Recite \"Chapter Hamd” in Prayer!
A tradition says, “When a servant stands up to pray, if his desires and heart are with God (while praying) - meaning that he keeps his mind on this and finishes his prayer in that way - he will become pure like the day he was born from his mother.”
Recite “Chapter Hamd” in prayer. Is it possible to pray and not recite Chapter Hamd? It means recite Chapter Hamd in prayer with attentiveness. You’ll be reborn. “All praise belongs to God, Lord of the Universe, the Beneficent, the Merciful.” (Qur’an 1:1-2) Whenever I say “the Beneficent, the Merciful,” I think, “See. It said ‘the Beneficent, the Merciful’ a moment ago. Now, again it’s saying, ‘the Beneficent, the Merciful.’”
“In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. All praise belongs to God, Lord of the Universe, the Beneficent, the Merciful.” God, You insist very much that I see Your Mercy. Why do You say, “Look at My Mercy” this much?”
“and Master of the Day of Judgment.” “The Beneficent, the Merciful (is the) Master of the Day of Judgment.” So, don’t be afraid. God, I’ve said, “The Beneficent, the Merciful (is the) Master of the Day of Judgment.” Now, will You punish me there? You Yourself said to say, ““The Beneficent, the Merciful (is the) Master of the Day of Judgment.”
“(Lord), You alone we do worship.” God says, “I only help the one who seeks assistance from Me.” “And from You alone we do seek assistance.” God says, “Ok, I have to help you since you said, ‘Only You.’”
“(Lord), guide us to … the path of those to whom You have granted blessings,” the path of Ali (‘a) to whom You have given so many blessings. “… those who are neither subject to Your anger...”
It is as if “Chapter Hamd” is reciting a eulogy. Similarly, when people who usually go to religious eulogies go to Hajj, they have a lot to say and they do the circumambulation beautifully. Especially when these people do the walking between “Safa” and “Marwah”, they really enjoy it. They walk where Hajar walked and read eulogies (in poems), “When did my Ali Asghar start talking?!” They say this as they walk and cry. Such people know what to say. Others don’t know what to say. Others say, “Which supplication should we recite now?”
But, these people read eulogies even when reciting Chapter Hamd. God has said this Himself in this chapter. “…those who are neither subject to Your anger…” Don’t take me on the path of the murderers of Imam Husayn with whom You are angry. Don’t take me on the path of those who slapped the face of Hazrat Fatimah Zahra (‘a). You hate them. Separate me from them.
This is the high point of the “Kumayl Supplication” too. The high point of the Kumayl Supplication is where it says, “Do You want to put me in the same place with Your enemies.” Even if I tolerate Your torment, how can I tolerate them?!
“…those who are neither subject to Your anger…” is the peak of the Kumayl Supplication. The supplication first moans because of the torment, then it says, “Fine. If I tolerate this, how can I tolerate that?”
I ask God that you can pray with attentiveness.

Training Children in a Magnanimous Way
Train your children with generosity. Train your children with magnanimity. If they make any mistakes, call them to account a bit later. Or, not at all is even better.
Ayatollah Bahjat’s son said, “When my father wanted to tell us something, he would tell a story and we had to think about it to understand what he meant. Sometimes after a few days, we would think, ‘Maybe he had meant this.’ After a few more days, we would realize, ‘Aha! He was saying this.’” This was his habit. This is the result of having “Taqwa (Piety)!” See how beautiful a person becomes.
His son said, “In the last days of his life, sometimes he talked about the good death of people. Then, we realized he was readying us for his death. ‘Death is nothing! It’s just like sleeping. When a person gets tired, he sleeps.’ Since I knew my father very well, I understood that he was informing us about his leaving. He wouldn’t talk directly. He would tell a story and we had to think about it to understand what he meant.
Once, he told this story, ‘An honourable scholar lived with his son in one room. That scholar told his son, “Shall we put up a curtain in the middle of the room, so that there will be modesty between us?” How modest people were before. These stories are amazing.’ I heard this story. I wondered why he suddenly remembered this story. I had to think about what he wanted to say! Then, I thought since it had been a while that I had to sleep in his room due to his infirmity, maybe he meant that I have to put up a curtain. I put up a curtain in the room when he had gone to teach. Later, I asked him, ‘I have put up a curtain here. Is it good?’ He showed his satisfaction.”
This is how it becomes. This is so beautiful! O God! It’s very beautiful to live like this. For you to treat your child as a person too, don’t call him to account whenever he does something wrong. Also, don’t encourage him whenever he does something good. Let him stand on his own feet. Always be kind to him.
“You’re saying we shouldn’t encourage our child?!” Always encourage him. Say, “I will always buy you ice cream!” Train your children with magnanimity. Raise them to be magnanimous, so that they will be magnanimous from their childhood.
There is no god, except Allah. Shall we talk about Karbala? The commander of the cursed Yazid said, “You won’t punish me if I say something? I want to say something good about Husayn’s (‘a) family.” He replied, “Say it.” The commander asked, “Am I safe? On the way, we whipped and harassed Husayn’s children very much. But, Husayn’s children didn’t say any bad words to us even once. He has trained his family well.”
You have to behave with your children in the same way! This is a method. Learn this method!

A Hundred Times More Affectionate
God divided affection into 100 parts. He kept 99 parts for Himself and gave one part to people. He divided that one part into 100 pieces and gave 99 parts of it to the “Guardians.” He gave one part to all the people who are living together affectionately. For example, affectionate people are mothers towards their children.
We sometimes become worried for a mother whose child, for example, has been killed or tortured in front of her. If such a story gets into the news or social media today, the entire world will discuss it. They say, “See how brutally they have killed a child in front of his or her mother.”
How much does a mother love her child? How much does the Imam of the Time (‘a.j.) love his nation? It is obvious that they can’t be compared. So aren’t the massacres that happen in the world sorrowful for the Imam? Those who cry for the absence and loneliness of the Imam of the Time (‘a.j.) haven’t done anything special. This is very natural. Because they are crying for a heart, which is full of sympathy. It is full of sympathy for even all the mothers of the world. They cry for the heart, which is broken.
The affection of the Imam for one person is 100 times more than the affection of a mother for her beloved child. If a tragedy or oppression happens in a corner of the world, isn’t this a huge incident for that kind heart? If a person is not so selfish, he’ll see it’s more important than our own concerns. More important than all the concerns I have in my life, are his concerns. There is no news more important than the news about the Imam of the Time (‘a.j.) in the world. There is no sorrow above the sorrow of Sayyid al-Shuhada (‘a) in this world for a person to care about.
Some people’s love for the “Guardians from God” has reached to where all their concerns are them. Their concern is, “What situation are the ‘Friends of God’ in now?” The reappearance of the Imam of the Time (‘a.j.) has been realized in some people’s hearts. The Imam governs their hearts. Here we should say, “Hazrat Mahdi (‘a.j.) has appeared in our hearts. “
Some people’s love for the “Guardians from God” has reached to where all their concerns are them.

[Clip] Why is this world so attractive for us, but Heaven isn’t | Agha Ali Reza Panahian | Dec.11, 2019 Farsi Sub Engl

Why is this world so attractive for us, but Heaven isn’t?
My friends, the world entices us, right? What element of the world entices a person? Tell me, what causes us to become interested in this world and not pay attention to the Hereafter?
“Heaven doesn’t entice us, but the world does.” Answer me. “Entertainments.” There are better entertainments in Heaven. It’s accessible now, right? How many of you agree? It’s accessible now. Believe me; it would take 10 sessions for me to make it clear for you that the accessibility of the world doesn’t attract a person!
Because, each flower in the world has terrible thorns that only ruin a person’s mood. You should look at this world correctly, this accessible world. Eating causes an unpleasantness that we’re not willing to mention in the meeting. You would stop eating. You won’t enjoy sleeping, which is like dying, anymore. Don’t talk about the world being accessible. Being accessible is ineffective. “Since the Hereafter is on credit, it doesn’t attract us.” Look! It’s just us talking here. Lying has a limit. You know how young, unmarried people think about marriage. They think, “Wow! There’ll be a lot going on in the future.”
The enjoyment from our imaginings is more than the actuality. Therefore, the accessibility of the world is not attracting you. The Hereafter being on credit doesn’t push you away. What’s the problem? Remembering the world ruins us. The accessibility of the world doesn’t ruin us! Its memory ruins us. Remembering the accessible world makes us interested in it. Will we become interested in the Hereafter without remembering it?!
Make remembering the Hereafter a part of your life. Then, see if the accessible world affects you. I swear, it won’t have an effect. What should we do to remember the Hereafter more? Imam Baqir (‘a) said, “Recite at least 50 verses of the Qur’an every day. Recite it at 14 different times, don’t recite it once and put it aside.” Basically, the Qur’an is a book, which reminds of the Hereafter. It takes a person to Heaven or Hell in each moment, and brings him or her back.
What causes us to keep our distance from the Hereafter? Not remembering it. The Qur’an is the best program. Remembering the world ruins us. Make remembering the Hereafter a part of your life. Then, see if the accessible world affects you. I swear, it won’t have an effect.

What does “Kafir” mean? Kafir means a person who denies and hides himself. He understands something is right, but he says, “No, no!” “Why do you say no? Why do you act perversely with yourself? Why do you grapple with yourself?! Why do you lie to yourself?! Why don’t you have mercy on yourself?” This is the meaning of Kafir (unbeliever). What are you covering? What are you concealing? Why do you hide?
Psychoanalysts have a very interesting and hard job. Do you know what one of the things they do to fix people’s spiritual problems is? For example, a person says, “I have such a problem. I am depressed, etc.” or any other such plight. A psychoanalyst listens to see what he thinks and says, “I have to find what his problem is.” So, he says, “First talk about your life.” He starts studying his past. In some cases, a psychoanalyst even says, “You get upset from such a thing.” The person replies, “No, I don’t.” The psychoanalyst’s difficulty starts from here! “How should I prove that you get upset from such a thing? Your smile now shows that you are getting upset.” The person has a problem. The psychoanalyst must talk to this person in a way for him to say, “Ok! Yes, I get upset!” He gets so upset that he might start crying! The psychoanalyst says, “Did you see? Are you better now? Don’t you think you have this other problem too, and this one too that you have hidden?” Why do you hide yourself? Psychologically, an ill person is usually a person who is denying something in himself. They usually call this a psychological complex.
The Qur’an says the same thing about the unbelievers (Kafir), “There is a sickness in their hearts.” (Qur’an 2:10) What kind of sickness does an unbeliever have? He has hidden something. He has hidden a truth. “Hiding the truth is a sign of unbelief.” When a person hides the truth within himself, he is called a Kafir. A Kafir has hidden something in himself in the form of a complex and is sick. What is a sign of his illness? He is jealous. Recite the “Chapter Kafirun” from the Qur’an. “Say: \'O unbelievers! I do not worship what you worship, nor do you worship what I worship; nor will I worship what you have worshiped…’” (Qur’an 109:1-4) You go your own way and we’ll go ours. Drop it and go! Strange! But such a person won’t drop it! “Why don’t you drop it?!”
The Qur’an also says, “Do you know why he doesn’t leave you? He is jealous!” “Why are you jealous? Don’t you say we’re miserable? Don’t you ridicule us? Let us go our own way!” The Qur’an is a very surprising psychology book. It’s fantastic! It says, “The unbelievers envy your devoutness. They like you to be Kafirs too.” You have chosen and we have chosen. Go your own way! No, he knows that you are fortunate. He knows that he is hiding a truth in himself. He knows that you are having fun. He wants to ruin your life to be like his own.
Haven’t you, the mourners of Aba Abdillah al-Husayn (‘a), met people who envy that you go to religious meetings? Has it happened, or not? Answer loudly. When they see you, they nag. If you go to thousands of dance parties or such, they don’t say anything! As soon as you go to a meeting for Imam Husayn (‘a) they say, “Imam Husayn doesn’t need you to cry for him. Go do actions.” Eh! “What if I had gone to a bar?” “Go enjoy.” “Tell me to go enjoy here too!” But in this case, he feels uncomfortable and somehow shows his jealousy. During the 13 day New Year holiday, as many people are killed (in car accidents) as in a war. As many are killed as in a war operation! No one says anything. But, if someone dies on the way to Karbala, they repeat many times, “Everyone’s killed there, or you go for pilgrimage?! They kill our countrymen!” “You are sick. You don’t feel good!” Death happens anywhere. But, when it happens there, they ridicule it. He’s sick.
Do you know why he has become sick? What is mental illness? A person has something, but he denies it. I want to say something strange. Someone has to sit this person down and tell him, “Poor person. You are in love with Husayn (‘a). Don’t deny yourself. Unfortunate person, come. You come too. You are in love with Husayn too. You don’t feel good. Don’t deny it my dear. Be calm. Ok, I don’t want to try to convince you. Be calm. Maybe you will suddenly realize that you are in love with Husayn (‘a) too.” When a person hides a truth within himself, he is called a Kafir (unbeliever).

Nosotros decimos: “Entonces cómo obtenemos esa fuerza espiritual?

[Clip] God, why do You take it to Yourself | Agha Ali Reza Panahian Dec.04 2019 Farsi Sub English
God, why do You take it to Yourself?

God, why do You take it to Yourself?
When we go to a doctor and he gives us a prescription for a very fatal disease, if we don’t do what he says, we won’t constantly apologize to the doctor. If we apologize to him once, he’ll say, “This doesn’t have anything to do with me.” He’ll certainly say this. He says, “You don’t need to apologize to me.” But, the Almighty God has brought Himself into the middle of human beings’ lives.
I love you more than your mother does! God has created this world in an orderly manner. Look at the universe. In this world, which God has created orderly, He has given will, authority, and freedom to human beings. This human being makes mistakes and does misdeeds. It’s strange that God has called this sinning. “God, I have ruined myself, ‘I have harmed myself.’ (Qur’an 28:16) I have bothered myself. Why do You take it to Yourself?”
A person has put his hand on a butcher block and cut his fingers with a cleaver. “We have harmed ourselves. When we harm ourselves, why do You somehow take it to Yourself?” Why did the Almighty God make the schedule that He gave us with commands, in such a way that any misdeeds we do in this schedule, are against God’s commands? God says, “If you make these mistakes, you have disobeyed me. When you harm yourself, I get upset with you. The things that are in your favour, I order you to do.” God talks with insistence and fervour. He keeps taking people to Heaven or Hell (in the Qur’an)! His talks are totally promotional. “God why do You do this?!”
He replies, “Don’t you understand why I’m upset? I love you more than your mother!” “God, even if You don’t command me, I still have to do these. Why do You involve Your commands in this?” Isn’t this due to the severity of God’s fondness towards His servants? What other philosophy could it have? What is Holy War (Jihad)? Defend yourself against the enemy. What is ethics? You should have a good behaviour. It’s strange that if we don’t do these, God calls them sins. “You have sinned against My command!” “God, why do You get upset when I beat myself?” Doesn’t this show God’s severe fondness towards us? For example, God forbid, is God a mean king that has said something in general and if you don’t listen, He’ll get upset, rage and punish you severely! It is not like this at all. Why should God need this? It’s only due to the severity of His affection. It doesn’t have any other reason.

Be a contestant.
It’s said that God has His believing servants race in the same way that horses race on a track. The excitement is about seconds.
God says, “Therefore, race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden as wide as the heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. Race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden as wide as heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers. Such is the Favour of Allah; He gives it to whom He will. Allah is the Owner of great favour.” (Qur’an 57:21)
God! There is no one! Who are You telling that You can give them a great favour?! No one wants these! Who races?! “God created the heavens and the earth in six days. His Throne existed on water so that He could test you and find out those among you who do good deeds.” (Qur’an 11:7) He has created all the skies and earth to see which one of you is better. To put a race.
Truly, how many people among us have this feeling to leave others behind? Is this spirituality? Has anyone given us this feeling before? One might say, “Isn’t religion for rescuing us from the mire of misery?” Religion is not just for this. Religion has come to rescue you from the mire of life with a racing car. You were given a key to a race car from the beginning. Press on the gas and go!
Some calming psychics - this term has two meanings, they have mental problems themselves and they want to give comfort… Do you know what they say? I won’t introduce who they are. They say, “Don’t feel like you are competing. The stress of winning and the discomfort of losing will bother you.” They want to raise us to be sheep! Have you seen how sheep don’t race at all and are comfortable. What does religion say? It says to have a feeling of competition. What about the stress of winning?
God says, “I’m present, and I don’t even nap. I’ll help you. I’m God! I’ll help you in doing great things. I like a servant who wants to win.” You say, “God, what if I lose?” God says, “Will I allow this?!” “What if I lose?” “I am here and will compensate for you. So why do you need a relationship with Me?” “What if I feel like racing, but I lose?” “I’m the God of the losers! I do something for them to win. I don’t let you lose from the beginning. What game do you want to win? I will prepare the background for you Myself.”
He or she wanted to win. God looks and puts a beautiful, small, good deed on his or her way. God says, “Do this. Do this. You won! You won!” You say, “God, You won! I didn’t!” He replies, “I’ll write all of it for you.”
A person won’t understand the Godship of God until he starts racing! Be a contestant! For us to be devout, someone who is sensitive about sinning, we should be a contestant. We shouldn’t pursue just the least profits. We should want benefit, want the most, want it fast, want all of it, and want it to be better than everyone else’s.

Don’t have self-confidence!
We have “self-confidence” in our terminology. But, there is no such thing as self-confidence in the religious texts. People tell us, “Have self-confidence.” What do they mean? They mean you should have spiritual power and strength, so that you can make decisions firmly and take action firmly. Stand by what you say. Don’t be shaky. This is what they mean by self-confidence. But, in Islam, the Qur’an, and discussions about the traditions and religion there is no talk about self-confidence at all.
When we say self-confidence, do we mean spiritual power and strength? God says, “Yes, having spiritual power and strength is a good thing. But, why do you want to gain it through self-confidence? This is very wrong.” We say, “So how should we gain this spiritual power and strength?” God says, “By trusting in Me! Why trust in yourself?!”
There is a wrong term, which people often use. It’s self-confidence. It is very wrong. An ignorant person trusts in himself. I have all these weaknesses. As the Qur’an says, I am “unjust and ignorant.” (Qur’an 33:73) I am so ignorant. How can I trust in myself? “But, you’ll become unsteady.” “No, not at all.” So if you don’t have confidence in yourself, where have you gained this strength?” “I trusted in God.”
A child doesn’t have self-confidence. He trusts in his parents. He is even calmer than we are. Ayatollah Bahjat used to say, “Children are never worried about tomorrow’s food.” Because they say, “Mom will provide it. What’re you saying? Dad will provide it.” He has no doubt that his parents will provide food. A child doesn’t have self-confidence. That is why he strongly trusts in his parents. He is constantly connected to his parents and won’t let go of them.
Have you seen a child in a gathering sitting and playing next to his parents? The parents get up to go somewhere, and the child starts screaming, “Don’t go. Sit down!” They say, “I’ll come back.” “No! If you go, I can’t count on your coming back. I have to be with you.” Whoever hugs him, he won’t listen at all.
We should scream in the same way if we move away from God. How does a child depend on his parents and stay calm? We’re supposed to trust in God in this same way and find peace. We want to cut our ties with God and stand on our own feet. God says, “Ok, go ahead. Poor person, you are ‘unjust and ignorant.’ Every moment you are unjust to yourself. You are acting ignorantly every moment.”
“Won’t our self-confidence be ruined when you call us, ‘unjust and ignorant?’ You say that we are so ignorant and unjust.” “Yes, your self-confidence will be ruined. Are you supposed to have self-confidence?” “Sir, if a person doesn’t have self-confidence, he’ll become unsteady and weak.” “Compensate your shakiness and weakness with God!”

There is a wrong term, which people often use. It’s self-confidence. It’s very wrong. A child doesn’t have self-confidence. That is why he strongly trusts in his parents. He is constantly connected to his parents and won’t let go of them. We’re supposed to trust in God in this same way and find peace. Trust in God!

Do You Hear Your Adhan? | Agha Alireza Panahian | Farsi Sub English
We all hear Adhan. It is a general announcement for the believers to come to prayers. Is there a specific Adhan for each one of us? If yes, what is that separate Adhan wants from me?

The Strategic Role of a Bad Trait
Sometimes there is only one bad trait, but it causes a person to go to Hell. Very simple. It makes a society wretched. This means this evil has a strategic role. Some evils in general have a strategic role. For example, jealousy is strategic.
Amru Aas’s son narrated, “Once, I was sitting in the Mosque. The Prophet of God (s) said, ‘Whoever wants to look at a person that will go to Heaven, look at this old man who will enter now. He will definitely go to Heaven.’”
Amru Aas’s son was a sensitive and astute person. He wondered about him?! He was young. He came to the old man’s house and said, “I have had an argument with my father and don’t have a place. Will you let me stay in your house?” The old man accepted.
He stayed there for three days and watched him day and night. He saw that he was a regular person. He couldn’t find anything special in him! He prayed, slept, ate, worked, etc. He didn’t recite the Qur’an or fast in a special way.
After three days, he told the old man, “I’m sorry. I lied that I said I had an argument with my father. I wanted to watch you closely to see how you are. And I saw that you are a very normal person.” The old man responded, “Was I supposed to be abnormal?” He replied, “The Prophet (s) said that you will go to Heaven. You have something that we don’t.” The old man replied, “That’s very kind of the Prophet to say so. I don’t know.” He asked, “Talk some about your mood and work.”
The old man replied, “I am like ‘this and that.’” Suddenly the old man said, “If God gives a virtue to anybody, it isn’t hard for me.” I say, ‘How nice. Good for him. How beautiful.’” Amru Aas’s son said, “This is what we are unable to tolerate.” I am unable to tolerate for God to give something to someone with no reason. I say, “What about me?!”
Some traits are strategic. Like the trait of jealousy. Actually, what is the first negative trait that is born in a human being? Jealousy starts from the age of three. It bothers the child too. You should have children very close in age, not very close, at least three years between them, so that this child feels jealous, becomes bothered, and learns to pass on it. You vaccinate him or her.
“This is how it is! You have come into this world to pass the test of jealousy. With your small brother or sister, see how it is. Feel what Cain, Talha, Zubayr, Mu’awiah, and Umar Sa’d felt. The story started from here. Fight! Fight with your jealousy my little one.” Let your child practice and you help him or her. This is the way it is. Is it possible for God not to tell us to work on such a strategic trait like jealousy every day? Is it possible?
What part of the Qur’an is obligatory to recite every day? Chapter ‘Hamd.’ “(Lord), guide us to the right path, the path of those to whom You have granted blessings.” (Qur’an 1:6-7) You didn’t feel bad?! God has granted them blessings. What about you? “No, guide me to their path. It’s not a problem that He has granted them blessings. I’m not jealous.” Good job! Good job! “…the path of those to whom You have granted blessings,” means that I’m not jealous. Actually, I’m humble in another way too. Not only I’m not jealous or miserly, but I’m humble in another way too. What is that? “Guide me to their path.”
Jealousy is the basic theme of God’s test about religion. Guardianship shows itself there. One of the miracles of our religion is the religious mourning ceremonies for Aba Abdillah al-Husayn, which work on our most basic, strategic, bad trait. In each meeting, your jealousy towards the “Guardians” will be struck down so that you won’t become like Cain. It brings us out from being like Cain.
When they talk about Abel’s tragedies, your heart softens and warms so that you won’t become Cain. May I be sacrificed for Husayn (‘a) and his children that they were all beaten so much to create this humbleness in us. You will see on the Day of Judgment how much Husayn (‘a) has struggled for us. This was God’s design! This Able (Husayn) that we burn for helps us not to become Cain.

Searching within Our Inner Being
In a tradition, we have been told to purify our internal being before the reappearance. Because, at the time of the reappearance there will be some tests, which many don’t expect, and they therefore fall to the ground. Before the reappearance, everyone should purify his or her internal being as much as they can from some flaws, which even wine drinkers may not have. They might become corrected when the Imam (‘a.j.) comes. But me, a believer and Muslim, I go to the mosque and am very sacred, but I stand up to the Imam.
Basically, a human being’s life from the beginning to end is spent to uncover the hidden parts of his existence. Our life on the path to perfection is nothing but finding the hidden parts of our existence. Religiosity is nothing but finding the hidden parts of a person! The only philosophy behind the divine tests is uncovering the hidden parts of a human being.
God said, “I created you to test you.” This means that He created us for us to look inside ourselves and see what is going on there. A tradition explains that the Imam’s (‘a) followers look inside themselves very much. The Imam (‘a) said, “A person who doesn’t evaluate himself every day, is not from us.” They evaluate themselves every day.
The ‘Friends of God’ weep and cry in the middle of the night! The Commander of the Faithful, Ali (‘a), was born inside the Ka’ba! He was worried until the end of his life that there may be some hidden bad points within himself to cause him to die as an unbeliever! He was worried! When struck, he said, “I’ve become prosperous.” Now he felt comfortable that he would die as a Muslim. The Commander of the Faithful (‘a)!
What is going on inside a person that he must evaluate himself so much? The Commander of the Faithful (‘a) wasn’t joking. During the Sha’baniyah sermon, when the Prophet (s) saw him, he cried. The Imam (‘a) asked, “O Prophet of God, why did you cry when you saw me?” The Prophet (‘a) replied, “I saw that your beard will become colored with your blood in the month of Ramadan.” The Imam (‘a) asked, “Am I a believer at that time?!” O Allah! Where are you Imam?! He is busy with himself to make sure there aren’t any bad points hidden in the corner of his heart.
Find your hidden self. Each one of us should spend some time. Make your faith firm deep inside your heart before the reappearance. Whoever has some hypocrisy in his heart, will fall down due to the tests before the reappearance. And, they will fall to the ground.

A Gathering of Love and Vitality
Agha Ali Reza Panahian
The world is a world of brands and advertising. In such a world, some people spend billions to make a brand name. Then, they trade with that brand. We don’t have a good packaging industry for our cultural products. We don’t know how to introduce them.
We have an extremely superb, delicate, and beautiful humane event, which is crying due to love. The people of the world wish for a moment of the times, which you easily have in your hands and are drowned in, to be able to experience it for a moment. If they can affect people with a movie or TV show for a moment, like the moments when you easily cry in the religious meetings, and they make people cry, that movie will become universal.
It is easy to make people laugh. But, making people cry, especially due to love, can’t be easily found. It can’t be found in the world. “What are they doing?” The people of the world don’t believe that you can cry due to enjoying, due to an epic, and due to very deep feelings of affection. This is a cultural and humane product. We are unable to introduce this. No one is aware of it.
Such that, you have definitely seen it, a religious leader in the west in a very large amphitheatre starts chanting and reading a recitation. He tells everyone, “Stand up and beat your chests as I read.” The custom that you have, the truth that exists, the event that occurs, the harmony that exists in a crowd and they all become a chorus, and they all do the same thing, is so attractive in the world.
An action like beating the chest, which you do in religious gatherings, is sweet and attractive for the people of the world. Don’t think they even have one percent of this. No, no. Your chest beating is very different to what happens there.
I went to Canada. Some young, intelligent, Iranian students said, “Sir, we really need an ethics class here.” I said, “Actually it is not like that at all. If you want an ethics class, go near their dance parties on Sundays. See how tired, depressed and forlorn they are when they come out. Then, remember in Iran how cheerful people are when they come out of religious meetings. Compare these two, and see what is going on where.”

If we don’t consider the reappearance to be close…
If all of us were hoping that Imam Mahdi (‘a.j.) will come next week, did you know that the Imam would have really come? “If you make people hopeful that the Imam will come next week, but the Imam doesn’t come, won’t people become irreligious?”
Is the reappearance truly close? Should we consider the reappearance to be close? I have to tell a story first, and then answer this question.
Prophet Noah (‘a) was a prophet for 950 years. The nation had been promised, “One day you will be rescued.” They were waiting for relief. They asked God for it. God replied, “Tell your friends, ‘Seven years from now the relief will come. Be ready.’” They became so happy and in a good mood! “Seven years from now the unbelievers will be destroyed and we will finally be rescued!”
These seven years finished. They passed these seven years with enthusiasm. Relief? God, the sky is silent. Relief! God said, “Noah, it has been postponed for seven more years.” Noah told his companions, “God changed His decision; it’s ‘Bida’.’” They looked at each other, “It’s only seven years. We waited for 950 years. We’ll wait a total of 14 years.”
After the second seven years, some people’s belief was shaking. “God this time won’t be like the previous time! Please don’t let us lose our reputation.” After seven years, “Noah, seven more years.” “How can I tell this to them?!” “Say it just like this! Say, ‘Seven more years.’” Noah told people, “Seven more years.” Some lost their belief and said, “It’s a hoax.” “God, how many were we from the beginning, and now some have left?! Is this the right way?! Whatever You say. But, this third seven years...”
After the third seven years God said, “Noah, seven more years.” Half of them left. The fourth seven years. “God, I don’t know how to talk to You. What should I say?” The fifth seven years. Seven more years. Very few remained. They said, “You’re making fun of us. If you hadn’t promised, we were waiting just like this!”
The sixth seven years. “God no one is left.” “Seven more years.” Noah announced this. I don’t know how many were left. But, those who were left had passed through the filters. They said, “Fine.” No one left anymore. Relief came.
Now, I have told my story. What was the question? “If you make people hopeful and the Imam doesn’t come, they’ll become irreligious.” Fine! We didn’t promise. We increased hope and it didn’t come. Even if we had promised from God and it didn’t come, their belief shouldn’t have shook. This is called “Bida’.”
“Bida’” is in our principles of faith, and we don’t talk about it very much. Imam Sadiq (‘a) said, “If you knew how valuable it is to believe in ‘Bida’,’ you would have talked about it every day.” God changes His decisions to test His servants.
We have another tradition too. God told a nation, “In 20 months, relief will come for you.” That nation was in captivity with their prophet. After that period, a message came that it had been postponed. That prophet informed his nation. With no exception, all of them said, “It’s fine! Whatever God says.” Relief came two days later. “God, You said longer. It was only 20 months. What happened?!” “I saw that their belief didn’t decrease. I respected their good thoughts and trust and brought relief right away.”
Why have they told us these stories?! Looks like they care about our spiritual mood. Right? They care about how we feel and about our belief. Do you know why the martyrs of Karbala were valuable? Do you know what Imam Husayn (‘a) did to them on the night of Ashura?
The Imam (‘a) said, “Don’t have hope that you can rescue me. I will make you hopeless about life; whoever stays here, will be martyred. I will be martyred too.” He didn’t leave even a little hope in their hearts for relief, even a little hope for divine help, even in appearances. Their hearts didn’t tremble even a little.
Despair really makes people despondent. Whoever stayed hopeful, good for them! If someone comes and firmly tells a believer, “This revolution definitely won’t remain till the reappearance. All of you will be destroyed,” and this person doesn’t lose his hope, this is very hard. We are certain about what Imam Khomeini said, “This revolution will remain till the reappearance.” This is one of the certainties in Imam Khomeini’s words. We are certain, but we aren’t that hopeful. What will happen if someone makes us hopeless?!
Looks like they care about our spiritual mood. Right? They care about how we feel and about our belief.

What can I do not to sin? What can I do to fear God? In order to be religious, people should first be trained to have a program and to plan. Help him or her to understand that we have to be disciplined. We must plan in addition to being disciplined, so that we can manage our own lives. They have told us repeatedly about this fact in the traditions that discipline is first.
You prove God to me a hundred times, and I still don’t listen to him. You prove the Hereafter and other things too, and I still don’t obey, because my will has become stubborn. I can’t listen! I haven’t been disciplined.
If we want to convince someone not to sin, the first step is to convince him that he can’t live without a program. Being without a program means being passive. A passive person doesn’t get up until he’s kicked. God hasn’t brought Hell to kick him now! It’s for later. So, he doesn’t do anything! He’ll only get up if he’s kicked!
His temperament is such that his life is without any program. He does things when he’s forced to, threatened, encouraged, or someone is standing over his head. He doesn’t know how to live based on a program at all! If you keep telling him about Hell, it’s useless! This Hell isn’t now. It’s later on. This undisciplined person without any program won’t move himself because of a future Hell. He’ll move whenever he’s kicked. An undisciplined person won’t move himself because of a future Hell.
If my child doesn’t pray, what can I do to get him or her to pray? I’m confused and don’t know what to do. Where should I start? Have you taught your child the key, necessary element in life, which is discipline? We ill-manneredly eat, say Salam, sleep, wake up, walk, dress... Ill-mannered, ill-mannered, ill-mannered! If a child isn’t disciplined, can you turn him into a disciplined person?
It’s easy to add one or two etiquettes to a disciplined person. He observes the etiquettes about neighbors, about sleeping and being awake, about his own room, and about other things. It’s not hard if you add a couple more etiquettes. He says, “What should I do?” “Observe the etiquettes about the Lord.” “What are they?” “Stand like this and say ‘Allahu Akbar.’ Don’t move for five minutes. Prostrate. Bend. Stand up. These are its etiquettes.” He’ll understand and do it. It’s not hard.
It’s hard for the child who has no discipline in his house. There’s kindness, but no discipline. There’s belief in God, but no discipline. There’s spirituality, but no discipline. It won’t work with just these! I’m not talking about whether dancing is forbidden, or not. Whether vulgar songs are vulgar, or not. Or, from what age should we teach children the differences between genders? I’m not talking about Islamic covering and other such things.
People who don’t want discipline for children in Elementary Schools are criminals. The argument is not over religion! Everyone needs a plan to live. And, this planning should be in a person’s blood. For planning to be in a person’s blood, he or she must have been disciplined in childhood. This discipline may be that of the Communists, the East, or the West. But, there should be discipline! The politicians who advocate unruliness in the education environment are criminals.
In order to convince someone not to sin, we must first convince them that we cannot live without a program. Why do you talk to a person about religion when he\'s not used to living with a program? It’s easy to add one or two etiquettes to a disciplined person. He says, “What should I do?” “Observe the etiquettes about the Lord.” “What are they?” “Stand like this and say ‘Allahu Akbar.’ Don’t move for five minutes. Prostrate. Bend. Stand up. In the same way that you should exercise for your muscles to become strong, in exactly the same way, the way to start to increase spiritual power is with mind exercises. Exercising the mind is through mind control. My mind shouldn’t wander everywhere. My mind should go where I order it to go. In the same way that when you exercise you strengthen your arm, Allamah Tabatabai has given exercises for controlling the mind.

Are you willing to race
Agha Ali Reza Panahian
What does racing mean? It means that I have to win. Do you understand? I have to defeat you.
In a group prayer, you see the first row is empty. When I go different places to pray, I see the first row is empty. I say, “Please go forward.” “No sir! You go ahead.” “Doesn’t standing in the first row have more reward?” “Sir. Go ahead. It’s yours.” Look at those sitting in the back rows! The first row is empty! “Go stand in the first row!” “I don’t want to. This is good enough.” Is this the place to be humble?
Do you know what the Holy Prophet (s) said? You won’t believe what I say until I tell you what the Prophet (s) said. You’ll think, “What was he talking about?!” The Prophet (s) said, “Standing in the first row has more reward.” What should two believers do if they arrive at the same time? The Prophet said, “They should cast lots.”
“I’m in need.” “No, I’m in need!” “I got here first!” “No, I did!” “So let’s draw.” They should toss a coin or something. “No way. I can’t pass on this. I’m sorry.”
All of Imam Husayn’s (‘a) companions in Karbala were racing. Who won? Aba al-Fazl al-Abbas. It’s obvious. Others envy his position. It’s a race. “So race in goodness.” (Qur’an 2:148)

Deep Inside the Heart
Agha Ali Reza Panahian
The prophet David (‘a) asked God, “God, who is at the same level with me in Heaven?” God replied, “The daughter of ‘so and so’ is at the same level with you in Heaven.” The prophet became curious about what this girl had that she was at the same level in Heaven? He got the address and went to that family.
He asked, “What good points do you have? What worships acts do you do? How vigilant are you?” She mentioned some of her normal deeds. The prophet David (‘a) said, “No, these are not things to cause you to be at the same level of the prophet of your time. Tell me more for me to understand.”
She said, “I am very optimistic about God.” The prophet David (‘a) approved and said, “This is what can cause a person to be at the same level of the prophet of his or her time.” God says, “I look deep inside My servant. Deep inside is the part of a person’s heart, which is hidden and which a person may not be aware of himself in many cases.” God says, “Let Me see what is deep inside his heart? Whatever it is, I’ll deal with him based on that.”
God determines our future for the next year on the Night of Power. How does He determine our future fate? One of the very important factors is to be optimistic about God.
Can a person pray or make up a missed prayer on the Day of Judgement? Can a person take money with himself to pay for his debts on the Day of Judgment? Can he give charity there? Can he do anything to gain some reward? There is one deed, which is effective on the Day of Judgement, and that is being optimistic and having hope in God.
After calculating a person’s deeds, they want to send him to Hell. He constantly looks behind himself. The Almighty God says, “Bring My servant. Why is he looking behind himself?” He says, “God, I didn’t think You would punish me.” God replies, “I have forgiven you now because you were optimistic about Me.”
Being optimistic is effective on the Day of Judgment! God replies, “I have forgiven you now because you were optimistic about Me.” Being optimistic is effective on the Day of Judgment!
God make us Your best servants on earth during this Month of Ramadan. Do you know why we don’t pray like this or cry for this? Because we say, “This is too difficult. Forget it. It’s not that easy.”
This is being disappointed. This is not something strange. “I don’t feel like it.” Do you know why? Because, you don’t believe you will be given such a thing. “Is God this kind? No!” This is an obvious insult, having doubts about the extent of God’s Kindness. This is being disappointed.
Where does our regret start from? It starts from each good deed that we weren’t able to do. We will blame ourselves and say, “I didn’t want it. I wasn’t optimistic. I didn’t have hope that God would give that to me. So, He didn’t.”
Being optimistic, hopeful, and not becoming disappointed are not just moods. In practice, they have effect. If you say it’ll happen, it will happen.
She suddenly said, “I am very optimistic about God.” The prophet David (‘a) agreed and said, “This is what can cause a person to be at the same level of the prophet of his or her time.”

Arbaeen, a Pattern for Life
Agha Ali Raza Panahiyan
Friends, do you know what the philosophy of justice is? It is to prepare the environment for us to live together like human beings with affection. Like Arbaeen! The highest peak of a human being’s life is not human rights. It’s to live like human beings, like Arbaeen!
In the world, there are many people who are untainted, loving, and ready to accept the truth. I plead you go and introduce your religion, which is based on affection, enjoyment, and loving the “Friends of God,” to the world. I beg you.
They don’t know about our religion. There are many misunderstandings about it. They have made the Daesh (ISIS) to increase the worse misunderstandings. These misunderstandings have caused some of our wretched, westernized people to become infatuated with the west. See what it has done to the west itself?! They don’t know how much you enjoy this religion.
Western people who have seen Arbaeen think this is a religious rite. People are forced to go there. These were devout people, who are going because they were told to. I told this to some French people on this path. They had come from France, and we talked using a translator. People were gathered from 20 nations in a Mawkib (resting place). I told them one thing and they lost their control. I told them, “Did you know if people don’t come here, they won’t go to Hell?”
I explained this for them and they were surprised! They said, “Really?! Isn’t it a religious command?!” I replied, “No, it’s not a command, for which they’ll be punished if they don’t do it. They won’t go to Hell if they don’t feed others.” They asked, “So why do they do this?!” I said, “Due to their love!” They had reached the middle of the way and were blaming themselves why they hadn’t understood what was going on there! This is a religion based on “yearning for it.” It is based on love and enjoyment.
One of the scholars in Najaf said, “There was a peddler. We went to his very small house. But, he served a lot of food! I told him, ‘You’re not that wealthy to give such food. What is your job?’ He wouldn’t answer and evaded the question. He was a peddler in the streets of Najaf. He said, ‘I put aside half of the money I earn every day for the Arbaeen of Imam Husayn (‘a).’”
We want this life! Beyond law! Beyond justice! Beyond ethics! Sacrifice! Sacrifice! This is not a joke. You are inviting people to sacrifice. A system based on sacrifice! Not a system based on fairness. Those who say that Arbaeen can’t be a pattern for life to the extent of an entire civilization, are the ones who had mocked the prophets of God. “Woe to human beings! Whenever a Messenger came to them, they mocked him.” (Qur’an, 36:30)
Why did they mock the prophets?! If you talk about ethics, no one will mock you! If you talk about justice, no one will mock you! If you talk about worshiping, no one will mock you! Do you know what the prophets said that people mocked them? They said, “Let’s live in an environment, like that which exists for the Arbaeen walk.” They mocked the prophets.
One might say, “It’s impossible! In case anyone has an accident, we should have insurance. You say people come due to their love. What if they don’t come!” They mock this.
If you give control of Arbaeen to the secular system, they will say, “To prevent quarrels when distributing food, we’ll hand out coupons. How many days will you be on the way?” “Four days.” “Three meals per day. Take your coupons and go. We’ve given that part to the private sector. We will charge tolls and distribute food there.” They’ll TOTALLY RUIN Arbaeen!
I’ve heard one of the authorities, maybe mistakenly, has said, “We want to do something from next year to eliminate the Mawkibs on the borders and give them to the private sector.”
Actually, we want to do something to the world for it to be managed like the Mawkibs. You’re doing the opposite. You haven’t understood Arbaeen at all. Why do you think people sense spirituality and luminosity there? Life based on affection.
Any one of the government officials, who serves Arbaeen, should be respected. Anyone, who doesn’t do enough, has hatred towards the Household (‘a). But, if they do want to do anything, they can prepare people based commissions. A base and infrastructure of sacrifice, which is the truth of Arbaeen, should be prepared!
I’ve seen physicians who were specialists on this way. He had come because of his love and worked constantly. He had even given money himself to build the place there. He had brought medicines himself too. The tribes from surrounding areas were bringing their sick people to be treated. These people said, “We keep our sick people and wait to bring them to be cured by the Arbaeen physicians!”
This is our pattern! Friends, Arbaeen will take over the world. This is the government of the Imam of the Time (‘a.j.), which we believe will take over the world! We’ll change the world with a civilization that is based on this sacrifice and affection, which is in Arbaeen!
