A Special Mindset for the Nights of Power (Laylatul Qadr) Why don’t we take full advantage of God’s Kindness? We are prevented from benefiting from God’s Mercy because we count on ourselves. This barrier is arrogance, being conceited about our possessions and achievements. We never talk to God as if we are a criminal, cutthroat, villain. No, we talk to God as if we are honorable people, “God, as You are aware, I’m obviously one of Your good servants. And I haven’t had a fault thus far. But, I decided to turn to You tonight to say if You want to grant me more blessings, sure, I agree! Yes, I have some faults. It is possible I haven’t done as much as I should.” This person is the epitome of arrogance. This person is not able to benefit from God’s Mercy. During the Nights of Power (Qadr) I like to go amongst the crowd of worshippers and see who has come for the first time, a person who has a history of serious wrongdoing! And, he is too embarrassed to talk. People ask him, “Sir, would you like a Qur’an?” When he wants to take the Qur’an, he thinks, “I’m too embarrassed to touch it. I have nothing, absolutely nothing to say.” If I find such a person during the Nights of Power, I’ll go and stand behind him. I’ll say, “God, whatever you grant him, grant to me too.” He doesn’t have a trace of arrogance. He has no pretentiousness at all. Others go back home happily. But, this person is still standing. Towards the end, he will say, “God, did You look at me too?” This kind of person will make use of God’s Mercy that night. Benefiting from God’s Mercy is very hard. Why? Because we count on ourselves. Don’t count on yourself. Are you able to go to a gathering of worshippers to repent like that criminal? You won’t go. You’d say, “It’s impossible. Is it possible?! Thank God, I’m not that bad either.” We are even proud of our deeds, which we haven’t done! At least he has done some good deeds. We tell ourselves, “We still have time until the end of the Month of Ramadan.” “Till the end of the month?! But, you haven’t done anything yet!” “I’ll do something. Don’t worry!” We are prevented from benefiting from God’s Mercy because we count on ourselves. What should we do to stop counting on ourselves? The supplications narrated from the Household of the Prophet (‘a) are excellent opportunities. A supplication says, “God, even if I had done a good deed, I shouldn’t have relied on it. I should have relied on Your Grace. And now, I haven’t even done that good deed. So, I must only rely on Your Grace. What should I do if You don’t look at me?”

The concepts of Rizq, sustenance and Dua, supplication, are discussed here. Man is created hasty and we often ask for things that may be detrimental to us. We quickly get dejected and disappointed in Him, but need to remember that God is the one who gives, and withholds, and that He does this in perfect measure, with full awareness and of our needs and betterment. This teaches us to have complete faith and reliance in Him, and to recognize that He is the one in complete control. God also reminds us of our fragility, and complete dependency on Him. He points out our tendency to turn to Him only in distress, when in fact we should be turning to Him constantly, with hope and gratitude. And only then will we realize that the true power of supplication is not in gaining our wants, but in realizing our deepest desire which is proximity to God.

The Shias refer to their scholars to interpret Islamic beliefs during the occultation. The Shias follow the Quran and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the essential part of their belief. They also follow the 12 Shia Imams from the progeny of the Prophet, who continued the message of the Holy Prophet. There are no differences or contradictions between the teachings and the traditions of the Prophet and the 12 Shia Imams. Thus, the Shias are blessed to have divine guidance and teachings from the generations of 12 Imams who lived among the Muslims for about 250 years after the demise of the Prophet. There are countless narrations from the Shia Imams about every aspect of the Islamic teachings and laws. The history of these 12 holy individuals is full of wisdom for any person’s life, with lessons for overcoming any challenges. The Shia theology is unique among the other Muslim sects in having access to the precious historical resources from the Prophet and the 12 Imams. As a result, the Shias are proud of having a doctrine in every aspect of the Islamic sciences. The massive collection of the narrations and historical records from the Prophet and the 12 Shia Imams have survived through history. They are used by Shia scholars in seminaries to defend the Islamic principles and to respond to any new questions regarding Islamic laws. The Shia Imams would always encourage their followers to refer to the trusted Shia scholars for their Islamic affairs. The efforts of the Shia Imams in training scholars, spreading their knowledge, and establishing a network organization of their representatives among the Shia communities were all towards preparing the Shias for their future. This policy was also approved and prescribed by Imam Mahdi. In one of his letters during the minor occultation, Imam Mahdi explicitly referred his Shia followers to the scholars by writing, “In the events that happen, refer to the narrators of our traditions (scholars), because they are my proof upon you, and I am God’s proof upon them.”. Thus, the Shias refer to their scholars to acquire their Islamic knowledge and interpretations during the occultation.

A finally a desi touch to pizza, Chicken Jalapeno Naan Pizza without oven without any fancy ingredients. #HappyCookingToYou #FoodFusion #PakolaFullCreamMilk Written Recipe: https://bit.ly/3H7nQ6t Recipe in English: Ingredients: Prepare Dough: -Warm water ¼ Cup -Sugar 1 tbs -Khameer (Instant yeast) 1 tsp -Maida (All-purpose flour) sifted 3 & ½ Cups -Namak (Salt) ½ tbs -Baking soda 1 & ½ tsp -Dahi (Yogurt) 4 tbs -Cooking oil 2 tbs -Pakola Full Cream Milk lukewarm ½ Cup -Cooking oil 1 tsp Prepare Chicken: -Lal mirch powder (Red chilli powder) ½ tbs or to taste -Namak (Salt) 1 & ½ tsp or to taste -Onion powder 1 tsp -Kali mirch powder (Black pepper powder) ½ tsp -Paprika powder 1 tsp -Lehsan powder (Garlic powder) 1 tsp -Dried oregano 1 tsp -Boneless chicken cubes 400g -Cooking oil 2 tbs -Salt water (Mix 2 tbs salt in ½ cup water to make salt water) Assembling: -Pizza sauce 2 tbs -Pyaz (Onion) sliced -Tamatar (Tomato) deseeded & sliced -Pickled jalapeno slices -Mozzarella cheese grated -Cheddar cheese grated -Dried oregano -Lal mirch (Red chilli) crushed Directions: Prepare Dough: -In a jug,add warm water,sugar,instant yeast & mix well,cover & let it rest for 4-5 minutes & set aside. -In a bowl,add all-purpose flour,salt,baking soda & mix well. -Add yogurt,cooking oil & mix well until it crumbles. -Add yeast mixture & mix well. -Gradually add milk & knead until soft dough is formed. -Add cooking oil and knead again,cover & let it proof for 1 & ½ hour at warm place. -Sprinkle dry flour,stretch & knead dough for 2-3 minutes then divide the dough into 6 portions. -Make a small dough (130g),sprinkle dry flour & roll out dough in oval shape with the help of rolling pin. -Make gashes with the help of finger tips,flip the naan & apply salt water on the other side of naan. -Heat iron griddle,place naan (wet side down) and cook on low flame until it starts to bubble and bottom turns brown then flip the griddle and cook top side on direct flame until it’s charred. Prepare Chicken: -In a bowl,add red chilli powder,salt,onion powder,black pepper powder,paprika powder,garlic powder,dried oregano & mix well. -Add chicken,mix well & set aside. -In a frying pan,add cooking oil,chicken,mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes,cover & cook on low flame for 4-5 minutes then cook on high flame until oil separates & set aside. Assembling: -Place naan on a pizza rack. -Add & spread pizza sauce,add cooked chicken,onion,tomato,pickled jalapenos,mozzarella cheese,cheddar cheese,dried oregano & red chilli crushed (makes 6). -In a pot,place steam stand/wire rack,cover & preheat on medium flame for 15 minutes. -Place naan pizza on rack,cover & bake in pot on medium flame until cheese melts (5-6 minutes). -Cut into slices & serve! Recipe in Urdu: Directions: Prepare Dough: -Jug mein neem garam pani,cheeni aur khameer dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur dhak ker 4-5 minutes kliya rest dein & side per rakh dein. -Bowl mein maida,namak aur baking soda dal ker ache tarhan mix ker lein. -Dahi aur cooking oil dal dein aur crumble hunay tak ache tarhan mix ker lein. -Khameer mixture dal ker ache tarhan mix karein. -Thora thora ker ka doodh shamil karein aur ghond ker naram dough tayyar ker lein. -Cooking oil dal ker dubara ghond lein aur dhak ker 1 & ½ hour (warm place) proof hunay kliya rakh dein. -Maida chirak dein,dough ko 2-3 minutes kliya stretch aur knead ker lein phir 6 portions mein divide ker lein. -Small dough (130g) lein,maida chirak dein aur rolling pin ki madad sa oval shape mein bail lein. -Finger tips ki madad sa gashes laga lein,naan ko flip karein aur salt water ko naan ki dosri side per laga dein. -Iron tawa garam karein aur naan (wet side down) ko halki ancch per paka lein yahan tak ka bubbles ajayen aur bottom se brown ho jaye phir tawa ko flip karein aur top side ko directly chulay per charred hunay tak paka lein. Prepare Chicken: -Bowl mein lal mirch powder,namak,onion powder,kali mirch powder,paprika powder,lehsan powder aur dried oregano dal ker ache tarhan mix karein. -Chicken dal ker ache tarhan mix karein & side per rakh dein. -Frying pan mein cooking oil aur chicken dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur 2-3 minutes kliya paka lein aur dhak ker halki ancch per 4-5 minutes kliya paka lein phir tez ancch per oil alag ho janay tak paka lein & side per rakh dein. Assembling: -Pizza rack per naan rakh dein. -Pizza sauce dal ker pheela lein,cooked chicken,pyaz,tamatar,pickled jalapenos,mozzarella cheese,cheddar cheese,dried oregano & lal mirch crushed dal dein (makes 6). -Pot mein stream stand/wire rack rakh dein aur dhak ker darmiyani ancch per 15 minutes kliya preheat ker lein. -Rack per pizza naan rakh dein aur dhak ker darmiyani ancch per cheese melt ho janay tak pot bake ker lein (5-6 minutes). -Slices mein cut ker ka serve karein!

Although Imam Mahdi’s long life of about 1,200 years is much more than the average life expectancy of a human being, it is not impossible based on current scientific theories and various current theological beliefs. Scientists are actively researching elongating the life of human cells and protecting them from disease, aging, and other deteriorating factors. Some scientists believe that science has the potential to increase human life up to several hundreds of years. The natural world is full of wonders, where plant and animal species have been alive for thousands of years. The mysterious stories of people with long lives of several hundreds of years have been mentioned in various cultures and religions. For example, the longevity of several people has been explicitly mentioned in the Torah, such as Prophet Adam’s age of 930 years and Prophet Adam’s son, Seth’s age of 912 years. Some pre-Islamic Prophets are believed to still be living today, such as Prophet Elijah (Ilyas), who was raised to the sky according to the Old Testament. Muslims of various sects believe that the pre-Islamic Prophets Elijah, Enoch (Idris), Khizr, and Jesus (Isa) never died and are still alive. The Holy Quran explicitly mentions a few examples of noble characters who were blessed with exceptionally long lives. For example, the prophethood of Prophet Noah amongst his people lasted for 950 years, and is mentioned in the Quran [29:14]: “And certainly We sent Noah to his people, so he remained among them a thousand years save fifty years”. We thus deduce that Prophet Noah lived for more than 950 years. Prophet Jesus is another example of a prophet who did not die per the Quran [4:157,158]: “And for their saying, “We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of God. In fact, they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they did. Indeed, those who differ about him are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, except the following of assumptions. Certainly, they did not kill him. Rather, God raised him up to Himself. God is Mighty and Wise.” We thus deduce that Prophet Jesus has been living now for over 2,000 years. Another Quranic piece of evidence is the story of Prophet Ezra (Uzair), where God took his life away for 100 years and then made him alive again, as mentioned in the following verse [2:259]: “(Or have you heard) of the one who, on passing through an empty and ruined town, said, ‘How will God bring it to life?’ God caused him to die and brought him back to life after a hundred years and then asked him, ‘How long have you been here?’ He replied, ‘One day or part of a day’. The Lord said, ‘No, you have been here for one hundred years. Look at your food and drink. They have not yet decayed’.” According to this verse of the Quran, God not only elongated his life for 100 years, but He also miraculously preserved his food and drink, which would have naturally decayed in a day or two. The companions of the cave are another Quranic story in which a few believers took shelter in a cave and slept there for 309 years, as mentioned in the following verse of the Quran [18:25] “And they stayed in their cave for three hundred years, adding nine.” During these long years, they were sleeping, and their body was functioning without any need for water or food. The Shias believe that the long life of Imam Mahdi is a miracle of God, and nothing is impossible for The Creator. God can elongate the life of His chosen savior and prevent him from aging. According to the narrations from the Shia Imams, when Imam Mahdi will reappear, he will look like a 40-year-old or younger.
