The arrest warrant must be approved by a court first. Prosecutors say Samsung paid nearly 34-point-five million dollars to institutions backed by Park\'s former confidante, Choi Soon-sil, in exchange for the national pension fund\'s support for a 2015 merger of two Samsung affiliates. Samsung has acknowledged providing funds to the institutions, but has denied accusations of lobbying to push through the merger. President Park was impeached by the country’s parliament in December for corruption and abuse of power. She has rejected all allegations as lies and a set-up.
