Over half a million people are going hungry in Britain. That\\\'s according to the charities Church Action On Poverty and Oxfam. In their joint report: \\\'Walking the Breadline - the Scandal of Food Poverty in 21St Century Britain\\\', the scale of destitution, hardship and hunger are even worse than thought.
One of the biggest worries for anti-poverty campaigners is that food banks are now becoming a \\\'normalized\\\' part of the welfare system. Families and individuals in dire need are forced to accept emergency handouts instead of having the underlying reason for their predicament addressed.
There are also growing concerns that more families in work are unable to make ends meet at the end of the month alongside benefit delays and sanctions adding to their woes. So what would the authors of the report like to see happen to stop more people from sinking into food poverty?

In this edition of the show: British officials fall short of declaring army intervention in Egypt\'s political affairs as a coup. We will also have a review of major coups in 19th and 20th centuries plotted by Britain. Economy: The British Chancellor George Osborne announced his latest public spending review for the years 2015-16. In this review he skirts over the dire economic situation facing British capitalism.
Osborne continues his war against the poor of British society while making yet more massive cuts to public services. In the review of the new spending plan, people who lose their jobs are forced to wait seven days before they can even make a claim for unemployment benefit. Claimants with poor English are required to improve their language skills as a condition of receiving welfare benefits. Spending on welfare benefits is to be further capped and will enable the government to restrict eligibility for housing benefit and disability allowances.

An international rights group has criticized Saudi Arabia for failing to address the dire human rights situation in the kingdom.
Amnesty International says Riyadh has failed not only to implement any of recommendations by the UN Human Rights Council, but has increased the brutal repression of its own citizens. Amnesty International\'s regional director says a paper has been submitted to the UN rights body highlighting arbitrary arrests, detentions, unfair trials, torture and other ill-treatment in the oil-rich kingdom. Philip Luther has called on the international community to make the Saudi regime accountable for violating the rights of its minority Shia community and migrant workers. He says Shia Muslims are being targeted for participating in anti-government demonstrations and for views which are critical of the state. Amnesty has also condemned the systematic discrimination against women in the ultra-conservative kingdom-- including a ban on women driving.
