘awiyah would naturally be suspected of having a hand in a killing that removed an obstacle to the succession of his son Yazid
