Movie - The Battle of Khaybar - The Victory of Ali - Arabic sub English. A short film depicting the conquest of the Fort of Khaybar by the Muslim Army, led by the Holy Prophet and Imam Ali. After the failure of Abu Bakr and Umar to succeed in conquering the fort, the banner of Islam fell to Ali, who single handedly killed Marhab, the chief of the Jews, and then went on to slay Harith, the commander of the Jews. After the death of the two "lions" of the Jewish tribe, the fortress the Jews had been hiding behind was conquered and the Muslims were victorious. It was the courage of Ali, instilled in him due to his immense and unswerving faith in Allah which brought the Muslims victory, it was in this battle that the Prophet announced that the fortress of Khaybar would be conquered by a man whom Allah and His apostle love dearly, it was in this battle that the Prophet of Islam cured the eye ailment of Ali with his own spit, it was in this battle that the Companions of the Prophet remained awake all night yearning to receive the banner of Islam from the Prophet, only to have their hopes shattered when the Prophet called out "Where is Ali, bring Ali to me". It was in this battle that Ali manifested the strength endowed upon him by Allah and tore through the ranks of the Jews, killing those who challenged him and inflicting awe into those who fled from him, leaving none with the strength to stand in front of him on the battlefield, as Ali himself says "I swear by Allah that whoever approaches me in battle shall not leave the battlefield alive, and whoever does shall not have the courage to return and face me". Read more about the battle here: http://www.imamreza.net/eng/imamreza.php?id=3046 The Hadiths from Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 520 and Number 521 prove the victory occurred at the hand of Ali, and NONE but Ali, with the power of Allah. Read the Hadiths from Sahih Bukhari here: http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/bukhari/059.sbt.html#005.059.520 "Narrated Salama: Ali remained behind the Prophet during the Ghazwa of Khaibar as he was suffering from eye trouble. He then said, "(How can) I remain behind the Prophet ," and followed him. So when he slept on the night of the conquest of Khaibar, the Prophet said, "I will give the flag tomorrow, or tomorrow the flag will be taken by a man who is loved by Allah and His Apostle, and (Khaibar) will be conquered through him, (with Allah's help)" While every one of us was hopeful to have the flag, it was said, "Here is 'Ali" and the Prophet gave him the flag and Khaibar was conquered through him (with Allah's Help)." "Narrated Sahl bin Sad: On the day of Khaibar, Allah's Apostle said, "Tomorrow I will give this flag to a man through whose hands Allah will give us victory. He loves Allah and His Apostle, and he is loved by Allah and His Apostle." The people remained that night, wondering as to who would be given it. In the morning the people went to Allah's Apostle and everyone of them was hopeful to receive it (i.e. the flag). The Prophet said, "Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?" It was said, "He is suffering from eye trouble O Allah's Apostle." He said, "Send for him." 'Ali was brought and Allah's Apostle spat in his eye and invoked good upon him. So 'Ali was cured as if he never had any trouble. Then the Prophet gave him the flag. 'Ali said "O Allah's Apostle! I will fight with them till they become like us." Allah's Apostle said, "Proceed and do not hurry. When you enter their territory, call them to embrace Islam and inform them of Allah's Rights which they should observe, for by Allah, even if a single man is led on the right path (of Islam) by Allah through you, then that will be better for you than the nice red camels. Although a new study has doubled the US war costs, it does not account for the enormous subsequent expenses for the injured troops, a US analyst says.
"The cost of taking care of [the injured troops] … has not really been taken into account seriously, either by economists or by political figures in the United States," historian and investigative journalist Gareth Porter told Press TV on Thursday.
The new study, conducted by the Nobel Prize winner for economics Joseph Stiglitz and Harvard University Professor Linda Bilmes, shows that the long-term costs of the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq doubles initial estimates, suggesting the revised six-trillion-dollar figure.
The analyst also warned that "the institutional interests of the military itself [is] so enormous that the [US] military is absolutely determined to avoid an end to this war any time soon."
Porter called on the people and the politicians in the United States to take action to make their government bring the wars to an end.

Wars could cost over $4 trillion
Authors of the book The Three Trillion Dollar War now estimate that the total cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could top $4 trillion over time. A lagging economy, increases in the cost of medical care, higher than expected expenditures on post-combat medical and psychiatric care, and a surge in disability benefits are likely to place a significant strain on the federal budget.
House Veterans Affairs Chairman, Bob Filner (D-California), stated:
"This may be more of a crisis than the Medicare and Social Security problems we have looming...It rivals both in the potential impact. This is another entitlement we've committed ourselves to, and it could break the bank."
Filner aims on utilizing the latest cost estimates to propose a "veterans trust fund" to pay for the long-term war expenses, a proposal that has so far found minimal support in the Democratic-led House due to the startling price tag associated with it.
Having already blown past original cost projections, combat operations alone in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan have cost nearly $1.1 trillion in nine years. With well over 30,000 maimed for life, a PTSD epidemic, and record suicide rates (in the military), an estimated price tag of at least $4 trillion over the next several years appears to be reasonable.
As a result, those who claim to be fiscally conservative should take a long hard look at the immense cost of open-ended, overseas wars, especially at a time when America could be facing a debt crisis in the not-too-distant future. Vague objectives, shifting benchmarks, imprecise definitions of victory, and unclear exit strategies inevitably lead to costs that far exceed initial budget estimates.
In addition, those who claim to espouse a more progressive, anti-war stance should take a long hard look at the current war policy, as the trillions being spent could be better invested in infrastructure, health care, education, alternative energy, and other domestic programs. Perhaps the strategy of electing leaders who espouse peace, fiscal responsibility, and change in U.S. foreign policy, yet intensify wars, spend even more on the military, and adopt much of their despised opponents' previous platform, should be more critically examined.

Western attitude towards women must be challenged (2011/05/22 - 20:48)
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with hundreds of Iranian women scholars and top personalities said Islam views women as master of family, adding that the Islamic system must do more to fully revive the genuine, Islamic status of women in society and family.
Ayatollah Khamenei in the meeting which was held on Sunday on the eve of the birth anniversary of Hadhrat Fatema Zahra (S.A.) and the day of women, congratulated the auspicious day and said the gathering of large number of women intellectuals shows the Iranian women were moving towards the apex of perfection and that the Islamic system has succeeded to raise intellectual women who hold their own opinion concerning different social issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei said problems of the world today stemmed largely from the west\'s wrong attitude towards the status of women in society and family and that the wrong attitude has triggered a crisis.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the west has established an unfair equation in society under which the men are the beneficiary and the women are the benefit, and based on the equation, the women must act in such ways as to satisfy the beneficiary. \"This is the most immense oppression ever against women,\" the IR Leader said.
The IR Leader touched on an organized and gradual drive by the west to instill the nations with such wrong ideas as to status of women, and that to the same effect, if someone moves to condemn such behaviors that are fed by female attractions, he or she would be treated with western media\'s hue and cry.
Ayatollah Khamenei said another outcome of the western oppressive attitude towards women is its open objection to Hijab. \"The west claims that Hijab is a religiously-motivated issue and must not be allowed to appear in atheist societies however its true motivation for that objection is that Hijab challenges its strategic policy in seeking women promiscuity,\" the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that based on official reports of relevant global centers, the western attitude towards women has led to a fragile familial structure, speedy growth of shameful trade in women and the phenomenon of illegitimately-born children. He said the Islamic Republic should expressly and relentlessly challenge the western ideas concerning women and meet its responsibility in defending the true status of women.
As to status of women in the country, Ayatollah Khamenei said a legal lever was needed in order to materialize the Islamic views concerning women and family, adding that despite all good works done since the Islamic Revolution (1979), there were still many deficiencies as to how women must be treated in family.
\"The family environment must become a safe, dignified and tranquil one for women so that they could do their best in fulfilling their main task which is to care the family,\" Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also said the issue of women and family would be set as topic of discussion and research in the seminars on strategic thoughts in the Islamic Republic of which two seminars have already been staged in the presence of the IR Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the intellectual women to join the seminar, adding that the women-related issue must be studied and tackled based on Islamic teachings and the findings must be followed in future planning.
Meanwhile, in the meeting, 10 intellectual women figures expressed their views concerning different cultural, social and political issues.

Al-Nebras (The Lantern) is a greatly anticipated motion picture film masterfully depicting various events and occurrences in the remarkable life of Imam Ali (as). The film sheds immense light on the prominent role Imam Ali occupied during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet (saw) as well as comprehensively highlighting the pivotal and fundamental position he held in regards to the Islamic Message.
The highly captivating film, which artistically recreates a number of scenes from the council meeting (Shura) of the election of Uthman ibn Affan to the military expeditions embarked upon under the command of the Holy Prophet as well as the momentous occasion which unfolded on the plains of Ghadir presents numerous dimensions of Imam Ali\'s matchless and unparalleled personality and attributes which shook the very foundation of disbelief and awoke the hearts of the faithful from the slumber of this world.
For the virtues of Imam Ali are like that of no other, they are innumerable, insurmountable and his distinctions over others are such that he surpasses all near him like the sun does to a candle in the midst of the day. From birth he was under the unique tutelage and mentorship of the best of creation and the most beloved to Allah, the Holy Prophet, and as a youth there was none greater in zeal than him in propagating the call to the one true God. On the battlefield his bravery and courage new no boundaries, and in the mosque his worship was a sight of true marvel. His certainty in Allah was unshakeable and his piety was a source of guidance to all. In administering justice there was none more just than him, and in knowledge, he was more precious than a fountain of treasure. Through his exemplary characteristics he has opened for us the doors of success, and by his unyielding efforts in the way of Allah he has handed down the banner of righteousness, for all those willing to uphold it...

A political analyst says Bahrainis have not lost determination to carry on with demonstrations against the Al Khalifa regime despite its \'immense pressure on the livelihood\' of the people.
Amnesty International has called for the release of \'prisoners of conscience\' held in Bahrain\'s prisons.
Bahrainis have been staging demonstrations since mid-February 2011, demanding political reform and a constitutional monarchy, a demand that later changed to an outright call for the ouster of the ruling Al Khalifa family following its crackdown on popular protests.
Press TV has interviewed Kamel Wazne, a political analyst from Beirut about this issue.

More instability in Lebanon. From the north in Tripoli to the south in Sidon and now to the heart of Beirut\'s southern suburbs.
A massive car bomb explosion rocked the south of the Lebanese capital causing dozens of injuries and immense material damage. The booby tracked car was parked in the parking lot of a shopping mall.
This area which was targeted is a civilian area. Over there you have a shopping mall where people go and buy their goods and you also have civilian buildings. So what is clear is that this attack was aimed at causing a state of terror and fear amongst the civilians.

Will the United States lift its illegal unilateral sanctions on Iran? Well, it seems like it won\'t unless Washington stops listening to Israel. But who is mainly affected by the sanctions? Reports from Iran\'s health sector show cancer patients and hemophiliacs are hurt far more than the country\'s nuclear program. The sanctions have hindered Iran\'s international financial transactions. And that has made the importation of vital medicines extremely difficult. The country\'s pharmaceutical industry is also unable to produce those medicines because of a shortage of raw materials. But after the latest round of nuclear talks with Iran, the United States hinted that it\'s ready to ease the pressure. However, Washington is under immense pressure from Israel and Saudi Arabia not to lift its illegal embargo, which is hurting ordinary Iranian citizens.

While in a meeting with families belonging to those martyred on June 28th and military advisers martyred, in a battle against ISIS, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated the following: In an asymmetrical war, which has been launched against Iran, the immense power that arises from belief in God and jihad is not understood by the enemy. They created ISIS to defeat the Islamic Republic of Iran: Iraq and the region of Levant were prefaces staged to bring Iran down; however, the power of the Islamic Republic brought them down. One who fights in the name of defending the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)- who is actually defending his society or city is defending Iran.
On another note, Ayatollah Khamenei made the following observations regarding conflict in Bahrain: “In Bahrain there is an authoritarian and egotistic minority oppressing a majority. And now they are attacking the perseverant and knowledgeable scholar Sheikh Isa Qassim; this is blatant foolishness and insanity. Sheikh Isa is the type of man who would prevent extremist tactics. Therefore, these illogical individuals do not understand that by removing Sheikh Isa Qassim they are removing obstacles from the Bahraini, enthusiastic, youth against the regime. Now, no obstacle can prevent these young enthusiasts from rising up.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated: “Whenever and wherever we relied on the revolutionary spirit we progressed. Whenever we withdrew from our values and suppressed our voice, to please the imperialist powers, we remained undeveloped. The path towards progress is reviving the revolutionary spirit and striving for the sake of God.”

[22 August 2019] SIPRI chief tells PressTV Iran deal will survive US pressure - English

Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) says the 2015 Iran nuclear deal is likely to survive despite immense economic and political pressure by the United States against Iran and five other signatories of the landmark agreement.
Dan Smith, whose organization hosted Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his Sweden visit on Wednesday, said Washington – under President Donald Trump – was undermining an accord that was enshrined in a United Nations Security Council Resolution.
“I think what is clear is that the Trump administration has clearly rejected an agreement his predecessor came to, which is actually part of a UN Security Council Resolution that is binding upon all member-states,” Smith told Press TV on Wednesday.
“So it is questionable as to whether the United States legally has the right to withdraw from the agreement,” Smith continued.
He also pointed out Zarif’s second biggest gripe over Europeans’ inability to deliver their end of the bargain by protecting trade against US sanction.

As we enter the week of the anniversary of the Sacred Defense (دفاع مقدس), let\'s understand that despite the fact that we incurred human loss and financial loss, the gains and benefits of this US imposed war on Iran - back in 1980 - overshadow the losses. This is a lesson for us today. If we wish to live with dignity, we need to defend ourselves and our generations against the plots and schemes of the enemies. We may, at times, incur material losses in this process; but rest assured the long term benefits of this resistance are immense. This is the lesson of the valuable martyrs of the Sacred Defence. The Leader Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei states this fact.
