There is a beautiful tradition narrated from a man named Nauf. He said, “I saw Imam Ali (as) turn away from everyone and move away quickly and eagerly.” Have you seen when someone is pursuing something he likes how he moves away from others? He doesn’t say goodbye ten times. He‘s like an arrow that has been shot from a bow! This is a description of how the Imam went away.
The man asked him, “Where are you going?” It was midnight when he saw the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (as), leaving! Now see how the Imam said he wanted to go pray the Midnight Prayer and worship. [The Imam said,] “Nauf, leave me. Indeed my longings take me to the presence of my beloved.”
O Imam, may I be sacrificed for you. Worshiping to you is going toward your longings, right? May I be sacrificed for you. It’s obvious that this worshiping is fun and enjoyable for you.
“I said, ‘My master, what are your longings?’ The Imam said, ‘The One Who should know, the One Whom I long for knows this Himself. I don’t need to tell this to anyone else.’”
See how the Commander of the Faithful talked. This is how he was. Nauf said, “O Commander of the Faithful, I’m afraid of my greed...”He saw Imam Ali’s (as) position. He looked at himself and said he’s afraid! Nauf was a good person. He saw Imam Ali’s (as) longings and what was fun to him. So Nauf said he was afraid of his own greed for this world. He saw that he didn’t have that same enthusiasm the Imam had for worshiping. He asked what he should do. The Imam (as) was surprised.
The Imam said, “Why don’t you take refuge with He Who protects those who are afraid and is the shelter of the mystics?” Why don’t you get help from God? He gives refuge. If you’re truly afraid, He gives refuge to those who are afraid. Get help from God Himself! He is the shelter of the mystics. You understood you’re not in a good situation? You understood there is a better situation? He is the shelter of the mystics. He gives refuge Himself. Why do you ask the Imam?
What a truly high-level conversation. It is very beautiful and mystical. Nauf said, “Guide me to Him.” I don’t know how to read the words of the Commander of the Faithful (as). The Imam said, “He is the Exalted and Great God. Attach your longings to His good grace.” This is how worshiping becomes something fun and enjoyable! See the Commander of the Faithful’s (as) outlook. The Exalted and Great God will take you to your longings. Don’t you want to be like this?! So ask Him. God will take you to your longings. [The Imam said,] “Don’t you want to worship God like me?!” The Imam didn’t say, “like me.” I’m saying it like this. Don’t you want to worship God like the Imam? God will take you to your longings.
What is worshiping my dear ones? Worshiping means you talk about your longings with God and He takes you to them. O God, so worshiping is fun and enjoyable.

Our condolences to the believers all across the world upon the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful, the first divinely appointed Imam, Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib (A).
In this episode we reflect upon the will of Imam Ali (A), which his eminence stated after he had been struck by the poisoned sword of Ibn Muljim.
What did Imam Ali (A) speak about in his will and where can this will be found?
What groups of people did Imam Ali (A) refer to in his will?
What did Imam Ali (A) say about Jihad on the path of Allah?
And finally, what did Imam Ali (A) say in his will when speaking about the oppressor and the oppressed?
Sayyid Shahryar answers via the words in this will of Imam Ali (A).
Peace and salutations be upon you, O’ Commander of the Faithful!
Peace and salutations be upon you, O’ living breathing miracle of the Messenger of Allah (S)!

Having never gone to an official school to learn the art of reading and writing, some have claimed that Prophet Muhammad was illiterate. However, given that he had the best teacher, that is Allāh, and that he would experience the greatest ever events in his life, how can people claim that he did not have the ability to engage in something like this? Does the Quran make note of Prophet Muhammad being illiterate? Join us in this episode as we review the Quran and its description of Prophet Muhammad.

With the move to Medina, the Prophet encountered a challenge – how to bring about harmony and introduce two distinct groups to one another – the Muhajiroon, those who had converted in Mecca and had to leave their home to move to Yathrib and the Ansar, those who had converted in the city of Yathrib and were now in a position to have to welcome in hundreds of people into their city. What would Prophet Muḥammad do to bring these people together and WHO did he choose as his brother?

After thirteen years of struggle, the Muslim community were at a dead-end – if they stayed in Mecca, not only could they not grow, but rather, their lives were in danger every day. What to do in such a situation? The answer was to leave Mecca and find a new home to grow in – and so Prophet Muhammad, through the direction of Allāh, proceeded to plan to move at night to the city of Yathrib – north of Mecca. He would create an elaborate plan, with Imam ʿAlī playing the most important role in his young life – to sacrifice his life for the Prophet to remain safe. Join us in this episode as we review the migration to Medina – bidding farewell to Mecca.

On the journey through the realms of existence, Allāh allowed His prophet to experience many unheard things which no one before or after him would ever go through. At the same time, he was also granted two blessings which Allāh would only confer upon him – the obligation to the night prayer (ṣalāt al-Layl) and the power to intercede for his community (maqam-e mahmood). Join us in this episode as we review the beautiful gifts which Allāh conferred upon Prophet Muhammad during the Me’raj.

Death is an inevitable reality of life – even prophets, messengers, imams, saints need to die. As much as it is a reality and we ‘prepare’ for losing our loved ones, the shock is always powerful when it happens. It was in the year which Prophet Muhammad would term, The Year of Grief, that he lost his two strongest pillars, his beloved uncle and the faithful believer, Abu Ṭālib and also his wife, the Mother of the Believers, Khadijah the daughter of Khuwaylid. Join us in this episode as we review how Prophet Muhammad dealt with this major loss and more importantly, how Allāh consoled His final prophet by giving him the greatest experience – The Night Journey to Jerusalem and then the Ascent into the Heavens.

A Message from Imam Ali (A) | Shaykh Usama Abdulghani | English
Did the Islamic world see the kind of allegiance that was witnessed during the time when Imam Ali (A) was given allegiance to by the people when they requested him to become the Caliph?...
Did the Islamic world see the kind of allegiance that was witnessed during the time when Imam Ali (A) was given allegiance to by the people when they requested him to become the Caliph?
And how many people decided to not pay allegiance to Imam Ali (A)?
What did Imam Ali (A) say to the people when they asked him to be the Caliph?
Did Imam Ali (A) compromise on his Islamic principles when he was the Caliph of the Muslims?
And what were the three groups of people who fought against Imam Ali (A)?
Finally, what does Imam Ali (A) say about an individual\\\'s efforts and the end of result of one\\\'s efforts?
In this Scholar Clip, Shaykh Usama Abdulghani answers these questions and more.
Our condolences to the believers all across the world upon the martyrdom anniversary of the Commander of the Faithful, the first divinely appointed Imam, Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib (A).

With all the different current events going on in the world, we all really need a funny, relaxed, refreshing, and yet eye-opening commentary on it all.
Sayyid Shahryar\'s here to humbly shed a little insight into all that\'s going on around the world; past, present, and perhaps even future.
In this part 2 episode, we\'re \"Keepin\' It Real\" by continuing to talk about the ongoing conflict/war between Ukraine and Russia, a.k.a. \"The Rukraissiane Conflict II\".
In this part 2 episode, we answer the following questions and much more; with a pinch of laughter.
What do the people selling millions of dollars of weapons to Ukraine say about putting boots on the ground?
And what was the little slip up that was announced in the United Nations regarding biological testing laboratories in the Ukraine?
Who is Roman Abramovich and why was he boycotted?
Finally, what role do certain countries in the world, which include the western world, have to play in fueling the Rukraissiane Conflict?
Oh, and can you trust the Western world; what are some examples of them backstabbing various countries?
And one last finally; just in case you\'re wondering, the pronunciation is \"Thu Ru-kray-shi-aine Con-flic-tuh\".
And finally, finally, what is the current stance of the mass media when it comes to the Rukraissiane Conflict?
Hey, we\'re just \"Keepin\' It Real\".

To be complete people, Allāh has given us the institution of marriage – the sacred union, between a man and woman, under the sight of Allāh. As Prophet Muhammad was maturing and developing in Mecca, he too would look for his spouse and would find her in the person of Khadijah the daughter of Khuwaylid. She would give him comfort, support, love and her wealth to promote Islam and propagate the message. Join us in this episode as we review the marriage of the century.

For forty years, Prophet Muhammad was preparing for his greatest ever role – that of the final prophet and messenger of Allāh. His impeccable character and other skills he had developed over the past four decades would come to fruition on the 27th of the lunar month of Rajab when the event of the bi’that or official proclamation would take place in the cave of Hira on the Mountain of Light. Join us as we trace the initial revelation and the beginning of the message of the Quran.

Description:
#Ramadan #Quran #ProphetMuhammad
For forty years, Prophet Muhammad was preparing for his greatest ever role – that of the final prophet and messenger of Allāh. His impeccable character and other skills he had developed over the past four decades would come to fruition on the 27th of the lunar month of Rajab when the event of the bi’that or official proclamation would take place in the cave of Hira on the Mountain of Light. Join us as we trace the initial revelation and the beginning of the message of the Quran.

He would, however, need to start small and then work his way up to warning all humanity – but you need to start from somewhere. \\\"Reach the Peak\\\" as we delve deeply into the beautiful pages of Nahjul Balagha and the wise words of the Commander of the Faithful, the first divinely appointed Imam, Imam Ali ibne Abi Talib (A).
In this episode, Sayyid Amir Behbahani speaks to us about how we are told, \\\"Don\\\'\\\'t Disclose Your Harships\\\".
Yet, what is the second piece of advice of Imam Ali (A) in the second Hikmah of Nahjul Balagha?
And what does Imam Ali (A) say about one\\\'s honor and reputation?
How is this second Hikmah related to Hikmah number 289 of Nahjul Balagha?
Finally, what are some of the characteristics that Imam Ali (A) lists about one of his companions that he praises and says we should inculcate in ourselves?
If you ultimately want to \\\"Reach the Peak\\\", you\\\'re going to have to take the first step - wherever you are!

==============================
The first, most common, important, influential, valuable, effective psychological effect of the verses of the Qur’an is the induction of God\'s greatness in the heart of His servant. What will be the result of this? The result is one feeling small and humble, and one becoming crushed before the greatness of God. From then on, pleasure, enlightenment, mercy, kindness and everything good can be tasted. If someone reads the Qur\'an like this, he won’t abandon the Qur\'an anymore and will become fond of it. Try it.
The first of God’s attributes that you must pay attention to in order for your soul to become corrected, and so that light, mercy and the doors to all beauties will be opened to you, is God’s greatness. Do you know what the result of this will be? When you recite the Qur\'an, it is as if you are attending a workshop that inspires God’s greatness in your soul!
This is not like listening to a speech, which is about exercising and the human anatomy for instance. They say, “This is an arm muscle. Repeating this move 20 times brings about these changes.” But you have not exercised. But if you actually go to a gym, you will start exercising, sweating and strengthening your muscles. When you recite the Qur’an, it is as if you have gone to a gym and are practicing with God’s attribute of greatness. This is very surprising and important! This is the first action that helps build up the human soul. If this is true, it’s very important. It’s a key point.
The first feeling that one must find with respect to God is feeling humble and small before God. [You say,] “I’m your little one.” After saying this, you start loving God too. Let’s not run before we can walk! We cannot love God unless we become small before Him. We must first become small before Him. We should pay attention to the Qur’an. You prostrate before God [when praying]. Have you noticed this? Have you noticed that you bow down? Have you noticed that you put your face on the dust? Why don’t you bat an eye at this?
What I am talking about has been mentioned in the Qur’an too. “Had We sent down this Qur’an on a mountain, you would certainly have seen it falling down, splitting asunder because of its fear of Allah.” [Qur’an 59:21] What is meant by “falling down, splitting asunder” is that it would have become small and crushed.
Have you seen how when some people are arguing they say, “You’re nothing to me”? This means you’re very small. “Splitting asunder” means it becomes small and crushed. O God, crush us. And who can understand the pleasure of becoming crushed by reciting the verses of the Qur\'an? The way to become fond of the Qur’an is to become crushed with it. But sometimes we don’t even bat an eye. An example is when a person is cursed but doesn’t even bat an eye. The Qur’an is crushing you. Be affected by it and see how enjoyable it is.
Write this phrase I’m saying a hundred times tonight! Become crushed with the verses of the Qur’an and see how enjoyable it is. You don’t need to write it more than a hundred times! We will remember it. Become crushed with the verses of the Qur’an and see how enjoyable it is. This does not need much spiritual wayfaring. You will become fond of the Qur’an.

Everyone needs to work to support themselves and their lifestyle – and the prophets of Allāh are no exception to this rule. Having lost his father before he was born, how, where and by whom would Prophet Muhammad learn the skills of business and commerce – a requirement given the era he was living in. In this episode we review his relationship with his beloved uncle, Abu Ṭālib and his learning the ropes of business.

Coming into this world as an orphan, ʿAbdullāh ibn Abdul Muttalib died before his son, the final prophet of Allāh, Muhammad could be born. In the rough and unforgiving climate of the Arabian Peninsula, who would be there to take care of the young Muhammad? In this episode, we study who took care of, supported, protected and nurtured Prophet Muhammad when he was a young child growing up in Mecca.

Where was Prophet Muhammad before he came to Earth? Is there some place where the souls ‘reside’ before they are permitted to come to Earth? What, if anything, does the Quran say about our per-existence and “how” did the light of Prophet Muḥammad make its way from the pre-worldly existence to Mecca? In this episode, we try and trace the light of Prophet Muḥammad before his birth.

Juz 16 of the Holy Qur\'an consists of three Meccan surahs: the last 36 verses of Surah Kahf, the entirety of Surah Maryam, and the entirety of Surah Taha. This juz touches on the concept of how Allah (swt) is in control of everything, including our free-will, how He provides our rizk, and how He intervenes in our lives. When we examine the life of Prophet Musa (as) in the beginning of Surah Taha, we see all of these concepts come together. When Musa’s (as) mother placed him in the river, she was nervous, but she had faith that Allah (swt) would take care of him. Allah (swt) made sure to move the river in such a way that the basket with Musa (as) in it would reach Pharaoh\'s palace. It is here that free-will comes into play. Using their free-will, Asiya, and eventually Pharaoh fell in love with baby Musa and decided to raise him. In this story we can see that while Allah (swt) is in control of everything, He has also provided us with free-will to decide our own destiny.

The 15th Juz consists of Surat al-Isra (111 verses, The Night Journey) and Surat al-Kahf (First 74 verses, The Cave), both Meccan. The concepts of Rizq, sustenance and Dua, supplication, are discussed here. Man is created hasty and we often ask for things that may be detrimental to us. We quickly get dejected and disappointed in Him, but need to remember that God is the one who gives, and withholds, and that He does this in perfect measure, with full awareness and of our needs and betterment. This teaches us to have complete faith and reliance in Him, and to recognize that He is the one in complete control. God also reminds us of our fragility, and complete dependency on Him. He points out our tendency to turn to Him only in distress, when in fact we should be turning to Him constantly, with hope and gratitude. And only then will we realize that the true power of supplication is not in gaining our wants, but in realizing our deepest desire which is proximity to God.

Juz 9 of the Qur\'an contains the last 118 verses of Surat al-A’raaf and the first 40 verses of Surat al-Anfal. One of the main themes of Surat al-A’raaf is discussions around resurrection and the descriptions of heaven and hell and somewhere in-between (the A’raaf).
Beginning in verse 175, the story of a man from the Bani Isra’il named Balam bin Ba’ura is discussed. He had been bestowed with spiritual signs and stations in which the truth had been unveiled to him. He could have soared higher if it wasn’t for his materialistic desires for the worldly which he pursued and thus led himself away from God. It is important for us to take a lesson from this story:
We may see God’s signs and recognise the Truth but choose to disregard them and follow our whims. Those who have the means to ascend to perfection yet do not utilise their intellect to find their purpose, resemble animals, particularly a cattle, as mentioned in this verse, as their goal is to only feed themselves. They thus lose focus and are those who are afflicted with heedlessness.

Juz 18 of the Holy Qur\'an consists of three surahs, Surah al-Muminun, a Meccan surah, Surah Nur, a Medinan surah, and Surah al-Furqan, a Meccan surah. Surah al-Muminun and Surah Nur discuss the certain behaviours Allah (swt) expects us to have and those behaviours that He expects us to stay away from.
Through these surahs we realize the importance that Allah (swt) places on how our actions affect those around us. When we do things, we should be mindful of how we are affecting others. The characteristics that He advises us to have include: being humble in our prayer, avoiding vain talk, paying zakat, guarding our private parts, keeping our trusts and promises, being careful over our prayers, not fault-finding, and not spreading rumours about others.
This juz should cause us to really reflect on our actions and whether or not they positively or negatively affect others. Do we treat others the way Allah (swt) wants us to treat them?

The 14th Juz consists of Surat al-Hijr (99 verses) and Surat an-Nahl (128 verses, the Bee). The verses of Surat an-Nahl are filled with remembrances of God’s blessings, and lessons we can learn from nature. God calls upon humanity to take lessons from these ‘blessings’, a word used 13 times throughout the chapter to impress upon us the magnitude of what He has given us. God speaks of water (which brings life to the earth), cattle, trees, fruits, bees and honey-- and the many benefits we receive from all of his creations. Allah also alludes to the idea that nature shows us the reality of the resurrection. In a Qur\'anic worldview, learning about nature and science is a means to connect with the Creator. He commands us to look around, observe His signs and to ponder, reflect and reason. As we watch spring unfold, let’s remember that there is a sign here that we too will be brought back to life.

The 20th Juz consists of Surat an-Naml (last 37 verses, The Ant), Surat al-Qasas (88 verses, The Stories) and Surat al-Ankabut (first 45 verses The Spider). The discussion in these suras explore the barriers/veils that prevent one from allowing the Quranic guidance to permeate their hearts. God clearly states that only those who believe in God’s signs, are open-hearted and have submitted, even partially, to the truth will be able to perceive the guidance offered by the Quran. Those who insist on rejecting the truth, and are arrogant, will be like the ‘deaf or dead who can’t hear’ because they lack intellectual humility and intentionally don’t want to listen to the message of God. Suratul Qasas relates the story of Prophet Musa, and includes the story of Qarun, who despite his knowledge and wealth, lacked humility, believing he ‘deserved’ God’s blessings. Pharoah and Haman are also mentioned in the same vein, and their arrogance led them to punishment and destruction. The reference to the spider’s web, giving Sura Ankabut its name, describes how such people’s base is like the frailest of homes, that of a spider, while the hold of God is the strongest. The Juz ends with God’s promise that those who strive in God’s way, will attain guidance.
