A new report suggests Pakistani government officials have for years secretly endorsed the U-S drone campaign in their country.
The report published by the Washington Post is based on leaked secret C-I-A documents and Pakistani diplomatic memos. It says Pakistani officials routinely obtained classified briefings despite their condemnations of the drone strikes. The files describe dozens of attacks in Pakistan\'s tribal region during 2007 and 2011. They include maps as well as aerial photographs of the targeted areas taken before-and-after the attacks. Former Pakistani premier Yousuf Raza Gilani has vehemently denied giving the U-S the approval. This comes as the current Pakistani prime minister urges the U-S president to end the attacks. Nawaz Sharif has warned that drone attacks could undermine ties between the two countries.

Pakistan\'s interior minister says the government plans to put former military ruler Parviz Musharraf on trial for treason.
Musharraf would be the first military ruler tried for treason in a country that has experienced three military coups in its 66-year history. He could face the death penalty if convicted of treason for declaring a state of emergency while in power. Musharraf has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Musharraf was forced to step down in 2008 after ruling for about a decade and left the country shortly afterwards. He returned to Pakistan in March to run in the national elections in May, but was disqualified. Musharraf had been held under house arrest for months and was freed earlier this month after he received bail in four other cases, including the investigation of the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Nusaybin district of Mardin in the east of the country is where the Turkish government is constructing a controversial 2-metre high wall widely believed to block cross-border relations between Syrian and Turkish Kurds. Nusaybin is a pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party stronghold. Many believe the wall that borders Qamishli in northern Syria is a project that provokes anti-Kurdish sentiment, as Qamishli is controlled by the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party.

Takfiri groups fighting the Syrian government forces have abducted more than 50 Kurds, among them children in the past three days.
The kidnapping took place in the towns of Minbej and Jarablus in the northern province of Aleppo. This comes weeks after Kurdish fighters pushed out the Takfiri groups from the region. There has been a fierce battle between the two sides over the control of the region in the past three months. In July, the militants kidnapped some 200 Kurdish civilians in the town of Tal Aran and Tal Hassel in Aleppo. Only a few of the hostages have been released since then.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague says the extremists fighting against the Syrian government pose a threat to Europe. The warning comes as a fierce battle is underway between the Syrian army and al-Qaeda affiliated groups, whose ranks have been swollen by an influx of thousands of foreign militants in recent months.
Hague made the remarks at the opening of the Manama Dialog on security, weeks ahead of an international peace conference on Syria. Foreign nationals operating alongside al-Qaeda militants in Syria have stated that the United States and Britain will be their next targets. Ironically, the insurgents have enjoyed logistic and financial support from some Western and regional countries.

Japan revises down its growth rate as the economy slows down more than the government initially estimated for the third quarter of 2013.
Tokyo had initially predicted a 0.5 percent growth for the three months to September, but now it has revised it down to 0.3. This as, in the previous quarter, the east Asian country had seen a 0.9 percent growth. Many say the downward revision is mostly due to a downturn in corporate capital spending.
